Having been fortunate in meeting this artists family I soon became friends first with his wildly imaginative and adventurous grandfather Geno I sailed many times with him on his beautiful yacht. Then I meet his father out of the blue and discovered what a powerful and positive person he was with so much knowledge in just about everything he soon became my spiritual advisor. Then makanas father called me up one day and invited me to join him at an event his son was headlining at and then I became an instant follower of his amazing music . I would love to see him come home to Hawaii and play again . What a great gift that would be . Makana meaning gift . I always thought if somehow the two great guitars who reside on Oahu Makana and Barry Flanigan could get their management to somehow make the concert event of all events possible Makana & Barry Flanigan of Hapa to double bill w/ special guests ? Staple food of Ancient Hawaii was sweet potato (50-70% of the diet). Sacred food the kalo. My under standing was Hiilawe isn’t about the falls but about picking flowers in the area up above the falls at the small kine secret falls where You can’t even see the main falls. Auwe!
