They had FCC filings for two Walkman players in December 2021 - they're most likely gonna be NW-WM1A and NW-WM1Z successors, but with Android this time.
I am surprised that people are still discussing what might be released. 1. This Image was posted on the Walkman Page on Sonys Homepage 2. It says "Walk" to the next level of sound 3. The Image shows all Signature Series Products except the Walkman. What more clues do you need? Common!
@@ochenGsUp I also agree with you. Android is just a hindrance imo as it only make the battery drain way faster and many more of android demerits like un-mod-able firmware as we aware there are some awesome firmware mod to Sony's DAP. I will still stuck with my 1A for now
The signature series is a very good job by SONY engineers, I know because I have the Z1R headphones, they are very good when it comes to sound, but with an audiophile's ear, I know that they can be even better, but they have a small design defect, i.e. the leather headband wipes off to the bare sponge from frequent wearing I think a lot of people have a problem with this with these headphones. Regards SONY engineers
Hear! Hear! I got a WM1A and MDR-Z7M2 a couple of years ago and now my wife wants the IER-Z1R for use on the move, but they disappeared and even seem difficult to obtain in Japan. Perhaps this is a Mk2 version, the cable was grey on the original, it looks almost black here, though could be due to lighting. The WM1 series are due an update, the LCD screens are mediocre for a flagship (I had a A series with beautiful OLED more than a decade ago) and the UI very laggy even with v3.02 software. Please also bring back the HAP-Z1ES and S1 or update. The home audio range has been severely neglected. We don't necessarily need new products but keep good ones on sale at least! The HAP-S1 is brilliant, I've been using it with a pair of SS-NA2ES (which also disappeared from UK sale!) and wanted to upgrade the front end to HAP-Z1ES and matching amp, no chance! Unless I import from Japan. There's not even a replacement for the CMT-SX7 so I had to buy a Yamaha instead (which looks and works great!), and Panasonic has nice alternatives too and they are not as well known for audio unless you count Technics. Please don't keep all your cool stuff for Japan only.
Unlikely to happen again, the closest thing now is the XBP-800 and 800M2 universal disc players which also handle SACD. The current model STR-DN1080 receiver supports DSD natively, I'm guessing that should be over HDMI too but we are a long way from the glorious past of ES audio components now it seems.
I have the NW-ZX507, and even though the sound is great, there are two major drawbacks: 1) it's very sloooooooooow, takes forever to start / long response times and 2) the battery is too weak, was from the start - doesn't even last for 1 day without recharge. I hope these basics will be fixed, and I hope that new non-signature players will also become available... EUR1400 for the cheaper version here is a lot of money... And yes, the product names are so complicated, no one can remember these. I love Sony and I'm a Sony customer since many many years!
Slow UI, weak battery, high price and bad naming ... I'm with you on all of these. 1400 euro for a player is the price I would pay for iPhone 13 Pro with 1T of storage.
I’m excited to hear the new player in my setup. I have two questions to ask the engineers A technical implementation question - will the new player (when it becomes available in Europe) be restricted in it’s volume capability in the same way the European version of ZX507 is? I was quite disheartened to discover that the systems available to me does not behave as the designers intended in Japan. A research question - What was the most rewarding discovery that you encountered when developing the new system?
So really this was the release of two updated flagship Walkmans, very nice, but in the UK we no longer have IER-Z1R that is shown here, and the SA-Z1 was only briefly shown on the UK web site, coming soon, no price, now disappeared. How do we buy this stuff? Great job on the new Walkmans, although 5 years of progress, would have been nice to have 512 GB on the Z and 256 on the A.
High hopes. I cannot believe how we have gone from highest end to listening our music via cheap Bluetooth plastic speakers. SONY executives if you're listening: not to belittle your effort with the Walkman series... but I believe we as enthusiasts need new 43 cm components to bring our listening experience into the current era. There's nothing like the pleasure of using high quality correctly spaced and laid out audio components to play and control your music. I am tired of using online services or shoddy software audio players. I want new hybrid amplifiers, new modern graphics equalizers and visualizers and new high quality net/file players and recorders. If I need to capture some radio my best bet is still to use a 40 years old 43cm tuner with a tape deck (remember that?)... and If it's DAB I need a portable radio going on indefinitely with a timer controlled cassette in the tape deck!
I read more comments and many people want new technology, low-cost high-performance tools! Such a thing is not possible, in my opinion. I imagine that any large electronics company could produce anything, if they want that. But I think the market is very limited for these top products, and the costs are very high. I believe that these top products are made only for the image of the company and show what they are able to do. I would be very curious to know how many top products were sold in total? What are the costs of research, production, etc. for these products and how much profit remains.
@@marinac7676 Yep, that would be something i probably buy if they not go crazy with the price like the last niche smartphones they are releasing. A walkman inspired sturdy phone/dap with decent amp&dac and 4.4 balanced output.
