G'day everyone! As per the end of this video just a reminder that there will not be any Tie Fighter next week. I have been talking to Angel (the developer of TFTC) and the planned release for the new patch which includes a whole lot of game improvements along with some changes to the missions that we would have flown next week. So, if all goes to plan we'll be back week after next with a whole new update. That said their will absolutely be new videos next week so stay tuned! As always I hope everyone has a fantastic day!
they wanted to see what a Ace Pilot could do... and whoo boy did you not disappoint. a squadron of X-wings, *several* Tie Advanced, several tie fighter squadrons, bombers and y-wings... all trying to kill you and you just dance through the danger like it was a casual shuttle run.
Your accent really helps the immersion as an imperial TIE pilot in these vids. I was waiting for your reaction to the 'being hung out to dry' mission love these vids.
Message from Imperial Human Resources - "To everyone: Admiral Harkov has been courageous and clever enough to take Imperial property without authorization. We applaud his initiative and will promote him immediately. PS Magz - you are to report to HR NOW!"
I really love this series. The 'feel' of it is fantastic and the mission arcs feel like you're actually accomplishing something of importance, unlike Squadrons which felt disjointed and hollow. I won't hold my breath, but I'd really love to see the X-Wing / TIE Fighter series either rebooted or revitalized by a passionate developer
Magz I just wanted to tell you that I enjoy your Tie-Series very much. It brings back memories when I played it back in the 90ies as teenager. I still have the original box at home. Keep it up and have an awesome day!
You know... I wonder what the Tie Advanced Engineers think about this event, a tie interceptor, piloted by a normal human, evades TWO or three of the Empire's most advanced fighters. Great flying by the way, you are the only youtuber I watch on this gameplay and I am sure Vader approves the spinning tactic.
I remember feeling like an absolute bad@$$ when I first played this level in my teens. I had a mental image of Harkov going into a cold sweat as it dawned on him that he'd pissed off a pilot who could fight off his entire strike force AND his rebel allies with an unshielded craft. _"It looks like you couldn't kill me Harkov... but I'll remember that you tried."_
I've been waiting for this. I actually enjoyed this mission, as I recall, just for the challenge. I also thought there was more mines than 12, but it has been a long time since I played TIE Fighter.
I'm also working on 3DMs of the TIE fighter medals, hoping to up the resolution scale a bit. I've got 9 of the medals done, but still need to go back and do all the "ribbons" they hang from.
When you were talking about shields. I remembered a bug in X-Wing Alliance that got patched... You could create power presets in the options. If you set a power preset with Zero Shields and Zero Beam energy. When you had neither system Then the system would calculate your speed as if you had those systems and had powered them down. It made X-wings base speed like 125mglt or something. with weapons and shields at maintenance levels.Up from 100.
Yeah, I was looking forward to this mission the entire time. It was a good story element and a nice - and hard - resulting mission. When I replayed the Dos-Box enabled TIE Fighter from GoG a while ago, I was reminded how hard this game was. As a kid, I definitely had more time to rerun missions to finish them all on Hard...
That blaster is the only actual screen used evidence of officer sidearm in OT trilogy film canon (That I can think of). Remember in ESB when that brave officer uses that insurgent princess as body armor at cloud city?
Good afternoon Magz and chat. I have one quick question. How in the world does chaff work in space. Without an atmosphere in theory could the pilot who deployed the countermeasure on accident maneuver in a way that opens line of sight back up between him and the missile, negating the chaff?
Best line of all Star Wars video games. GAMMA ONE IS THE EMPEROR'S STOOL PIGEON And the Secret Order aren't the brightest bulbs in the shed. They've already seen a rebel officer going to visit Harkov, and here they're totally caught by surprise when a Rebel cruiser shows up.. Also I think you get bonus points if you destroy the shuttle and inspect the Rebel Cruiser? Or was that just in the original game?
I wonder how often you had to replay that mission, especcially with the Gimbal Problem :) If you try to hit those damn mines and your crosshair always tries to get off the target, you get pretty nervous and frustratet :(
The gimbal problem only affects when you look straight up or down. This issue has been fixed in the latest XWAU patch and will be included in the upcoming 1.3.3 patch :)
Pay closer attention to throttle gauge and on-screen popups. I'm playing this on a modern HOTAS setup with an independent throttle and you'll see I’m dropping speed into turns and increasing speed out of turns to maximize turn rate and minimize time caught slow on pretty much every maneuver.
Not really when you consider what their attention was. The Tie Avenger was being developed like the F-35, its long-term development and rollout plan was for it to eventually replace the standard TIE/LN and likely also the TIE Interceptor as the main standardized fighter of the Imperium. Being as the Imperium has a few thousand worlds with trillions of people that rollout was going to be slow but that was its end goal. The Tie Defender is essentially an F-22 advanced, It was intended as a limited production elite starfighter issued only to the best squadrons in the Empire usually hand selected by Vader himself.

That TIE Bomber Pilot was another secret Agent of the Emperor. Be careful. You are not the only one looking for treachery ^^
Someone lost their sabacc game and didn't pay up D:
The tragedy here is that Gamma 2 and 3 will never have a chance to apply their new knowledge of clearing minefields in an unshielded craft.
The silence setting in after 11:00 was eerie
Agreed! MagzTv didn't see that coming.

Also bravely buggering off^^

11:03 A Tie Bomber Pilot destroys a gunship!! On our own side!! Don't piss Tie Bomber Pilots off!!

6:00 I can't unhear 'those Y-wings are making torpedo runs on the frigate bendovah."
. . . . god now I want to be able to name my Submarine in Cold Waters and not just the captain. Captain Hugh Jass of the Submarine HMAS Bendovah

Really enjoying the series, thank you for the uploads. Looking forward to the return once the new update drops. 🇦🇺🇦🇺
19:46 Admiral Harkov reveals his treachery!!
13:38 Bottom right corner if crew quarters. You have a good quality plant!
Vader was secretly slumming it in that bomber.

“The “Emperor,” would like a prototype immediately.” Vader will surely fly that thing first

Still lovin the Tie and Sub playthroughs. This mod is Awesome. Kudos to the Modders!!!

All mighty assault gunboat. Very hard missions I survived with 😅

The TIE bombers on your hud in the this mission look very very strange...
I think they're the TIE Advanced Bomber. Or some variant of it
@@brianwhedon8442 I think it was just the HUD bugging out, other videos of the reimagined Mineclearing mission dont show them.

If you go 1/3 speed, you'll turn a lot faster

This mission
It's a TRAP!
Harkov actin kinda sus ngl 😑
Use your chaff more
AI WILL use countermeasures if they have them and you can see it, but thats a stock XWA behavior. Nothing special on our part.
So empire was developing the tie avenger and tie defender at the same time? Seems a waste
