I don't know why I'm watching this as I can't afford these DAPS but am interested in their sound quality, just out of curiosity's sake as Sony was the first cassette and CD player I owned in the 90's.

I have the nw wm1am2 and I'm listening to it with the MDR Z1R and it sounds nice, but I think I would exploit it more with an amplifier; I'm looking for a Dac/amp and the ifi neo dsd 2 is making eyes at me ,,,,my question is can I use the dap as a transport to my ifi and as a ?

Hey Marcello. Does the WM1ZM2 have a line out feature?

My problem with expensive DAPs & 'overly digital' products (such as certain dac/amp desktop units) - and this comes from someone who has just gotten rid of an A&K SP3000 - is that they are relatively disposable & will become old hat within a few years -just like smartphones.
I would much rather use my phone - or a cheap DAP that has a fast enough OS & whatever sound - and use my Mojo 2 with it. I've only tried the gold Sony (and it's decent, but I prefer the Mojo 2 sound enormously) as someone offered me it as a trade here - but A&K is far more sought after where I live. I think it's pretty decent. I think the A&K is pretty decent, but I prefer the Mojo 2 sound (enormously over any DAP or portable DAC/AMP I have ever heard, I prefer the Mojo 2 price, and I prefer that the Mojo 2 won't look & operate like an old phone in 5 years time.
Personally, I like keeping my artillery sustainable, and a $3000-4000 DAP really isn't.

This is why I use an LPGT. Runs as fast as on the first day

My 2 biggest problems with expensive DAPs: ageing software, and battery degradation. The software is not a big deal if you don't use streaming services and only play your local flac files. The battery on the other hand will always be my concern, one day my $2000 will barely hold a charge and become useless. Right now i'm using my phone with the Cayin RU7 dongle DAC, it's not very convenient but sound quality is excellent and I won't have to worry about software or battery

@@ROCKSTAR3291 right now I'm running a Sony NWZX707 - an $800 DAP that I picked up for $500 2nd hand but barely used. I only really bought it to use it with my Mojo 2, but quite honestly by itself, the Sony DAP (without the Mojo 2!) sounds as good as the A&K SP3000... has open Android, far more features, way better battery... and about 1/3 of the size & weight (that's by hand/eye). I do generally use it with the Mojo 2, but for quick trips out to the shops or whatever - it's more than acceptable (paired with the right IEMs).
I have my own reasons for wanting a music transport that's separate from my phone, but it's definitely not essential for most.

Sony Walkmans have a reputation for having software locked volume limitations in the United States due to state regulations. Most other DAP manufacturers find a way around these rules but strangely Sony does not. I hope this is addressed in the video. It would be disappointing to buy a DAP and not be able to run your headphones past a whisper.

      Isn't there a software workaround??

I think this is only in Europe, as the two Walkman we discussed have plenty of volume to listen to up to unsafe levels for your hearing with reasonably efficient headphones or earphones.

@@TheSourceAVDesignGroup Good to know that the models you have do not have this issue as this has kept me from considering Sony DAPs

The output power is not limited in the US market. You have inaccurate information. Europe and Asian countries do

omg did you really have to keep using their full name when referring to each player? 😂
