- Steve Dangle shares his picks for worst plays of the week in the NHL. He goes over everything from a high-stick that shouldn't have been called to Tristan Jarry knocking Leon Draisaitl's feet under him.

Two weeks in and no devils dangits. This is history
The Canucks replaced them!
Those devils black Jerseys with the (prison?) stripes....is a dang it!!
@@AEMoreira81 I have a feeling the f*cks (ducks) will either replace them or at least join them.
Love when he’s talking about the sharks beating the leafs tonight after 5 hours before a the sharks beat the leafs 😂
The goal horn for Vegas. 🤣😂
Steve handing The ghost who
out Dang-Its to won't stop bullying
Tristan Jarry Brett Kulak
🤝
"I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU!!!"
That SJ goal horn is so loud, I can't imagine how startling it would be as a fan if you aren't expecting it
I’m pretty sure the ref’s assist in the Calgary goal was deliberate. To use NHL parlance, there was a “distinct kicking motion” to move the puck from the ref’s skate to Huberdeau’s stick.
Just get those clowns off the ice.. why is he sta ding there in the first place? He should be either closer to the boards or closer to the goal line.. these idiots are always in the wrong place. They always stay way too close to the play... your only supposed to get close to the play when your losing sight of the puck or think you will soon.
No, he just wanted it out of his own feet instinctively. It's a human mistake, not deliberately helping one team.
Flames Fans Please Get Over 2004 Already Challenge (Impossible)
I always thought if referee interference led directly to a goal, they had the ability to call it off
@@marshallmykietyshyn4973 only if it hits the ref and then goes directly into the net. Once a player on either team touch it, it's back to a live puck
They couldn't review for a double minor once the ref made the call for 2 minutes. While the refs attempted to review, you can see the screen isn't showing the play and the refs get word from Toronto that they can't review because he already called for 2 minutes. He should have called a double then reviewed and reversed the call. I'm an Aves fan and the refs screwed up.
That ref should be penalized for delay of game, or fine, or fired lmao
"I'm an Aves fan"
Mmm, okay.
The refs did fine. It looked like a high stick in real time from his angle. Refs don't have the luxury of perfect angles, zoomed in, and in slow motion. When they saw they got it wrong they tried to see if they can do anything to fix it
@@moneydynamicmatanya9541 It is part of the compromise to a game where not every penalty can be reviewed so that we don't get bogged down by unnecessary reviews for the majority of the time. Otherwise, every time a penalty is called, reviewed and upheld, it would be a delay of game for the refs. Which would you prefer?
No Avs fan uses Aves.
Can we appreciate that beer chug at 4:49, that man gets fan of the week.
And we are back to screaming Steve😂
Man the difference between Hat-pick and Dang-it’s can be felt within a nanosecond of starting the video
There are 3 options to explain the high sticking thing.
1. They are involved to a certain degree on betting or "fixing" games (we know they don't fix mistakes they just make new ones... that they also never fix)
2. Incompetent (seems like the obvious choice... if Colorados GM watches the replay live before being announced the call stands, he has to be absolutely embarrassed. It's a clown league with a clown commisionaire
3.
The stress lol
you know what's even funnier? That used to be Vegas' goal horn at first during their Inagural Season lol
“The pizzas she made were square”
Everyone in Windsor and Detroit:🥹
Getting a high-stick from your teammate sure is a dang-it. I remember once, an opposing player grabbed an Oiler's stick and made an Oiler's player high-stick another Oiler's player. I think they reviewed it because it was a double-minor, but they called it off because it was caused by an Oiler's stick. They should have handed out a 'holding the stick' call at least. It was obviously a result of the opposing player's actions.
i particularly liked the sequence of plays in the Kings Lightning game, where the Lightning gave up a 2 on 0 (thats a dang it) vasilevsky makes a brilliant almost mind-reader save (hat pick), meaning the Kings failed to score on the 2 on 0 (dang it), and then not like five seconds later the Lightning give up ANOTHER odd man rush, a 2 on 1 this time (dang it!) and this time the Kings score even tho Vasilevsky didnt need to worry about the pass that time (dang it!). it was all very funny.
Or how about in that same game Quick poke checked the puck straight to Hagel and he scored, I thought that was a dang it
@@Something7348 well im actually a kings fan so i deleted that from my memory, lol
@@selinimint7908 oh dang bro I’m so sorry, at least you guys still won
@@Something7348 no hard feelings, its early in the season im *sure* theyll get their defensive prowess back soon ^-^
Igor has done this without trouble 1000 times and finally messes up on his 1001 time. He's the exception. Go Igor
You can even see Fox backing off of the puck because they have so much confidence in Igor's puck handling. He'll get one in the empty net eventually.
@@samvakarian I might cry when he does lol. I was at the Wild game this year and took my phone out to record for that little bit they pulled Fluery. I just wonder if the team thinks "give it to Igor" as much as all the fans do lol
@@rjdaire38 sometimes I wonder why they dont, its almost like soccer, playing out from the back. I hit record on my remote every time the opposing team pulls their goalie. I have brodeurs first empty net on a vhs i recoeded and still have and I sure as hell don't wanna miss igors. We all know its coming, it's only a matter of when 👍
@@samvakarian Ultimately I hope I jist get to see it live. I'm not in NY so I only get hockey through ESPN+ which doesn't give me every Ranger game, the games I don't get to watch my biggest fear is missing his goal lol
Ahh, the NHL. "It'll be a great league when it's finished."
Avs fan and I completely agree that the call was bad. But as bad as that was, and it was BAD BAD, the fact that we lose the puck on screen every time it flies in front of that infuriating dynamic ad boards is worse! It's bad enough people complain about losing the puck on an HD screen, but now we're blocking it for ad revenue? Shameful.
As a Canuck fan I’m pretty sad rn so imma just share that a lil bit and remind Steve and everyone that Steve has Demko in fantasy :)
maybe the refs weren't really reviewing the call maybe they were asking Toronto if they are allowed to review the call.
Of course this goes up hours before the refs go completely insane in the Oilers vs. Chicago game, can't wait to see that one!
32 minutes of penalties is the 2nd period 😂
I legit can't wait to see that game on the dangits next week, whole game was a dangit 😂😂😂😂😂
The reffs wanted to be center stage. Take a bow reffs.
I almost spat my coffee every where when you said that the refs are watching the replay on their tamacochi screens...🤣
My wife and I look forward to every Thursday for these! As always, well done Steve!
Omfg hahaha Jarry at 1:48 is basically any NHL video game in the 3d era when a goalie takes off for the bench
Another Dang-it in the Pens-Oils game. As the Oilers players were celebrating with their goalie, a Penguins fan in the background was shown in the motion of throwing his jersey onto the ice. In another angle it shows Draisaitl skating over and flicking it back into the stands.
Word is that it wasn't an actual fan just someone trying to get tiktok attention
@@kramerhockey3343 Isn't that every person in the Penguins fanbase? None of them had even heard of hockey before 2005.
@@Peksisarvinen been watching since 02 man. Those were bad bad teams. The pain will come back around and only the few will stay for the rebuild
@@Peksisarvinen seriously poor take, I guess Lemieux and the 80s-90s weren't a thing either.
I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU!
Since the refs are in contact with Toronto and referee central, you would figure all they should do , to save face, is tell the on-ice refs, up it to 4 minutes and then reverse the call since there was no high stick.
It's called IMPROVISATION and would save the NHL a PR debacle in the end.
4 minutes cannot be reduced to zero minutes. It can only be reduced to two minutes.
Another dang-it from that carolina edmonton game was the canes leaving draisaitl on an absolute island in front of the net and he scores.
Speaking as a Canes fan, that whole game was a dang-it.
@@p-47thunderbolt57 unfortunately for you guys it was. But honestly, I hope you guys do well this year, and who knows we might just see you in the scf. But hopefully a different result from last time....
@@spartan2693, thank you, that's very nice. Best of luck for your team, too.
As an Avs fan I was so glad they didn't actually score on that power play
Same here
@@xyrolinx3533 goal is a goal, especially in a game that goes to a shoot out. But I do think the Avs took the foot off a little for that power play, and it was the right thing for them to do
@@xyrolinx3533 we won the game anyway so it didn't necessarily matter, but it could have the way that game went.
@@xyrolinx3533 I didn't really notice but if I'm Bednar I say to the guys to go even harder because you know the Rangers are getting a makeup call(or 3 in this case) and with the Avs PK being what it is to start the season they need to capitalize on every PP
I mean teams have been screwed harder and consequently scored on. There are plenty of wrong calls/missed calls each game, but Colorado had good sportsmanship if they did ease up
Well now I’m Googling who owns the rights to the freaking Benny Hill theme 🤣
We need a "If you're a goaltender, sweep the leg" shirt.
4:52 That mullet is a Dang-It!
Nedeljkovic on the Nico Hischier goal the other night definitely made me say “now that’s a dang it” when I saw it 😂
21:38 Americans know what a centimeter looks like
Note to self, dont drink coffee during dang-its. thats a dang-it
The refs actually didn't review the high sticking goal. The iPad stayed on the loading screen because Toronto said they couldn't review it. If you look again it stays on the loading screen the whole time
I don't know why, but the call and answer, audience participation section made me laugh and laugh. Of course, I obliged. Made me feel like a kid again.
I was at the Canucks home opener against Buffalo, and man that whole game was a dang it. Boo'ed off the ice, jerseys thrown onto the ice. It was quite the spectacle. I'm glad they were at least able to pull out their first win against Seattle tonight, but come on boys, DANG IT!
You gotta be pretty pissed to throw your jersey! The last jersey I bought was $215, I don't care how bad my team does, that thing ain't going nowhere!
*Came for Letang's dang-it's and suuuuure as hell was not disappointed.*
Can anyone tell me why refs are exempt from post game media availability? That's a serious question. Why do they not have to answer for calls they make or don't make?
Players and coaches all have to face the media following a game and answer questions about plays they made or called if those plays effected the outcome of the game. The calls the refs make have just as much effect on the outcome of games, so why do they not have to answer any questions about them?
Do you think it would improve the quality of the calls made if the refs knew there was going to be a camera in their face asking questions after the game, and a scrum of reporters scrutinizing their answers?
I'd love to know what other fans think of the idea and if anyone thinks it could ever happen.
We get it, you hate the Avs. The refs made the call concerning the review according to the book. Yes, the initial call was wrong, but the refs made it up to the Rangers by giving them 4 of the the last 5 power plays, including the 10ply soft call in overtime.
I figured that ref play in the Sabres-Flames game would be on here. It was the last thing I saw before I went to bed that night and I was so pissed off.
You are the only reason I watch this channel
Missed opportunity for Draisaitl to celebrate with a crane pose like in karate kid.
The one where the sharks blew the horn for the Vegas goal you can see one of the Vegas players give the sign kids give truckers to honk their horns and it was hilarious
If I had a nickel for everytime that happened with the Colorado Avalanche I'd have two which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice.
As an Avs fan, I thought the Rangers got screwed on that one. At least the Avs didn't score on it. But, other than that, it was a fantastic game, and possibly a preview of later this season!
Steve could see the scheduled loss for the leafs coming from a mile away xD
Regarding the reviewed penalty that shouldn't have been reviewed but was wrong... There has to be a standard for when penalties are reviewed otherwise officials will get questioned for reviewing Play A but not Play B, and coaches influencing reviews but not having it count as one of their review requests, etc.
remember that scene in slapshot where the owner walks by and says 'all right boys lets really try to win this one." thats the Vancouver coach
It's all good coach. We're all goaltenders now.
The real Dang-it on the Shesterkin play is ESPN thankfully going to a split screen so everyone can watch Cale Makar grab a seat on the bench!!!
That pissed me off. I was like what are you doing, ESPN?!
I agree, that completely distracted me from the play, next thing I knew the puck was in the net. Makar is a great player, but if you've seen one player sit down you've seen them all. ESPN really frustrates me with their NHL coverage!!!
I'm really liking this new editor (that I'm still not convinced exists). Keep it up Nick. o7
The crazy thing about the Rangers “high stick” is that for many calls the refs are allowed to review it before making a decision.
Like with delay of game - over the glass calls.
Since we got no real tough guys is the line-up, I guess Jarry decided to become one
I was one of the people in the crowd at that rangers game, btw we screamed “*sshole! *sshole! *sshole!”
I don't know if it's because an official channel isn't allowed to talk about it. However, the Canucks lost 5-1, got boo'd off the ice and fans threw jersey's onto the ice AT THE HOME OPENER. That's gotta be the biggest dang-it for any professional sports franchise ever.
Hoenestly the Canucks in general this season have just been one big dang-it.
Did the refs actually review the high stick though? If you look at the screens they are showing some weird loading screen and it never shows the play. I think the refs went to review it and they were told that they can't review it because they only called a 2 min minor.
The refs are an absolute joke and the worst part is that sometimes it’s not even their fault, they see something they did wrong but they can’t correct it because "rules are rules" that’s so upsetting and for them too I’m sure
I was surprised the Canucks were only in here once, until I rewatched and remembered Steve said the whole team right now is a dangit 😭
The refs ended up correcting their phantom high stick in the Avs/Rangers by not calling the obvious high stick to Rantanen’s face late third in the same game. Lol. Thus the board of governors shall never speak of this.
2:22 WAIT WHAT HOW DID SETH ROLLINS GET HERE?!
"We've all been there"
As a former major junior hockey team DJ/horn operator: Nope, never done that in 2 seasons Steve. However, I may have activated the horn a bit too early a few times...
It’s a good day when your team isn’t highlighted in this video 😅
Respect for the lion tattoo.
I thought the Dang-It on the Vancouver overtime loss to Minnesota was that all 3 Canucks "skaters" were standing still at times (the announcer did say that Boeser and Miller had been on the ice for over 2 minutes).
2:27 Seth Rollins theme cameo!
I never noticed that!
Sharks fan, here. For every future episode, please just include: "The Sharks. Dang it. Moving on."
Rangers fans can't complain about that phantom high stick call. The refs made up for it at the end of the period by calling Dryden Hunt on a penalty because he got his stick held (???) Funny that we see NHL refs do that all the time. Calling the victim for the penalty.
Steve that lion tattoo is SICK
Uh oh Leah Hextall play by play thats a dang it
as for the Sharks horn blowing.... I had a related experience when the Jets were still the Atlanta Thrashers. I won a VIP fan thing and got to go up into the rafter area and push the button that made the big Thrasher head shoot fire when they skated out for pre-game introductions. Anywho... We did all that (super fun!) and then the guy who normally pushes the button during the game for goals wandered off. I decided to just stay there because of the awesome view. The game started and the Thrashers actually scored in the first few seconds! He wasn't there to stop me so I pushed the button for him! He comes running back laughing about how lucky it was that I had stuck around. He wanders off again because, hey, it's the Thrashers! They're not gonna score again anytime soon, right? Wrong! They scored again just as he disappeared, so I hit the button again for the goal and then two more times because they had two goals total at that point and they guy still wasn't there to stop me. We had a good laugh and he decided to stay where he belonged after that. Best hockey night of my life!
I first laughed when you said don't laugh, but then I gasped when I say the 2 Canadian players collided into the board. I'm glad they are okay. I just love Dang-Its videos and LFR. 😂 it's helped my mother and I through some rough times and thank you Steve for lifting our spirits🤗
I’ve never understood how reviewing penalties is not just mandatory. The whole it delays the game sure I agree to an extent if we start reviewing every single penalty the way they reviewed the no review two minute call but when they’re replaying the penalty like they always do on the Jumbotron if the referee notices that they got the call wrong rather than just go with it why not reverse the call?
a leafs fan high fives another leafs fan in the face after tavares goaled last night, that's a dang it !!!!
8:43. I really hope he's talking about the Sharks winning it, but let's be honest. No they're not. Yes, the Sharks scored 26 seconds in, but lord knows they can't keep a ... oh well hey would you look at that, they lost the lead.
Biggest dang-it is that Sharks fans have to watch their terrible team AND listen to Leah Hextall while they do it
*shivers*
The entire black hawks vs oilers game (especially the 2nd period) was a dang it. Especially for the refs.
Fire them 🔥
The giveaway to Eichel was actually a triple Dang It. The play was during a 4-on-4, because a penalty was called 2 seconds into a Jets power play, so that’s Dang It one. The giveaway and goal is Dang It two. The score after that goal was 4-0 in the first period, which is Dang It three.
Love how Steve went into that dang it lol. Paramount that’s Jack Eichel, he’s not on your team. While pointing with his finger it’s hilarious
a hat trick of ref stupidity to end it off what a great ending
I remember Sidney Crosby was called for a trip or a high stick, and the refs reviewed it and took it back because it wasn’t his stick. I don’t know why that was allowed and this wasn’t given the same respect.
I sipped a tea a little too early when i thought the video is over, almost had myself drowned
Great rant. Entertaining and actually informative.
5:16 Necas must have forgot the seemingly unwritten rule about never boxing in your own goalie behind the net..
How in the world was Samuel Girard's stick getting stuck in the boards leading directly to a Golden Knights goal not a dang it? Also, I don't feel too bad for the Rangers on the last dang it because not only did Colorado not score on that PP the Rangers also got like 3 make up calls for it
Igor with his first career “tend the goal!!”
Alternate title: Steve bullies goalies for 24 minutes and 38 seconds
The bigger Dangit is Kyrou not scoring, like everybody else on the Blues this year. It's been more of a goddammit than a dangit.
Looking forward to the goalie interference call against the Oilers (vs. St. Louis) on the next one
2 minutes are not reviewable, but they reviewed it and couldnt overturn it because it's not reviewable.
Lol as a former goalie coach, lol bantam or was it pee wee... does that count lol, I guess stick to the blue ice theory is above everyone's game plan....want to play goalie? nets? What about the word goal or nets means leaving the goalie area or nets area?
LOL that high stick rule is hilarious.
As a Rangers fan, no it isn't
Love the guy in a flames jersey behind the goal at the oilers canes game. If you're a fan, attend the right game!
They wanted to watch a Flames game but were afraid that the Saddledome would collapse.
Great video as always personally would’ve included the reveal of Arizona’s temporary locker room this is an NHL team right???
It was not finished, and it's only for this 4 game home stand. That's why they have a 14 game road trip after this 4 game home stand.
1) The refs should have never been reviewing that play, the official on ice made the call, as from his angle no doubt it looked like Lafreniere committed the high sticking. That's the way it goes, refs are human, mistakes happen.
2) For some inexplicable reason, they decide to review the play. Now this here is the real dang-it. Why were they reviewing a high sticking call? Its unprecedented. By doing this they left themselves in an impossible situation. They have to either they revise their call on the play after the review, or they ignore what they saw. If they revise their call, they're opening pandoras box by inviting other teams to start asking for reviews for other penaltys, which would greatly slow the game down. No one wants that. If they ignore what they saw, now not only does everyone know they made the wrong call, but they also stopped the game for no reason to review the play in the first place.
3) Lists feel incomplete without at least 3 items
Steve if you watch it again they don’t review it. They get on the headset and Vancouver never plays a replay cause they tell the ref’s they can’t review it. The screen never shows anything. So they don’t see it.
Then it's a Dangit for standing there for another 4 minutes 48 seconds wondering what they do.
Less than an inch if you're an American; thanks for including us buddy! The metric system is the devil's math.
I was at that rangers game. Happy to partake in an AHole chant for that ref!! Terrible call on the ice..
Steve , you have to stop yelling bro . I'm worried about you man . Calm down and root for the Boston Bruins and you'll be happier 😊
Bigger dang-it: the Jackets then lost that game, miserably, to the Pens.
So glad that Pavelski goal made it in. You gotta watch that from the stars broadcast, Razor calls it the "Maverick", Because he hit the breaks, and they flew right by.
Igor. You didn't win The Norris Trophy for Best Defenseman. You won The Vezina Trophy for Best Goaltender, So, Tend The Goal! LOL
Ahhh, but if they overturned the penalty, then they would be opening the door for others to say "You did it for them, so you have to do it for us."
Or maybe they can change the rules to make room for some common sense. 😔
@@timmywil Sure, they can do that, but not in the middle of a season, much less in the middle of a game.
I still feel like if a goalie makes a penalty they sit out for the time of the penalty and the cold backup has to go in until the penalty is done and play is done. As a goalie I can’t stand when goalies do dirty stuff and a team mate has to take the hit for it
