I haven't really associated my autism diagnosis with Sonic the Hedgehog, but as time went on, I realized it was always linked.
In a world where I didn't feel accepted, I stayed the way I am. People conform to fit in. I never did. Sonic is about freedom, and he stays true to who he is. That inspires me. I will die by who I am. Just like he will.
Oh god, that's a really good story. Like me for example my autism diagnosis was last week. And when i see this theme i was like "Oh shit this makes so many sense"

That's why I love Sonic. He resembles the freedom I wish and even pray to achieve.
I agree sonics is a better “superior fictional reality” there is no freedom or hope in our reality. And us autistic humans are highly aware of this.

I was seeing this video with my headphones, when i heard the knocking sound i thought it was from my window and then i started searching someone in the street with a comically large stick or smt. I saw nobody and then realized that maybe the sound came fron the video. And it was so. You scared me.

As an autistic person who’s been a fan of sonic for almost 10 years, this is accurate.
Even if you Google “Why do autistic people love sonic” it says this (sorry, I couldn’t find the exact quote. But, it basically says we like it because fast past, bright colors, predictable levels, etc.)
i genuinely couldnt tell that the knock was fake and had a mini heart attack. its worth it for sonic (or shadow the hedgehog hes so fucking cool)
Sonic is just really god damn rad, he has my full respect
I have Autism Spectrum Disorder and I love the Sonic franchise, but not for predictability, but for lack there of, every game is different, (almost) every level and area is different, (almost) every boss battle is different, and that’s what makes it fun and exciting!

My favorite sonic game(and video game of all time) is Sonic Generations
I played Forces the most out of all the games i have played(so far)

I can't blame myself or other autistic people really, we always get mistreated and misunderstood by society, and Sonic has always given me positive "Be Yourself" vibes, that's why I love (or used to love this franchise until SEGA turned it into a disgusting mindless money machine) this franchise so much

Tbh, SEGA has been doing questionable decisions back in the 90s. Anyways, what Sega is doing with sonic is extremely scummy.
For me, I have always loved the franchise, but I am extremely frustrated with what SEGA is doing.

As an ADHD person with mild-high chance of Autism i can confirm. When i was a kid i was obsessed with cutscenes from sonic, even tho i could not play games. I still found a way to play SegaMD games on my tablet, tho.

A thing about Sonic i like is the crazy lore of the franchise. Several different cartoons and comics with varying Eggmans (or Robotniks, if you will). Could you imagine if AoStH was made a year or 2 later and had Knuckles in it

I’m autistic myself and the more I think about it yeah. This is pretty accurate and it may also be the same reason why I was obsessed with Thomas The Tank Engine when I was little with all the colourful characters, simple stories but with important life lessons, the expressions etc.

This is so true the best way I could hangout with my cousin who is autistic was playing SA1 and Especially SA2 with him all of our childhood years and that’s why personally for me I don’t think any Sonic game will top SA2 for me not only is it literally my childhood but I have such good memories of my past with my cousin.

I easily recognized Unleashed because of Chip, but it took me until Sonic mentioned Elise to realise that the other one was 06 (I haven't played either of those games btw)

I'm Autistic, diagnosed at 5, what I love about Sonic is the earnestness, it doesnt feel like they are trying to earn the mainstream's approval, this is also why I love Dark Souls, both series' have huge setpiece worlds with endless possibilities and some absurd elements yet take themselves dead seriously, that mix of whimsy and self seriousness is often missing from modern media that tries to lampshade anything with a wink to the audience.

I think I’ve found the link between Thomas and Friends and Sonic the Hedgehog. I’ve noticed that so many people love both of these series. Maybe this is part of the reason why. Any thoughts?

im autistic and heavily interested in sonic, but specifically robotic copies of sonic (metal sonic, mecha sonic etc) and i am fully convinced that i wouldn’t have that obsession if i were a non autistic person
