Two of the dancers in the video were professional Voguers involved in the 80s underground gay ball scene. They created the choreo for the video, and went on tour with her the same year. If you want to watch Vogue live, I highly recommend watching the 1990 MTV VMAs performance where she dressed as Marie Antoinette, it was one of the best moments of TV in the 90s.
actually she decided to write Vogue after often seeing Jose and Luis Voguing at The New York Club Soundfactory,,, she was entranced by them befriended them, asked them to teach her how to vogue, wrote a song about it and then used them in the video and Blond Ambition Tour... They taught the other dancers in the video who did not know Voguing, Most of the dancers in the video had already been selected to support the Tour and be featured as her Dancers onstage.
Vogueing originated in the gay Harlem ballroom scene 1970's and 80's. That's its origin and where it came from. Madonna introduced it to common folk... mainstream
Have you guys ever watched POSE? One of the guys in the Jury is actually a dancer In this video. He is from the House Of extravaganza. And yes, those people at the end were icons. Just check them out. Also many of the shots were references from old photography, for instance the corset from the back. Incredibly well done this video, even after 30 years. It still looks just beautiful.
When I was a little gay boy I remember this video playing in the club and the entire place lost it. Like some kind of gay explosion had gone off. This, Express Yourself and Hung Up a few years later had that effect on dance clubs. Literally everyone started dancing instantaneously. And those of us who could vogue, became 5-minute superstars. Such a goddess.
Hey guys... I was 17 when this came out, and went to my first gay club in Southampton UK. Me and my friends would literally push everyone out of the way to get to the dance floor when this came on. They would always play the 12" mix which went on for about 8 minutes. We didn't give a fuck about anyone else whilst this was playing. I saw her live that summer with The Blonde Ambition Tour at Wembley Stadium in London and it was and will always be the greatest show on earth. Love your reaction to this video. PLEASE react to Vogue from the 1990 MTV awards. She will snatch your wig and your hair off so much, it will never grow back!! 💙
I LOVE THAT YOU HAVE FINALLY DISCOVERED THE ART OF MADONNA. I APPRECIATE YAWLL TAKING TIME TO INTRODUCE OTHERS TO HER AMAZING WORKS. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A MADONNA FAN AND HAVE SEEN MANY OF HER SHOWS INCLUDING HER VIRGIN TOUR IN SAN DIEGO. YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT "BURNING UP" I USED TO DANCE TO "BURNING UP" AT ODYSSEY CLUB ON BEVERLY BLVD. IN L.A. ON THE PLATFORM WITH HER VIDEO PLAYING BEHIND ME. IT WAS ONE HER FIRST CLUB HITS AND SHE WILL ALWAYS HAVE A PLACE IN MY LIFE'S SOUNDTRACK. ❤
In 1992 I was 17 years old. Just went to the clubs and there I saw a guy on the dancefloor totally slaying this song... And after that he became my first boyfriend.... Such sweet memories
I first saw this video in 2003 when I was 14. I remember the date (14th November, 7pm) because I was writing it in my maths homework book as the video started. I had heard of Madonna at that point but had only ever heard Material Girl. I watched the Vogue video and was BLOWN AWAY!!! What a work of art!!! So since 7pm on Friday 14th November 2003, I have been a huge Madonna fan! I soon discovered Express Yourself and it inspired me to come out the following year. She’s touched so many lives and she may never know just how much of an impact she had on the gay community.
The Director of this music video is David Fincher, the same person who directed Oscar-winning movies such as The Social Network, The Fight Club, Gone Girl, The Curious Case of Bnejamin Button, among others. He also directed Madonna´s Express Yourself, Oh Father and Bad Girl
I was 28...hanging out Revolver video bar in Weho. Madonna video premieres were an event. Standing in a bar, packed with gay boys screaming at the screen for their queen...BTW the director was David Fincher....he also directed her "Express Yourself" video.....went on to do direct huge movies.....
She always does a different theme/style/presentation live when she does this ...I have seen it live on several tours..brilliant! Vogue MTV Awards 1990 Go check it out!
Quick Madonna trivia. Vogue as a legit single almost never happened. Her record company Warner wanted a B side track to a song called Keep It Together to help sell the single. Madonna went off and made Vogue for that and presented it to her label. They were smart enough to know that the song was WAY TOO good to be used as a throw away b side track to a cassette single and immediately wanted it as a stand alone single and thank the heavens for that! So they quickly tacked it onto the Dick Tracy soundtrack that Madonna made for the film even though the song had nothing to do with the movie. But there you have it. The biggest hit of 1990 and one of the most iconic songs ever.
This is such an iconic video and still has the same power today 30 years later. Really though, "Why did she pick those people" I fell off my seat when you said that. I see history lesson of the icons from the Golden Days of Hollywood is in order.
I saw her live several times: Sticky & Sweet, MDNA, Rebel Heart and Madame X: she reinvented Vogue in every show and its always the spectacle of all times.
What do you mean "back in the day?" I never stopped dancing to this jam! When this came out my brother had this on a daily loop and taught me the choreography. I still do it. Madonna was a whole experience. You need to see the MTV Music Awards where she did this performance...ICONIC! You will be scalped.
At last - yay. I knew you’d love this. Great reaction. Like A Prayer next please for the love of God (no pun intended). When you get further into your M journey there are so many great live versions of Vogue. I first saw Vogue live on the Blonde Ambition Tour in London in 1990. There’s a great line in her Rebel Heart track Veni Vidi Vinci where she sings ‘And when I struck a pose, all the gay boys lost their mind.’
Awe man! I’m so excited for this BUT I wanted y’all to react to the MTV movie awards of this! Hehehe okay I’ll take what I can get, but I will keep asking for it!!
A lot of comments about the iconic VMA performance, but for a real tour de force, watch Vogue (from MDNA Tour.) It has to be one of the most amazing fashion-oriented works I've ever witnessed. Trust - It's Legendary.
I hope they're faking it, but who can't tell they are so fake to begin with, All this sudden hype for Madonna its just a trend, people were talking shit til one month ago, laughing at her for being and "old lady" and comparing her to Lady Gaga every second. I love her since I was 6, she paved the way for every single pop female singer, and honestly, being a gay guy in your twenties in 2020 and never have seen before Vogue! I mean, freaking Vogue it's ridiculous and kinda sad
@@giovannicaredda4319 This generation has the world LITERALLY in the palm of their hands but they've made a point of thinking that they're inventing everything NOW and nothing or nobody came before. You need to watch "Vogue" live at the Blond Ambition Tour and at the 1990 MTV Video Music Awards, the two more iconic performances of that song. Vogue is an iconic gay anthem. She was supporting the gay community before it became a trend for artists to do. She was doing it for real and making real cultural changes. By the way the Blond Ambition Tour, you should react to "Vogue", "Express Yourself" and "Like a Virgin" from that tour, you won't believe it.

Was in Los Angeles at a club called Catch One , the week this video came out they had this super big screen that came down to present the new video, but it stopped mid way, Maddona came out , she said I hope u love his as much as I do!!! It was a club she would go to a lot with all of the celebrities friends! Miss those days at Catch One .
I laughed so hard in recognition when you guys said ‘Madonna like, invented gay people’ 😂😂😂 I was 7 when this came out and didn’t know I was gay yet but have always loved this song. When I was at University in 2002 I helped organise a party that included Vogueing Battles. It was SO much fun. This song is still as relevant today as ever. “Beauty’s where you find it, not just where you bump & grind it” 🥰
The great David Fincher (Fight Club, Seven, Gone Girl) directed this film clip. He also directed Madonna’s Express Yourself, Oh Father and Bad Girl music videos
Watching this for the first time in the 90s made me realise what and who I truly was. Watching you two "getting it" all these years later warms my heart. Strike a pose, x
Aww, you guys officially have your gay cards now! I was 10 when this came out and we didn't have MTV so I had to go to my neighbor's house to see it. I had no idea what voguing was but I was shook. David Fincher (before he became a film director) directed this and while it lost Video of the Year I believe it did win Best Cinematography at the VMAs. You should definitely react to the VMA performance next! Also: Express Yourself, Hung Up, Frozen, American Life, and Open Your Heart.

So glad you two are appreciating Madonna. Though I do find it strange you e never seen these videos. They are so iconic, so beautiful, so powerful. But then I guess where would you have seen them. You cannot imagine the inspiration and strength Madonna gave people. Truly empowered gay people. Truth or Dare, her documentary, I remember walking out of the theater with a handful of my gay friends. We were so shook none us said anything for several minutes walking down the street. Seeing gay men on the screen, unashamed was unbelievable at the time. Vogue at the VMA’s, Marie Antoinette you must see. And the year before at the VMA’s, express Yourself. I still watch those from time to time and am in awe. Nobody can even come close. Oh and watch her Super Bowl performance. It’s unbelievable.
She did have queens from the Ballroom scene involved in that video. She specifically wanted them in the video to expose that culture to the world. Down below someone mentioned the MTV video awards where she did this performance and it was even more iconic. Watch that one just to get an idea of how amazing she is.
Directed by David Fincher (Director of Se7en, Fight Club, Gone Girl, Mindhunters, etc). The names in the spoken word/rap are names of Hollywood icons she looked up to and the style she was trying to emulate at the time. The music video shows several dancers who were dancing at the Balls in NYC in the late 80's. Several of the music video dancers, like Jose Gutierez and Luis Camacho, were in the legendary house of Xtravangza and did the choreography for the video. Jose can also be seen in the amazing Ball Scene documentary "Paris is Burning" which is a MUST - SEE!!! All the dancers in this video were also part of the Blond Ambition tour which was captured in the groundbreaking documentary movie "Truth or Dare: In Bed With Madonna", which openly spoke about being gay, gay culture, hiv and aids and several other topics which were considered taboo at the time. Jose is still a recurring supporting actor in the tv series Pose, as one of the judges during the balls

You guys are hilarious and I love your reaction videos. I used to react alone in my bedroom listening to Madonna's first album just like you guys are. Burning up, Physical Attraction, Holiday, Luck Star, Everybody and my all time favorite Borderline. I was 14 years old and gay with absolutely no one to relate to and then came Madonna and her amazing music. She was a strong advocate for the gay community and for those suffering with AIDS when the world was so full of blame and condemnation. She is an icon not only musically but also for embracing and loving the gay community without apology.
I was 19 and in college when Madonna released this music and video. At that time, there was nothing like this before… Ever! She became iconic in the 90s because of this song. I was just a little boy and was already in love but this took her to another level. I won’t forget that time. And yes, the clubs thumped all night when the DJ put on a Madonna song. I saw Vogue and I immediately came over! Love u guys!
YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT "BURNING UP"
I USED TO DANCE TO
"BURNING UP" AT ODYSSEY CLUB ON BEVERLY BLVD.
Vogue MTV Awards 1990
Go check it out!
I was doing "The Vogue" as a young teen to feel my own oats.
Leon Chromatica Like this ua-cam.com/video/f7weYZUUv90/v-deo.html
This is such an iconic video and still has the same power today 30 years later. Really though, "Why did she pick those people" I fell off my seat when you said that. I see history lesson of the icons from the Golden Days of Hollywood is in order.
I saw her live several times: Sticky & Sweet, MDNA, Rebel Heart and Madame X: she reinvented Vogue in every show and its always the spectacle of all times.
You should her performance of Vogue from the 1990 MTV awards... One word to describe it.. ICONIC
Highly (HIGHLY) recommended: Vogue live performance from the VMAs 1990. Totally different, totally iconic and the definition of CAMP!
What do you mean "back in the day?" I never stopped dancing to this jam! When this came out my brother had this on a daily loop and taught me the choreography. I still do it. Madonna was a whole experience. You need to see the MTV Music Awards where she did this performance...ICONIC! You will be scalped.
Guys all "those people" used to run Hollywood in it's Golden Age. Famous and talented beautiful people.
You are older american gay guys. I feel awkwardly EMBARRASED you have never watched all these Madonna videos...I mean HONESTLY lmao!!!!
I hope they're faking it, but who can't tell they are so fake to begin with,
All this sudden hype for Madonna its just a trend, people were talking shit til one month ago, laughing at her for being and "old lady" and comparing her to Lady Gaga every second.
To them she's just "hag"donna so I kinda think they are really discovering her now...maybe not necessarily AT the time of filming per se😉..but whatever it's harmless.
Omg I think same
Thanks for taking my recomendation! All live performances of this song are incredible and each performance is different. She's always been a goddesses of reinvention.
Excited for ya'll to check out more of her music videos!
Still gonna request Open Your Heart. Pure 80’s and such an amazing video.
MTV Awards performance of Vogue changed how artists did performances for TV and award shows. A truly iconic performance.
Recommended reactions:
For ultimate Boy Toy Madonna - Burning Up and Lucky Star
For early storyline videos - Material Girl and Borderline
For early iconic moments - Open Your Heart and La Isla Bonita
For cinematic epics - Express Yourself, Oh Father, and Bad Girl
For black and white classics - Cherish and Secret
For beautiful balladry - Take A Bow and Rain
For a night at the club - Deeper And Deeper and Music
For controversial vids - American Life uncensored and What It Feels Like For A Girl
I was doing “the Vogue” and was 17 when it came out. Back then you would have to watch a music video show and tape the video so you could practice it.
They played it in the gay clubs for years and years.
Please react to Vogue 1990 MTV Awards it will change your life.
Also Express Yourself.
Now I’m going to go and do “the Vogue”.
Love you guys ❤️❤️❤️
Was in Los Angeles at a club called Catch One , the week this video came out they had this super big screen that came down to present the new video, but it stopped mid way, Maddona came out , she said I hope u love his as much as I do!!! It was a club she would go to a lot with all of the celebrities friends! Miss those days at Catch One .
I was 15 and sneaking into clubs!! This was EPIC, we all thought we were Madonna haha
NO ONE before or since has topped the mega iconic level of Vogue!
U should watch Pose is an amazing show about the lgbt culture about the 80 and 90. Love from Argentina!
Hi guys: I’m a Madonna fan (3 months her senior). I get a real kick watching you younger guys loving her exactly the way I do. You couldn’t have said it any better when you said “ I don’t want it to end. I’ve seen this video a million times and I still feel the same way.
If you guys loved this, YOU HAVE TO SEE her performing Vogue at the MTV awards (1990)! It is still talked about!! ICONIC!!!
Love you guys!
Pure Art ....i love Madonna
YOU NEEE react to Vogue (MTV Video Music Awards performance). Maybe best VMA's performance in HISTORY
Pleaseeee watch the vogue performance at the VMAs, it’s even more ICONIC, you’re not prepared for that
Madonna invented the mannequin challenge. 🙌🏻👑
Madonna's music video "Frozen" is my favorite song/video of her's. It won awards for it's groundbreaking visual effects for it's time.
YOU MUST!!! MUST!!! REACT TO "LA ISLA BONITA", IT'S AMAZING
José Luis Sierra Aguilr my favie
@@chrstnanomee7494 they didn't react :'c
And that made Madonna sit next to Michael Jackson for the Pop Royalty. She literally put this underground dance culture to the map and the Number 1. Undeniably THe Queen of Pop music and the biggest selling female music artist of all generations.
3:42 We did. I was 10 years old when that video came out. That, along with the True Blue album sealed Madonna for me. Can you do us all a favor and react to the ballad Crazy For You? When my husband and I got married we could not pick a song to dance to our first dance to, until I mentioned Crazy For You. My hubby told me that was always his dream song to dance to at his wedding. It's a beautiful song by our Madge. Love your reactions guys. :)
ua-cam.com/video/DHutZXREZ0E/v-deo.html Crazy For You
I love this! I would LOVE for you to keep reacting to her videos and can't wait for you to watch the live performances. Madonna's catalogue is really vast and diverse. The music, the videos, the tours!
If you want an AMAZING live performance react to literally ALL of the Confessions Tour. GET TOGETHER is amazing live!
React to Express Yourself
She did have queens from the Ballroom scene involved in that video. She specifically wanted them in the video to expose that culture to the world. Down below someone mentioned the MTV video awards where she did this performance and it was even more iconic. Watch that one just to get an idea of how amazing she is.
You need!! MUST!! REACT to this but the MTV Music awards presentation!!! You will die!!! Literally!!!
Anahi Zegarra yess!!
Here!! The Link!! ua-cam.com/video/lTaXtWWR16A/v-deo.html
React now!!!
You guys should react to her live performance of vogue in the vma’s.
Love these reactions! I need you guys to watch Paris is Burning and both seasons of Pose! It's all connected.
Please react to the iconic “Express Yourself”!
Keep them coming, babies! Love them. Please react to Vogue from the 1990 Vmas, it's AMAZING
Please react American Life uncensored version :c
The best live performance of this song is definitely the VMAs , you guys should react to that one! Beautiful ensamble 👑
You should react to Frozen.
you guys need to react to the vogue performance in the vma 90! ♡
you neeeed to react to material girl!!
Yes that's the one I've been forgetting to suggest!!!! Though maybe they should watch Marilyn in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes first? 😜
Awesome reaction to this groundbreaking Madonna video. I was a gay teen in the 80’s when we saw this videos release our reaction was just like yours. Lol The names she mentions are from the Golden Age of Hollywood. One in particular is without a doubt Madonnas greatest influence and idol. Another front runner and Huge supporter of the gay community the legendary Marlene Dietrich. Check out Marlenes movies concerts and there before you will be years down the road. Madonna
Just subscribed! If you loved this video, then you're going to be in gay heaven if you react to Vogue Live at the MTV VMAs 1990. Please react to that! 🙏
A Madonna discovery journey is not complete without live performances!
The Confessions tour is iconic, the opening is mind blowing! Also The blond Ambition Tour and The Girlie Show are must watch!
I also suggest these music videos: Rain, Nothing Really Matters, The Power of Goodbye, Hung Up, American Life Uncensored and God Control.
Enjoy your journey ladies, there’s so much material on Madonna! The more you discover her the more you’ll see the true ARTIST she is!
Please react to Future Lovers (Confessions Tour) MASTERPIECE
You guys are hilarious and I love your reaction videos. I used to react alone in my bedroom listening to Madonna's first album just like you guys are. Burning up, Physical Attraction, Holiday, Luck Star, Everybody and my all time favorite Borderline. I was 14 years old and gay with absolutely no one to relate to and then came Madonna and her amazing music. She was a strong advocate for the gay community and for those suffering with AIDS when the world was so full of blame and condemnation. She is an icon not only musically but also for embracing and loving the gay community without apology.
Frozen pretty please
I was 19 and in college when Madonna released this music and video. At that time, there was nothing like this before… Ever! She became iconic in the 90s because of this song. I was just a little boy and was already in love but this took her to another level. I won’t forget that time. And yes, the clubs thumped all night when the DJ put on a Madonna song. We called her Auntie.
