The Knuckleball! That elusive skill that few have mastered and many have tried. This technique is revered for being one of the purest ways of striking a football, which means it's incredibly difficult to master. I've spent 3 years trying to strike it consistently.. watching all the tutorials, following all the steps, trying all the techniques. However, it wasn't until I took my focus away from imitating others (1 year ago) that I really started to find success with the knuckleball technique. Now I cant hit one with every strike, and best of all, they are really accurate! This is how I learned to Knuckleball, without having to change my technique. I hope you enjoy :)
    Cheers Folks,

from my personal experience, a knuckle ball is built up by the speed of which your leg strikes the ball, the contraction of muscles in the quads that give strength, and the position of the ball where you kick it. additional adjustments would be to instead of swinging, make sure all muscles contract and give it a pure strike. it's mainly about strength actually, your flexibility and foot stability. sometimes i just hit banger knuckle ball goals without even wanting to do a knuckle ball

For me when I hit the ball like a whip dead center and lean towards my striking foots hip. That’s what minimizes follow through and makes it knuckle like crazy. Full extension of the leg at point of contact and bring leg back all the way to increase power too.

An interesting technique I picked up watching RVP was when he volleys a ball, he'll often straighten both his arms out in front of him.
After trying it out, it really seems to help with lining things up and hitting a shot that travels straight like an arrow.
I'd love to see you do some analysis on how upper body movements and positioning affects kicking techniques.

watching your knuckle ball in slow motion as well as other YTer's I notice the contact is almost like a ping long ball technique except the follow through is not sweeping low and over the grass. It's lifting which makes sense after you draw a line through the ball in your diagram. Thanks for that diagram/illustration because it now makes a lot of sense! If we hit dead center and start lifting we'll get spin, which is what we don't want. but if we hit it slightly lower and follow through as if a line went through the other side, it will not spin. Will be practicing this a lot. TY for your breakdown!

When you hit the ball the shape of the ball changes as it is striked. The more you can change the shape of the ball as it leaves your foot the more it knuckles. Thats why it’s easier to hit with less pumped footballs

its weird but I tried the knuckle ball tech with my strong foot, no matter how much I focus, it never works. But My weak foot, everything is a knuckle ball lmfao, even my passes haha. I realized its because of my ankles, my right strong foot ankles are so used to kicking one way that its stiff and held steady so I cant really open the ankle up for a shot. My left ankle tendons are a little loser so it opens much wider and it hits the ball square from my side foot. WObbles all the time.

I actually find it harder to hit a knuckleball on a set piece, somehow on the move I just focus on the result more and the ball manages to dip and swerve where I want it to. But still can't generate a ton of power. Maybe because I haven't wrapped my head around how to actually do it consistantly

Although you have the right attitude, technic does matter in this case. There’s not many that will work truthfully, your shots still have a spin/curve to them and not a full knuckle, keep practicing!

Ok but how to you move your ankle to the side like that because when I try it it either makes my ankle feel uncomfortable or makes me feel pain
And just make it look like a pass
And I always looked up to junihino and wanted to hit knuckle balls ever since I started playing but they’re too hard no matter how much times I practice or watching videos it always ends up with no progress it either comes out as a ground pass or a low curve ball that just rolls on the ground I have only hit 4 knuckle balls in my time playing and I can’t see how people bend they’re ankle like that and not feel pain for Turning it so far and I have never been a guy with a lot of power in my shots I would say 60-70 shot power not to strong but I have ally of curve and magic on my curve balls but knuckle balls are just hard it always ends up with back spin or a curve or a ground pass😢😢😢

      @thefootballfolk  Рік тому

Thanks for the comment. As long as you’re striking through the centre of the ball you should be able (with time) to create no spin on the ball. It might be worthwhile filming yourself to see how what you could be doing wrong. And no worries if you don’t get it, pretty sure Messi can’t knuckleball 😬

@@thefootballfolk thanks because it feel so weird trying to hit the center with bending my foot all the way to it’s side because when I do all it does is a ground pass

Can any of you guys help me, I’ve been practing for 4 days now and I’ve been getting some good attempts but I’ve noticed every time I hit one I don’t get that unpredictable movement like some people do I just hit it and it flies in a straight line with no spin can someone explain this.

    • @thefootballfolk

Maybe try shooting from further back to allow time for the movement? Also the ball could play a part 🤷🏼‍♂️👍
