Where did the cancer spread and how are they keeping it at a baseline? I’m interested in how it works. My mom only lasted 18 months, it went to her bones and liver.
My mom lived with it 9 years then passed away from it.

I have stage 4 breast cancer, and I am an accountant that goes to work everyday. It's important to somebody fighting this disease to have purpose and not feel like they do not exist anymore. I by no means have been written off by my employer or family and friends, but I do feel like I've been written off by 2 of my non-cancer related doctors. Kind of stings. I wish the best for her, and hope that she continues to be in remission.

Sadly everyone says that that has cancer. There’s a 28% survival rate for five years for people with stage for breast cancer. I’m sure with the mind body connection being positive helps tremendously but short of a miracle, that’s the reality. I’m concerned so many people don’t know basic facts on this.
@@jbilotta Many do know the facts about stage 4 survival rates, but what's the point of constantly reminding someone they are going to die? What if shes like those people with stage 4 that have lived for ten yrs?
My mom had stage 4. I hated going to doctors. Whether she went to her oncologist or docs who had nothing to do with her care, most of them were acting like she was going to die right in front of them. She didn't come to be lectured. The docs acted like internet didn't exist or she didn't have an oncologist. Through my own research, I was even able to prolong her protocol on two chemo drugs, which was short prior to that. Her oncologist was shocked.
Remember Valerie Harper? She was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer with 3 months as her prognosis. After she outlived that prognosis, she appeared on Dancing With the Stars, was active as can be, celebrated several more years until she died I think about a year or so ago at the age of 80, and if she didn't have that super positive outlook, I don't think it would have been possible. I'm just saying that anything is possible, and those that don't give up tend to be the ones that live the longest and/or beat this horrible disease.

Finally someone talking about stage 4 breast cancer! We need so much more education about metastatic breast cancer and how it differs from earlier stage cancer. Its good to see Shannen sharing her story, but we need to remember that each person with MBC has a unique experience. Praying for all people diagnosed with this very tough disease.

Shannon I was a nurse for 25 yrs. Loved your personal work for yrs and have seen most of it. I don't know about the really new treatments. But I can tell you women with breast cancer survive and live to be 98 and go on from there. They lived in the late 50s the middle 60s and continue on. With mastectomy if necessary still live to be 98 and living life to the fullest. It is literally all in seeing yourself living everyday to the fullest. If you can clearly see yourself doing it you can. You are in my prayers.

Love that she mentions about men in the business, labels from the media and assumptions around folks who have cancer are incapable to work full time. The bucket list was true. (They should have removed the music at the end) it’s difficult to hear her message.

As a sister in breast cancer stage 3 forever changes your life! I'm in remission almost 9 yrs. You have to be determined and positive and think of what your going to do today and the next plan things. You have to you can't just focus on what you have focus on your everyday life and what your going to do. And put all your faith in God because he is the one that picks our days we just live them. 💝 And her two lifetime shows I think is her best acting she truly is different.

I absolutely adore her, my mother when through breast cancer and I took her to her treatments, it made us closer, like Shannon she was a force of nature doing that hard time.
I'm glad she got to tell her side of the story and drama behind her past. People misread her I have followed her career since 90210 and Charmed.

What is scary is that she didn't get a mammogram for only ONE year. During that time when she didn't have health insurance through SAG (accountants didn't pay premiums), that's when it spread. I have NO health insurance and paid out of pocket for a mammogram and an ultrasound. I had to call all over CT to get the best price and it was STILL expensive! Health care has to change in this country!!!! It's really too bad because I'm sure she had enough liquid cash to pay out of pocket even if she didn't have health insurance.
And she couldn't pay out of pocket? She's a millionaire.
In Italy cancer prevention is free, as it is cancer treatment. What is the point of being a nation if you let your compatriots die?

How awful for her - I’m so sorry to hear this! I’ve had breast cancer and hate going for regular check ups … we do what we have to, although breast screening is free here in Australia.

I moved to Melbourne 20 years ago. When I turned 55, I was so surprised to get a “Dear Hazel” letter from the government inviting me to go for breast screening. And they send me a reminder every 3 years (I think) same goes for bowel screening and Pap smears, all free of course.
All of those are free in the USA as well. I get my mammogram yearly.

@@Donna.Walmsley101 I am a semi retired anaesthetic nurse and I always thought I was a strong person mentally, having been born in a country with it’s many challenges. Thank you. However, on a couple of occasions I find myself getting quite angry. With last year’s lockdown I started hand quilting (hand sewing for the very first time. Ok I’ve sewn skin many times) for my only grandbaby overseas. It started as a single bed, it is now a queen size 🤣 because the longer the lockdown the bigger the quilt is becoming. However, this has saved me and my sanity. Thinking of retiring for real. Looking forward to end of the month. I have lived and worked in other countries and, to me, Australia has been the absolute best, in all aspects of my life as well as opportunities to do so many things.
@@eh8371 they weren’t for me at the time-I was 38 at the time begging and pleading for me to be sent to get a mammogram do you know what her response was at the time? Sorry coz you aren’t 40-it won’t be covered under your insurance. I did tell her that there’s a family history of it too. Fast forward 4 years later and I’m diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer so you must of had a better time getting your mammogram than I did so you really have to make sure that your doctor is in your corner to help you. My family doctor didn’t do squat so no they aren’t “free”
Shannen is such an inspiration to me. I myself have stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer with mets to my bones. Everyday is truly a gift. I initially was diagnosed back in 2015 with stage 2 HER 2+ Ductal Carcinoma. I fought it for 2 years then was NED. June of 2020 I found out it was back and terminal. I had a broken left femur and a broken left clavicle. They discovered through scans that it had already spread to my bones. I thank God I can get up everyday! I'm so happy that Shannen talked about stage 4 breast cancer. It's scary enough knowing this will never go away. Live everyday like it's your last.

I was also diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2020 after 6 years in remission. Because of my cancer protocol I’m unable to to be treated for my RA so I live in such pain every day. Thanks for sharing your story.
I don’t understand how someone can get stage 4 cancer after so long, I am going to googled, but did you doctor missed your diagnosis? Because stage 4 means it was there for a long time, probably more than a year? And I hope you be blessed with a completely healing.

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in October 2021. I am on Ibrance and Falsodex. I feel great! 😀 I love each day to the fullest. I really do. Despite all the not so great things going on in the world right now, life is basically still good.

I've seen her in action when I was a kid. Seeing her still doing what she loves with passion and determination gives me encouraging, because cancer sucks, but she's not allowing it to hold her back. Hang tough, Shannon. You're looking like a beautiful fighter.
What folks don’t understand is that MBC doesn’t mean your done. It just means breast cancer that has left the breast area . I’m glad she is speaking out. I’m quite certain there are more of us out there. I’m heading into my 6th year and I am close to having a NED report. (No evidence of disease).
I'm the kind of person who doesn't talk about my own cancer battle or put it out on any social media, I have to say I've often thought about if I could help other women going through breast cancer especially triple negative breast cancer that I have, after hearing Shannan talk so openly and bravely about the battle she's going through it's hit a nerve because I realise it does help to talk to other people battling cancer. To hear from someone who's going through the same battle is so helpful and reassuring and empowering. Good on you Shannan and I wish you all the best for the future. Keep fighting!!!

my parents were very much in love, she was an RN and he was a firefighter with 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls. She died in 1972 from breast cancer. Our family was ruined after that. I love that Shannon is sharing her journey with us.
