I own a high end detail shop. We protect the entire bike by installing ceramic coating to every part of the bike, last for years. Once coated a Rinseless wash is all that's needed in most case. My Grom is also coated.
You started wrong by using a sponge to wash it, there isnt much point in spending all that money to look after the bike if you are gonna scratch the shit out of it everytime you wash it with a sponge. You wanna get yourself a lambswool mitt for wasthing the paintwork, it "absorbs" grit and lifts it away from the paint where as a sponge will trap it between the paint and the sponge and you are sliding the sponge over the paint = scratch. Also known as Swirl Marks.
I love you guys, and I love your consumer advice. So when I finally will find £9000+ to buy a new bike, buy a house with a garage and patio, divorce my wife, sell my children, give up my job, I will definitely be able to spend so much time and money cleaning my bike. Love, nathan.
I daily ride my bike (rain hail or shine) 800km a week and wash my bike pretty similar to the video, i've got it down to an hour. I get comments everywhere I go of how clean and new my 2006 speed triple is.
As the title says, AFTER WASHING. When you start looking after your bike properly, it will never be very dirty. Mine is 2 years old and after washing still looks like just got off the dealer.
HAHAHA yeah as if... 22secs: oversprayinging slippery protector onto tyre eh? 1m30... 'Finally apply brake cleaner to your brakes.' Aha. Spraying a solvent from an aerosol over and past your disc onto the wheel eh? Doing this on a regular basis will ensure your wheels will age quickly as the top coat is gradually eaten away. Won't matter, you would already have crashed from having slippery tyres on the way out. Actually happens. More often at bike shops then they care to admit. DUH. For everyone else's info, spray the rag only, away from the bike / tyres, then use the rag on the discs / parts and NEVER allow protection spray of any sort to end up on tyres or brakes or pads. Disappointing.
Lol... Bro.. why r u here.. splendor is hard core bike.. 😂 you only need to wash that in a one or two month.. and just rub a 10 ruppes polish after wash and it will shine like new ready to roll.
I don't understand why they're ws[raying plastic protectant everywhere too, seems sloppy and a waste of time. Why not spray your cleaner/protectant/whatever onto a cloth and wipe it on?
You are actually supposed to spray it on like they did in the video, but then dry the excess fluid off, to prevent dirt adhesion (atleast thats stated on my can). The excess oil is sticky to dirt, i've tried that on my bike, however, i think the reason you dont put it on a cloth at first, is to ensure every cranny is protected, which can be hard with a cloth, but still, any excess fluid should be wiped off, or "buffed" out if you may say so.
you only polish if your clear coat has scratches (polish is a mild abrasive that removes certain imperfections including light scratches), a wax is a protectant has no abrasives whatsoever, it gives a layer of protection while giving high gloss. wash bike first, claybar if the paint is rough and then wax.
every ride in the rain you put all these spray and wax , join corrosion ? i can give you one advices my friend it will be better for you by wasting all these time and money . always keep your motorcycle in a dry place and in room temp ,if it is new from the dealer so put it in your room by watching it make a dream you are riding it . thank
The best thing you can do for your bike or car after washing it is to take it for a brisk ride to remove any water trapped between crevices or on electronic parts. Never wash a vehicle and let it sit.
was impressed with the video for muc off to wash my bike, with so yesterday wife got me a bottle tried it on the brake dust on her alloys, ran cold water on to them them sprayed muc off on them left for about seven mins then ran cold water over them, did this 3 times till in the end got some fairy liquid and a soft brush ,,morrel of the story ,,,,i will stick to washing liquid and sponge 10 times cheaper and quicker,,,,if muck off was to slip me 500 quid i would lie and say its the best product
this is more of a showroom condition, i just remove dirt with water, little bit of shampoo if needed, and wipe it dry. maybe clean the chains every now and then.
so you spend a whole bunch of time cleaning and detailing your bike, than you spray brake clean on your rotors only for brake clean and dirt to go on your clean rims?
It might help the bike but to be honest, who would spend that much money on these things plus spend that much time ... I'd rather cruise my bike around the city then sit and wash it, i think a good 15/20 min wash with warm soapy water + microfibre towel/glove and few detail brushes will be just fine...
I use a paintbrush and fresh engine oil once a week, I also use another one to clean the chain before applying fresh lube, my chains usually last around 25k miles without getting tight links.
Everyone should know by now...you never use a sponge these days. Sponge + metallic paint = swirl marked paint. Also why would you remove wax and then apply it? Wax naturally wears off. You want as many wax coats as possible to protect. You can keep layering coats. Makes no sense taking a healthy coat off to put the same back on. Id only ever remove wax to polish the paint (never saw any polishing done) or if you were changing from winter to summer wax but even then get an all year rounder.
Just ride the damn bike, and spray it down with water from time to time. All this crap about shines and protectants. The bikes are designed to be exposed to the elements for shits sake. Are you going to use Q-tips to get in all the nooks too? Ha
That depends on what you ride, obviously. I have a 2017 1299 Panigale S and I ride hard on a daily basis. Should I treat it as you treat your 8 year-old Honda?
I've been cleaning my bikes for ages and I still cannot do it well! Now I just use Spray Cleaner and Polish with a microfiber towel and wipe my 748 down. Shame... I'd love to have my duck that pretty again.
You dont need to do all that xD That bike looks like it only was rode once. A bike is made to be driven. It will get dirty but you don't need to go this deep. Just water would be fine and then drying it? just ride it! Air dry! free and fun!
Water repellent sprays are a must if you want to keep rust at bay on exposed metal parts, wax is good but not totally necessary. But all depends on how much you care really.
If you actually ride your bike a lot in all kinds of weather then if it's going to rust it will rust no matter how much wax/repellents you slap on it. If you are really bothered by rusty bits and fasteners just replace them with stainless steel ones.
iSYKE Use ACF-50 much better than just a WD40 type product or other water replant. You bike will no rust at all if you use it right. It will also remove surface rust and prevent it coming back on older metal. BTW I ride in all weather and right through winter and my bike is rust free.
what protective are you using?
I own a high end detail shop.
We protect the entire bike by installing ceramic coating to every part of the bike, last for years.
Once coated a Rinseless wash is all that's needed in most case.
My Grom is also coated.
What product do you use? It can be nice if you put like some links to a shop and maybe a longer video explaining how to properly use the products
I agree with that, made that mistake at my old bike and scratched some nice deep furrows into my headlamp-glass ^^
+Stuart D89 nice suggestion..new way to wash my bike...before this using some kind of washing cloth but still make this swirl marks.thanks though
lambs wool is actually really needed for using compounds or polishes. using a microfiber washcloth would be your best bet.
I bet this bike has about 5 miles on the odo, tops!
Links for the products used would have been nice...
I love you guys, and I love your consumer advice. So when I finally will find £9000+ to buy a new bike, buy a house with a garage and patio, divorce my wife, sell my children, give up my job, I will definitely be able to spend so much time and money cleaning my bike. Love, nathan.
I'm loving the production quality of these new videos. A lot of effort has gone into these :) keep it up!
lol as a everyday commuter this cleanIng method is way too much work and excessive, this is more for the weekend warriors
I do mine like this once a month. Then just rinse, spray with much off, rinse off as and when needed. I ride mine 7 days a week in all weather too.
There's a difference between a full detail and a maintenance wash.
I daily ride my bike (rain hail or shine) 800km a week and wash my bike pretty similar to the video, i've got it down to an hour. I get comments everywhere I go of how clean and new my 2006 speed triple is.
Personally, I don't apply wax on gas tank where my legs grip during the corners. It looks nice, shiny and slippery.
next time do it with an actual used bike and not with one right from the dealer.
As the title says, AFTER WASHING. When you start looking after your bike properly, it will never be very dirty. Mine is 2 years old and after washing still looks like just got off the dealer.
Exactly, they're doing it on a showroom bike. 😃
yes
My bike is over 20 years old and still looks like its came out the showroom yesterday. I'm OCD mind 😉
I wash my bike twice!Once when I buy it,and then when I sell it!😁👍
Hey what your protection in the black spray can, an were can you buy it
I use that plastic spray on everything. It makes a huge difference! I highly advise it!
Honestly, this video and last washing video I had no idea what the they were using and didn't even notice any brands until someone pointed them out
where do I get all the cleaning and protecting stuff? bike shop or hardware?
HAHAHA yeah as if...
22secs: oversprayinging slippery protector onto tyre eh?

I really couldnt agree more with ya bro! Great comment! I hope people read it!
Very professional video, and an absolutely beautiful looking Kawasaki. Thx, MCN!
No need for all that expense and effort. A can of Mr Sheen does Just as good a job for a lot less.
Can you put upp the links for all the produkts you use?
Did you ever find them? I'm looking also
it seems to be swiss vax line of product
Muc off products
First highway trip and all that hard work goes down the drain for me, my bikes are like bug magnets.
Is it used disk clener is chain clener eny one pls reply
Are other cleaning products available?
Should i do all these for my luna or chetak...?.!
should i do all these for my splendor.....
Chandan G no u shouldn't😂😂
Lol... Bro.. why r u here.. splendor is hard core bike.. 😂 you only need to wash that in a one or two month.. and just rub a 10 ruppes polish after wash and it will shine like new ready to roll.
Meh I spray my 17 year old kle 500 with the hose some times if the reg plate starts to become unreadable
Be nice to know what the products are ? .
Do not get brake cleaner on your painted rims. Will remove shine fast. :(
was looking for that. DO NOT SPRAY BRAKE CLEANER OR ANYTHING PAINTED OR PLASTIC. Disgusting.
I don't understand why they're ws[raying plastic protectant everywhere too, seems sloppy and a waste of time. Why not spray your cleaner/protectant/whatever onto a cloth and wipe it on?

what paddock stands are those guys? anyone know?
Is this for riding, or for looking at?
Show room bike?
That's what I do :)
I'm all for keeping the bike looking good but for me first and foremost it's my transportation, not a showroom model.
can you put all products links that you used
swissvax
My poor Z1k only got washed when it rained and my way of protecting was spray a coat of flat black every few months...
And that’s regular brake cleaner? Does that prevent rust buildup?
What are the items used?
This tutorial was much helpful!
You even use that bike protectant spray on your chain? Will that be alright on top of your chain lube?
The rear is an Oxford OF 720 Aluminum paddock stand. Not sure about the front.
This vid is actually product placement for Muc Off...
Yes.
Okay so what product did you guys use did I miss something
hey buddy can you please tell me about your total kit to keep the bike clean and in brand new condition?
It's from muc off
what the first step after finishing washing ? use wax ? or polish , im use meguiars wax , and lic's polish , im confusee
you only polish if your clear coat has scratches (polish is a mild abrasive that removes certain imperfections including light scratches), a wax is a protectant has no abrasives whatsoever, it gives a layer of protection while giving high gloss. wash bike first, claybar if the paint is rough and then wax.
any alternative for brake cleaner
what about lubing the chain?
A can of Suzuki spray cleaner is the best stuff out there whether you own a Suzuki or not. That and a microfiber towel and your bike is flawless.
yes...thats the point
Won't the overspray from the brake cleaner harm the wheels?
just use Original Bike Spirits spray cleaner and polish. From any local shop, ten bucks a can.
every ride in the rain you put all these spray and wax , join corrosion ? i can give you one advices my friend it will be better for you by wasting all these time and money . always keep your motorcycle in a dry place and in room temp ,if it is new from the dealer so put it in your room by watching it make a dream you are riding it .
thank
completely agree with your post...
Are u f kidding me? Do you ride your bike or are you looking @ it in the garage and shine events?
The best thing you can do for your bike or car after washing it is to take it for a brisk ride to remove any water trapped between crevices or on electronic parts. Never wash a vehicle and let it sit.
Yeah what was that was remover? Always wax over old wax, never thought of removing old
Just use washing up liquid mate, this removes the old wax to but cheaper!
What chemicals are in the product?
There's a really good review of corrosion inhibitors on youtube (looking at all the major products)... Muc-Off did really poorly.
sir can I use a WD-40 if I don't have that kind of stuff? please response
Vai wo spray gun online milega kya? Agar mile toh meko link send kardo plz.
was impressed with the video for muc off to wash my bike, with so yesterday wife got me a bottle tried it on the brake dust on her alloys, ran cold water on to them them sprayed muc off on them left for about seven mins then ran cold water over them, did this 3 times till in the end got some fairy liquid and a soft brush ,,morrel of the story ,,,,i will stick to washing liquid and sponge 10 times cheaper and quicker,,,,if muck off was to slip me 500 quid i would lie and say its the best product
This wasn't sponsored by Muc Off at all was it? and it wasn't really a how to video either!
nice job done. that reminds me that i haven't wash my bike for ages... Oppps....
So how do you guys clean the bugs out of the crevices on these new machines?
Use a lot of water and soap so the bugs get soaked up. Then use a soft, correct shaped brush to remove them. No need for expensive chemicals imho...
this is more of a showroom condition, i just remove dirt with water, little bit of shampoo if needed, and wipe it dry. maybe clean the chains every now and then.
i'll be impressed if he can continue doing that after a year or so..
great video
*Gee where in the Store do they keep "bike spray" lol*
Como limpiar una moto limpia
Very well made
Love the bike, thanks for the vids too!
break cleaner could damage the rims...
Now you just need to ride it every day in the rain, like proper bikers do.
Used muc-off brake cleaner and it stripped the paint off my wheels - should come with a huge warning sign on the can.
so you spend a whole bunch of time cleaning and detailing your bike, than you spray brake clean on your rotors only for brake clean and dirt to go on your clean rims?
Crap on wheels especially the hubs. Front stand is a good idea
what about chain lube????
It might help the bike but to be honest, who would spend that much money on these things plus spend that much time ... I'd rather cruise my bike around the city then sit and wash it, i think a good 15/20 min wash with warm soapy water + microfibre towel/glove and few detail brushes will be just fine...
so professional video from music to the work
Fuck that! £50 worth of products and it gets ditched again as soon as it rains.
jesus how many kms does this bike have on it??? 5?
Belo video!
I don't see how you lubed your chain.
my main reason I came here for.
Maybe look for a video called "How to lube my chain". How hard is it anyway?Just spray it on
how about read the sentence properly,
title is, "Protect your bike after washing | How to | Motorcyclenews.com"
and lubing chain is missing, dumbass.!
I use a paintbrush and fresh engine oil once a week, I also use another one to clean the chain before applying fresh lube, my chains usually last around 25k miles without getting tight links.
@@fornicateu2 you put fresh engine oil on your chain once a week?
@@TheDeceptikron yes
who the heck waxes in a linear motion :-/
Never use wax on plastic read the back of it it tells you not on plastic an you need maxi chain cleaner kit
I wouldn't personally recommend using paper towel to clean the discs... you just end up with loads of tiny bits of shredded paper towel :)
Missed some bits on the front headlight cowl lol
Nice ! that is well delivered
Honda pro polish does all that in one can
My bike is 17 years old and kind of ratty, though some good tips for when I inevitably buy a brand new bike lol

That depends on what you ride, obviously. I have a 2017 1299 Panigale S and I ride hard on a daily basis. Should I treat it as you treat your 8 year-old Honda?
I use a tooth brush and small paint brush to get into all the small spaces.
I can smell the bullshit all the way over here Pedro.
exactly, I wash my bike only if i cannot see it in the garage.
I've been cleaning my bikes for ages and I still cannot do it well! Now I just use Spray Cleaner and Polish with a microfiber towel and wipe my 748 down. Shame... I'd love to have my duck that pretty again.
only mcn!
Will WD40 work for the first step?
I know this is old but yes WD40 is the same protectant and disperses moisture and lubes and protects.
+John Martin And fucks up rubber
Nice
Wow, no wonder the ozone layer is growing, with all those aerosols!
Cleaning a Brand New Bike...Great Job ;-)
thats not your Level MCN
Put wax or polish??? Two totally different products used for different things....
Why bother with this. Just throw ur bike away and get a new one
Weekend warrior cleaning. Not for the everyday rider
Honda Spray cleaner and polish
Viewing tip: Hit Play, Hit Mute, Enjoy. (music is beyond annoying)
