That's a cool story about his teacher giving him a 15 minute set at the end of every class lol I bet every young comic wishes they could have done that that's great!
Yes, his teacher did see his success. I saw her telling the story of Jim's classroom antics on a Jim Carrey special, look for it on UA-cam. I don't know the name though.
You can see his talent in films now though, he's a great actor when he plays serious roles. He was awesome in The Truman Show (should've been nominated), and he was amazing in 'Eternal Sunshine...' (should've gotten more recognition for it) I like that he's kinda gotten away from the slapstick stuff because he really does have a lot of talent that people really ignore.
I've seen him do that "scene from _Poltergeist"_ impression before, but this was the best version. So dead on (no pun intended). Such an eye for detail, has our Jim Carrey! And his first TV appearance was in _'83?_ Wow, I wonder if anyone has upl... Oh! There it is right in my suggested videos! 🙂 (With the inappropriate title "JOHNNY CARSON _INTERVIEW_ JIM CARREY Nov 24 1983", in case UA-cam doesn't serve it up so conveniently to you too.)
@Calikola I remember watching Carson when I was a kid, teenager and young adult. I still don't think anyone touches him, except Letterman who is completely different in humor but equal in ability. I may sound sentimenal, coming up on 40, but I miss Johnny. Thanks for writing back.
I am old enough and embarrassed to say I wore a jacket like that back in 1991. I thought the 1970s polyester outfits were horrible but now I think the whole padded jacket thing(both sexes) was far worse.
I have wondered what Robin Williams thought of Jim. Certainly they are (was) both hilarious, versatile though in different ways. I haven't seen Jim in a movie in awhile. My favorite will always be The Mask.
They were friends. There's a vid online of Robin winning an award and on the way to the stage he stopped and hugged Jim. And during his speech he directed a comment directly at Jim.
why do i always imagine the quality of life in the 80's/90's to be what it is on their cameras? in this case, in the 90's people could only hear through their left ear, had bad vision, and talked or heard things weirdly.
I was eight years old when he started becoming really famous, and I thought he was just the hottest man alive. I was bound and determined to marry this man when I grew up. I...was a weird kid.
Jim was trying really hard, but those bits were super unfunny. And that jacket/sweater thing with the shoulder pads he was wearing . . . that just reeks of early 90's Canadian fashion.
Hey guys, here's something i do when i don't like what a performer does: i don't watch videos with them in it on you-blooming-tube. Alternaternatively you can carry on punishing yourselves and leave pointless comments that will not make any bit of difference. The choice is yours.
OMG! Perfect Poltergiest imitation. Great facial expression. I remember watching sesame street with my kids and he was on and did happy/mad/sad feet. I think it was before In Living Color.
Jim Carrey's best three films are Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber and The Mask. That was just a great year with those films. He is one of the greatest actors and defo the funniest, i have grew up absolutely loving Jim Carrey.
i think its so strange cuz this is basically the only interview i've ever seen where Jim talks about his daughter! other than of course when they talk about her being the "..." on "Merrily Merrily Merrily..."
Jim is from Toronto my city. To me he is a legend.
Have always loved Jim. He's one of the best.
And a living cartoon.
As a talk host Johnny Carson was in a league of his own. It was great growing up and being able to watch Johnny at 11:30 PM. Gone but not forgotten.
was someone getting burned alive at the beginning?
LOL!
Ya probably recorded over nazi germany videos so theres no proof
For real! I said woah headphones are on sir! 😂
Think that was kinison
@@spencermcdonald6384 nice call!

I love it
Once my teacher gave me the entire class to imitate a Muslim accent 🤣🤣
I'm not fuckin kiddi
Johnny was such a classic. We really don't have an equal to him these days and I wish we did.
Carson is sucha' legend. Two legends in that business..
Carson & Carrey - The greatest hosts and the funniest man, of all time.
you can tell Johnny is impressed with his talent and charm. this reminds me of the Letterman/Farley interviews :)
The Wile E. Coyote bit gets me every time!
Why has no one commented on the bizzare screaming from no one that can be seen that starts this video?
+Ian Michalski Listen carefully; that's David Letterman screaming at start of video.
true!
There was no scream
yea that fucking annoyed me
lol how could you miss that
"Its not like we didn't plan it!"
LOL
I think he is 1 of those comedians that are 100% genuine. Up there with Seinfeld, Murphy, Pryor, Rivers, ect .
The Kevin Bacon impression is the best thing ever.
You can see his talent in films now though, he's a great actor when he plays serious roles. He was awesome in The Truman Show (should've been nominated), and he was amazing in 'Eternal Sunshine...' (should've gotten more recognition for it)

OMG His Wiley Coyote impression was hilarious I was crying I was laughing so hard
One of the most gifted entertainers ever in my book.
Ed McMahon being electrocuted at 0:00 ?⚡
Ah, Jim Carrey! One of my favourites. Grew up just down the road from me (!?)
"It's not like we didn't plan it!!" HAHA, I love that part xD Gah he's truly something :D
~Marie
Absoluetly.

Jim Carrey without a doubt is a comical genius.
Thanks for sharing this clip.

Alright then
They were friends. There's a vid online of Robin winning an award and on the way to the stage he stopped and hugged Jim. And during his speech he directed a comment directly at Jim.
I think it's hilarious that as the token white guy he is the most famous person from In Living Color.
This is when I loved Jim Carrey! Not any more. He is now truly disturbed in real life and has gone off the deep end.
I'm pretty sure Jim is just fine. All the money and ability to tell the World to F off is what he's always been about.
Love him! He's the funniest person ever! Great and classic interview, so old school! Love it
Wow, he knocked it out of the park. What a great interview/performance.
World loves jim carrey
He is soo funny and Jim is a seriously good actor.
I bet he picks up his own poop in the park.
@poop101 someone got killed. or jim carrey being a prankster and screaming right into the mic
love that vest...early 90's -- best styles ever! Everything bright and vibrant...
*Clicks on video*
AAAAAHHHH!!!!
Me: AAAAAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! WHO THE FUCK IS SCREAMING AT ME!!!
Lmfao 😂😂😂
You know, I never guessed he was this talented from the movies. He really has something to offer! : )
why do i always imagine the quality of life in the 80's/90's to be what it is on their cameras?
in this case, in the 90's people could only hear through their left ear, had bad vision, and talked or heard things weirdly.
Yep . And it was awesome
I liked when he talked about his kid. It was really funny.
My left ear enjoyed this.
the end was easily the best part of this clip :D
2:04 "It's not like we didn't plan it." LOL!! best part of the clip by far
robin williams and jim carrey.. our generation is lucky to have the two funniest most orginal and most talented guys in comedy!!
Johnny Carson saying cool, how cute is that
"no not TEETEE PEEPEE!" omg his face was hilarious when he said that. gosh, i love him!
damn.... jim carrey's a legend....
excellent comedian and actor his eternal sunshine of a spotless mind is outstanding
haahah, "can i get some eerie music?" "You certainly can from this band"
I remember watching this show.
Jim was a riot.
George Vreeland Hill
Which pixel is Jim?
two of the greatest of all time, carson and carrey
I was eight years old when he started becoming really famous, and I thought he was just the hottest man alive. I was bound and determined to marry this man when I grew up.
I...was a weird kid.
I planned to marry him when I was in my senior year of high school so you are not alone.
That scream at the beginning startled the SHIT out of me.
This is 93, not 91. 3rd year of in living color.. 1:15
Drogheda Drones & Fun Johnny retired in 1992
Chris Christman You're 100% right. Year 1 of living color was 90, 2 was 91, 3rd was 92. Makes sense, this is 1992
Johnny and Jim two amazingly talents performers in one place!
00:00 rip headphone users
I get such a great kick out of watching anyone cracking Johnny up.
teetee, no!!! peepee!
One of my favorites of his. Was happy I found a DVD of it.
Jim was trying really hard, but those bits were super unfunny. And that jacket/sweater thing with the shoulder pads he was wearing . . . that just reeks of early 90's Canadian fashion.
+Tom Reynolds its actually a joke of a jacket, its for a bit... and he was hilarious here lol...
No . . . no, he was pretty unfunny, truth be told. Try again, Looky-Loo Rumpswab.
Tom Reynolds
Your opinion is your opinion brother. Lets just say you are in the minority.
+Kapsproductions rich people are in the minority, too. carrey can do everything from god awful to a laboured average. this was somewhere in between.

To young to have been watching Johnny Carson, but he seems like a very classy guy. He looks like a great host.
I just came back from the dentist with a swollen cheek, and darn it, laughing never hurt so much.
he passed away January 23, 2005.
he was just amazing.
You have some great videos in your uploads. Lots of nostalgia.
"it's not like we didn't plan it!"
HAhAhA. Jim Carey is the man!
magnificent, and moving to see him so early in his career. i love his work soo much.
OMG! Perfect Poltergiest imitation. Great facial expression. I remember watching sesame street with my kids and he was on and did happy/mad/sad feet. I think it was before In Living Color.
it breaks my heart that hes getting old
I really miss Johnny, don't you? He owned America's nighttime tube.
Saw him in Anchorage, Ak in '92 right before he blew up. Did an impression of an eskimo talking about Rocky & Bullwinkle. Good stuff.
Can I please have a time machine so that I can get to meet THIS Jim Carrey?
"dazzles" is an overstatement, but an enjoyable clip.
So weird seeing him that old on this show 3 years before I was even born
That was actually a really good English accent!
A brilliant interview all round!
Jim Carrey's best three films are Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber and The Mask. That was just a great year with those films.
He is one of the greatest actors and defo the funniest, i have grew up absolutely loving Jim Carrey.
This is one impressive video description, even better than the vid.
love the shoulder pad inserts!
That scene from Poltergeist scared me shitless as a kid!
He does the best accents and impressions :D
I've only seen this guy's movies- I never knew he was so funny!
@Z0hann Right on. That is unknown to TV today. Johnny was smooth and cool around different types of comics. Jim Carrey - who knew at that time?
Jim carrey in character everywhere
that poltergeist thing is awesome!
i didn't even know who kevin bacon was, but as soon as he put the coat over his head i knew right away. jim is amazing
i think its so strange cuz this is basically the only interview i've ever seen where Jim talks about his daughter!
other than of course when they talk about her being the "..." on "Merrily Merrily Merrily..."
the ending is the best part lol
My left ear really enjoyed this.
I loved the poltergeist scene impression ^^
The scream at the begining is HIlarious lol
that wiley coyote bit has me tearing up
'do that face you do that makes people throw up'
haha hilarious.
gosh he was married and had a kid way back then?!
Gotta love the jacket. I'd wish I was born 10 years earlier :p
lmfao!! are you talking about those shoulder pads in thie shirts??? i remember my dad wearin those inside his suits!!
wow! i liked the ending. exept now, his daughter is 20! he rocks.
Jim rocks...wow! i liked the ending. exept now, his daughter is 20! he rocks.
spot on. And he got me into Batman too when he played the riddler.
That jacket is priceless - I didn't think shoulder pads were still in style in 1991. Where are his parachute pants at?
i love both of them!!
It sucks so hard when jim carrey gets a movie that goes right to dvd and bieber is going to get into the cinemas
I am SO glad this is posted here...I was in the audience that night! :)
Bullshit!
Johnny Carson the ultimate king of comedy
I have to agree, that jacket is GREAT
