WISCONSIN EARLY SEASON PUBLIC LAND GIANT "In a moment of doubt"

  • On the 5th day of the season Dan gets the wind and conditions he was waiting for and goes in for all or nothing... Will an early season monster fall to his arrow? Or will something go wrong? Great equipment got him into the only tiny crappy tree in the spot, but will he actually get the shot, and pull it off? www.huntingbea...

Dan is a regular guy but I think he's an awesome hunter That being said I think everyone will make a less than ideal shot It's the decision he made after that really sets him apart from other hunters I have been following him since I came across one of his vids I have been hunting for over fifteen years but I have learned more in the last two or three years since I was watching his videos The guy is solid He didn't hesitate to immediately make the tough decision to back out and not bump him so I can congratulate him on his buck He has gave me the confidence to go the extra mile if I want to harvest big bucks Once again congrats on your first of many and thank you for the lesson that I will surely be able to keep in mind I have made that mistake a time or two It cost me a deer before and I know now that's the reason you back out to not possibly run the deer off and never recover it I get sick of that thought I wounded an animal and that's what I am not going to ever do again Thank you Dan and I can't wait to get me another one

I have no doubt that a tracking dog has unbelievable skills. I personally bow shot a 200 lbs Buck that was hit hard through one lung, liver, and some of the small intestines and this buck brought us on a 2.5/3 mile track after being left alone for 6 hours and my Buddy's trained tracking dog found it.

That is an awesome buck! I don’t know how u do it. Hunting mobile brings a lot of scary situations. Going in new areas in the morning is nearly impossible without making noise. Bringing nothing with u leads to freezing your ass off in the evening to the point u get vertigo when trying to climb out of your stand. Hunting can be scary in the dark. I would love to listen to some stories about being lost, hearing predators in the dark, or getting tangled up in a tree trying to be safe with a linesman. I know Dan had some scary moments and was in fear. Let it be known.

My grandfather was a very well respected hunter around where I’m from, and he passed before he could pass on all the years of knowledge on to me. Yesterday I got aggressive and hunted this little swamp area on this property I've been on for about 4 years now. The wind was supposed to be NNW, but then it ended up being mostly a NE/E wind. So, me being butthurt sitting over this swamp area 600 yards deep (that's far for my small state and zone) because my wind is going right into it, I focus my area on my secondary area that I thought bucks would be. Sure enough, hour before legal ending time, I see a big body moving in the thickets ~90 yards away. I wait and minutes later I see bone up top...then I see A LOT of bone up top (probably 140"+....that's huge for my state). He ends up working only to about 60ish yards but man it was nice to see! He ended up getting my ground scent (I debated going there or where I ended up, which cost me a chance) and did a small blow and eventually I saw him slowly go back the way he came in. Going back Sunday night to see if I can setup closer and not scare him off!

Keep the vids coming Dan. Your tip in here about big bucks and the path they take (wider/open vs narrow). Would you say this applies in most area situations (for example, hunting timber that has a bunch more smaller trees and overgrowth). Would they be more likely to follow the more open trail vs a more active path that is narrower?

I love the show and I love the collaborations with the hunting public but I have to say I mean, I hate Biden and I hate Biden and I hate a lot of things similar to you but let's leave the political agenda out, 2nd of all we all know that with covid I mean seriously there was a huge spike in people going outdoors and doing things they usually didn't do or at least do it more often than they used to, so at least we need to look at it like that's one more positive thing from covid... regardless of how stupid people think it is. My biggest buck a 7 1/2 yo 15 pointer was shot in a small town in Wisconsin that I've hunted for years and shot alot of nice bucks off of. It is all now subdivided into properties it's a shame my old stanf is still sitting in someone's backyard! It makes it hard for everybody times are getting tough, people are getting greedy and honestly we all hate social media but it's the biggest reason why people can make such precise moves nowadays. I'll be honest I knew a lot growing up from all the big hunters in my family but social media took it to a whole another level

Dan great stuff and as always showing your level of ingenuity, awesome to see and learn. I was wondering though if you could show how you set up that tree stand and climbing sticks on those group small of trees at 1:25, please? I have lots of small groups of tree like that where I hunt and understanding how you did that would be supremely helpful, thanks.

you got lucky, last time i hit a big boy with a non perfect shot (liver) in the evening and came back at first light the coyotes had already found him. that was probably 20 years ago, now i am much more picky about the shots i will take, and shot angles.

Super good video. That’s what happens at mud lake. Tons of pressure but you have to walk in farther then 200 yards when there is 5500 acres

I used a tracking dog a couple years ago to help recover my buck! It was pretty awesome!
