Artemis is the Ancient Greek goddess of the hunt, wilderness, wild animals, chastity and the moon. I think this would be a great name for her. Or you could go with the roman version Diana.
SHUSH! 🤫😉 If you mix 17% surgical spirit with UV resin, you can spray it with an airbrush. That's the best ratio I've found to get a micron coat that can cure quickly with a good light.
i would make one point about the eyes: while they are scarier with the vertical pupils, you could possibly get the best of both worlds with something that functions animatronically more like a cat's pupils.. cats as you know are able to constrict their pupils from round to vertical, and being that a raptor was a ground dwelling predator, i personally see no reason why their eyes might have been more akin to a cat's eyes than a bird's eyes. after all, until someone unearths a perfectly preserved dinosaur eye, we wont really know for sure what kind of eyes they had
Adding a "bronchial tube" from the mouth to a bellows under the operator's arm might also serve as a way to pull outside air into the belly and keep it from getting so hot. It could also be used to provide audible "breathing" and snorting sounds.
This continues to be my favorite series of videos this channel has ever posted. Such an incredible build but it’s also so great seeing all these people working together and interacting and exchanging tips and ideas and stuff
When I was about 13 years old, I emailed Living with Dinosaurs acting like a big shot who just wanted one of the raptor costumes. They responded with a very friendly and appropriate message about how complicated and special they were. I was obviously devastated, but, watching this whole series has let me see how awesome these costumes are, and how personal they must be. I still don't have my own raptor costume! But, this has given me a little glimpse into it. Thanks!
That... is just freaky! In the hands of a good puppeteer, with the right lighting, it just beats the crap out of anything CGI could ever hope to do! Practical effects ROCK, every time!
This has been such a joy to watch. Having so many creative and scientific people coming together to make something come to life has been amazing to see. I really can’t wait to see the animatronics and I really hope you add some fans in there!
Agreed, that would be of practical assistance. Also, if the exhaust air was from the mouth area, then it would serve a dual purpose, as it could release warm air in to the faces of onlookers, adding an additional touch or realism for them.
I have no idea how the cameras will work but I was thinking those nostrils look like the perfect place to put a pair of tiny spy cameras so you get an awareness of where the head is.
Watching your vids always get me in a wonderful mood Adam. It's so contagious to see you enjoy what you do with the same awe and wonder of a little child ❤
Such an incredible build! I can't wait to see the final, with animatronic eyes? I have been thinking I wish she could blink, and you're going to do it! Amazing.
Um, hello? She's a beautiful warrior, stealthy, powerful, it's obvious! Athena! Also, gosh I love her so much! I wasn't sure about the computer choice at first, but the more you guys layered the more I was like... Oh yeah.
This is amazing, I love how much passion everyone in the shop has about this project, and it was really fun to see you both almost get emotional about this dream come true of being able to puppet a life size dinosaur!
Guys.............. What a stunning build, like you said, I swear the eyes are moving. Great camera work too, some of those angles with her head in the foreground while you're painting her neck and back, I was so expecting her to blink. I can't wait to see her progress. Dream job guys ❤️
Only if your team feels like there's time, and will, but I would love to watch a collected super-cut movie of this project. Naturally, it needs to include footage taken "in the wild" so it won't be until at least one more part to this series wrapping up this long term project with a bow. Nicely done! I was also seeing the life, and movement in the eyes, too. The articulation was also top tier; excellent first look at the puppeteering. While battery powered fans aren't very quiet, they do get frequently recommended for minor heat relief they provide by moving the air in the confined space. On a pleasant day with a light breeze, I could see the costume being less muggy naturally, but at least one fan angled toward the face will do a lot of good. Another thought I have is that while the costume is heavy enough as it is, you might be able to jury rig an air-draw system, kinda like one of those respirator fanny packs for construction, for cycling cooler ambient air if the face fan isn't enough.
As usual... amazing journey from start to finish. I'm sure this will be a great experience when you finally get to puppet it... and, a very treasured part of your collection!
Dame Astraea; the Savage Raptor. A[dam] - Dame [A]dam - Astraea Astraea mythology - Goddess of justice, innocence and purity. And duh, of course it's a Savage Raptor.
It's really cool seeing you in your element, Adam. I grew up watching mythbusters and seeing every different creation you and the team came up with intrigued/amazed me so much as a kid. It's really awesome you are still able to spark that intrigue as an adult now!
Its so nuts... I JUST the other day randomly picked up the rest of this series and I was all bumed out that it wasnt finished and then viola! Here it is. I fucking LOVE this build so much
Adam, Sir, sorry for being blunt here. But this "raptoress" is wonderfully AMAZING. A possible name for her would be Eve (being her basically Your "daughter"). But not giving out such biblical names, we can go for divine-related names. Cannot exclude the stereotypes of such a creature, both beautiful and lethal. To homage Greek myths, she could named after a Spirit of Battle (Makhai or Machai) or their parents and direct superiors, Eris and Enyo, with the latter beign a war goddess, often accompanying Ares in battles. I think Eris would be nice but not really fitting the bill. Enyo sounds good. Makai (japanese name for hell) could work too, other than being similar in phonetics to Makhai\Machai), albeit having a negative connotation. If you love the negative side of things, both Makai and Lilith (first demoness of hell) would work tho. I'd personally go for Artia, as homage towards Artemis, goddess of forests and hunts
Watching the procedure for getting the costume on, I can't help but think that something like bicycle cleats (clipless pedals) would help, because they would allow you to put the shoes on before climbing in, and also, in the event that you fall over, you would be able to it would likely help with getting out of the costume on your own. you can get shoes with cleats that are designed to be able to walk in them which seems like that would be ideal here.
Stella, Rachel, lilly, or Tanya as she's tan colour, really impressive work ! Looks phenomenal, iv been following the build absolutely loved watching, keep up the epic work
This thing looks bloody amazing!! I can't believe just how good it turned out. I'm watching this whilst fiddling with my Velociraptor Claw. Which I made from Polymer Clay (JP style) and hand painted. (Looks sick Adam you would like it) It's honestly minuscule in comparison to her Death claws, but as we know the Velociraptor in real life would not have been much larger than a chicken. They just upscaled it for the movies.
Euryleia was an Amazon whose name meant "woman wanderer." It's the name I use for a particularly special (personal, I guess) starship I designed years ago, and it means a lot to me so I thought, since you said you wanted an older raptor lady who has seen things and implied tough and exploration and... Well, Euryleia fit the bill so I figured I'd offer it up because this build is amazing and she's so beautiful.
I find the juxtaposition between my knowledge that this is just a bunch of inanimate materials constructed with glues and screws, and the emotional impact 'she' has on me, especially when moving around, to be just fantastic. She's come to life, thanks to the skills employed in her construction.
For viewers that don't know, the "Apple box" is a must have item on film and special effects sets. They are in the same pantheon as duct or gaffers tape in terms of useful things to have around. It's just a rectangular box made of light wood, but it has almost infinite uses in my experience.
Adam needs to watch and react to the Fat Electrician proving the bullet through the scope shot performed by Carlos Hathcock is actually highly plausible/confirmed because he did the test himself recently and gpt through and through with the scope on the first shot
You kept talking about her name and I'm looking forward to seeing what you decide on. If I may put my two cents in....when she started moving her head around I was reminded of the song "Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets" almost immediately when she looked at the camera. Perhaps she is Lola?
I think the coolest part about adams mechanical system for the neck, is that its fully reversible, in a manner of speaking. In that, when learning to puppet this beast a spotter can maneuver the head externally, which will transfer the movement backwards to the controls.

Looks amazing! You should add some rubber or opaque latex on the back of the jaws as membrane. Hard to explain, might put it in the makers discord with a picture of what I mean.
This looks great Adam! Really enjoyed watching the progress of this build! I am working on the Maketoys version of Defensor from Transformers as a full stilted cosplay suit.
I love the shots where they are working on her back and you've got her eye in the corner of the frame. I feel like she's ready to flip her head around and snap at the guys if they make a wrong move 😂😂

Valerie the Velociraptor sounds good, or Rachael the Raptor

Gary’s dinosaur tidbits were super fun and a great addition to the build experience. Super cool!
Adam, she brought me to tears! She's so beautiful!
Each person had a different style of puppeteering and I loved it all
When I was about 13 years old, I emailed Living with Dinosaurs acting like a big shot who just wanted one of the raptor costumes. Imagine making it more scientifically accurate, with feathers you'd be able to get rid of so many of the seams
It's so nice to watch two bffs bond over a life-sized raptor.
Lyssa is a greek goddess who is the spirt of rage and frenzy/fury. Seems to me like the name fits.
Lyssa is a good raptor name. :)
That's funny cos I was just thinking Lisa, which obviously sounds like it!
10:52 Wow, you've trained her so well, she's sitting so patiently for you while you brush her 😂
It’s such a goofy angle of her face, like when dogs stick their long nose into a camera lens
This has been such a joy to watch. Having so many creative and scientific people coming together to make something come to life has been amazing to see.
I really can’t wait to see the animatronics and I really hope you add some fans in there!
you need a cooling fan even a tiny 2 inch battery powered fan might keep you from passing out
He needs to like invite a fursuit designer over to the show to make the raptor max comfort to wear
Agreed, that would be of practical assistance.
Also, if the exhaust air was from the mouth area, then it would serve a dual purpose, as it could release warm air in to the faces of onlookers, adding an additional touch or realism for them.
@@roebuddy01 Warm.. and also naturally slighly damp...? ;)
@@roebuddy01 Imagine if It were a BVM, and breathed?
He's going to use his coolsuit I'm sure.
Absolutely amazing! The vertical irises say dragon to me, which, for whatever reason, is far more scary than a dinosaur.
I would call it "Ellie" after Laura Dern's character in Jurassic Park.
And they can go jump over a log!
I have no idea how the cameras will work but I was thinking those nostrils look like the perfect place to put a pair of tiny spy cameras so you get an awareness of where the head is.
true, since it's a dark painted cavity
Watching your vids always get me in a wonderful mood Adam. It's so contagious to see you enjoy what you do with the same awe and wonder of a little child ❤
The funniest thing I have seen on this channel is Adam' reaction (39:19) to the butt stand being put back. 😂😂😂
Didn't spot that, and now I laughed out loud, so thank you : )
came here to leave my own comment about this
@@davedave7038 LMAO same here
Adam's workshop always makes me envious. And she is so gorgeous! 😍
she looks absolutely fabulous!
Incredible! Very happy for you all and all of us that get to share in your joy.
Too bad the nostrils don't flare up. That would be cool. Okay, this is the coolest build of a dino ever. I love it's perfect look.
That was literally my very first thought! Before I even saw this comment.
@routeddown66 yeha I wonder if it's a tough modification. I imagine it should be simple enough.
Sounds like a straightforward addition when animatronics are done in a few months!
Such an incredible build! I can't wait to see the final, with animatronic eyes? I have been thinking I wish she could blink, and you're going to do it! Amazing.
She looks like a Sylvia, that's the name that popped into my head. Stunning work!

The coloring and eyes give so much life! 👌👌
39:40 It's A BOY! congratulations 🎉
Really appreciated the satisfaction and love this build brought the builders/ designers. This is art in motion.
46:02 😮 just to reduce the build up of mold😮 I would highly recommend installing some kind of fan/ventilation system!! 😮
She is gorgeous! As soon as she started moving she came into her own!
Adam reacting to the dino moving was so heartwarming! It was so genuine and cute... he was speechless! ❤
There is so much happiness in this video it makes me want to cry. Im so glad you guys can enjoy life to this level :)

I think the coolest part about adams mechanical system for the neck, is that its fully reversible, in a manner of speaking. In that, when learning to puppet this beast a spotter can maneuver the head externally, which will transfer the movement backwards to the controls.
such an awesome custome!
Its looking so good adam!
Amazing build! Wonderful painting lesson: creature exists. Adam and sculpturer ok moves. Seame St puppeteer brought to life in its habitat!
She certainly has a lot of personality- what a beautiful beast!
Geeze it is crazy to look at the start of the build and now. Nice work!
The most wonderful gift for an artist, engineer, master is when his creation comes to life in motion. 👍👍👍👍👍🤠❤❤❤❤
I just googled kickass ancient women/queens and:
1) Hatshepsut - one of the female pharaohs, and apparently her name means ‘Foremost of Noble Ladies’
2) Zenobia - a queen of a Roman province in 270AD, and apparently she was a descendent of Cleopatra
My first thought of killer women in history was Mary the one queen of England who did lots of murdering, but a less common name felt more appropriate for our raptor friend! 😁
Imagine how incredible that would look if inside the eyeball was a screen with true black contrast that was cycling through eye and pupil movement. The realism.
Idea for sniffing, somehow add little air nozzle in the nostrils so you can feel the sniffing when someone is close.
So cool, it’s SAVAGE!
Absolutely love this series!!!
10:47 - I’m just waiting for the eye to blink and then turn back towards Adam.
Yeah. Absolutely makes you realise the importance of a blink.
She is lovely! The paint is an Epic on it's own. This brings so much provenance to her body; when animated she is fascinating and frightening! With internal sound FX and blinking eyes, okay flaring nostrils, this girl would need an ambulance to follow her around...with skilled body animation she could be very frightening.
She looks so cute! I love her already. Now I wonder what a round pupil raptor would look like. I never really thought about that
This is great in detail I am very happy to see it ))) 😊
Looks amazing! You should add some rubber or opaque latex on the back of the jaws as membrane. Hard to explain, might put it in the makers discord with a picture of what I mean.
You may need a bunch of fans in there as well! lol.
This build has been amazing! I would LOVE a cost breakdown!
Watching this makes you forget everything sh*t going on in the world. Amazing project!
