RIFT did this...originally went free to play, offered something similar to the wow token (before wow token existed btw) and cosmetics and low level gear for sale. The first implementation...was fine; nothing power based- but guess what happened over time? I agree is 1000% a slippery slope that will not end well. honestly the mythic BOEs+Wow token already has ptw elements... NOW...SADLY, if I still played WoW I would buy this mount- and they don't need many people to buy them either- just like the wow token+BOE thing; if you were a mythic raider back in 8.3 and gave a shit about corruption...most of us were buying tokens to out-compete the bad RNG on corruption gear. It's shitty, really shitty. that said; I don't play WoW anymore...so I don't have to stress directly about it. I'm only posting because I still care about the gaming industry. tbh; in contrast FFXIV does a nice job having a store that's 'controlled' with ETHICS. The issue is; I do not trust any AAA American based gaming company to be ethical at all.

This is exactly the problem. It was kinda okay if they put yearly 1-2 mounts to the shop (for 20ish money) or when they include mounts for long term subs. This mount is priced agressivly and they let you to have reasonings: "but it is cheaper than 5m in game old long boy" " I always wanted this" and such I'm also a mount collector and gold maker. Usually 2m per season, but I'm very thorned to make my decission to purchase it even for earned gold. If they'd have reintroduced the old one in game for gold then maybe I'd not see this horrible as it is. Though this mount won't break the game, but the next...

To buy enchants/gems/socket slots for Upgrades during raids without being a burden to the raid group. To keep a close eye on the AH to make profit during any of my adventures. You can't compare this game to an FPS game, FPS are basic there is only 1 thing to do in those games and that's shoot people. I didn't buy this mount as a cosmetic to show it off, I bought it as tool to make life easier. Fortunately i only work 1 1/2 hrs for the mount and that seems fair to me. cause to farm the 5 mil gold i would need to farm like 30 hrs. and its a pragmatic decision for me. i have limited life and gamtime. this mount is crazy in terms of value. and since i have a well paid job, i am very happy to own this.

I just mail my shit once a day to my alt who is parked by an AH. It takes care of reposting what didn't sell and has an empty inventory as it is only dedicated for that purpose. For a once a day thing it suits me.
