I know this video is 2 years old but I’m hoping you can still answer. For one how accurate is this TDS reader? Mine was displaying 180-220 in and 3-5 out, and what I did was take the water that was filtered out at 3-5 TDS and put it back in the system to get a second reading of it and when I put it back in it read 87 TDS. How is this possible? I also did the same thing of putting the water back in but after using the remineralized water and it read 98, only 11 higher than non- remineralized. How is that possible?
@@kobe9724 it's hard to say for sure. Individual sensors can vary in error. I found mine to read very close to a handheld TDS meter. You might try picking one up to compare readings.
@ okay thank you I just ordered one. Also how do you know when to replace the remineralization filter? I know it says 6 months or around 265 carafes, but I’m sure it all comes down to amount of use and I definitely don’t feel like counting each carafe I make lol. Could you use the handheld TDS meter to check when the levels start to drop? Or is there another method?
@@kobe9724 you could definitely use a handheld TDS meter to see what the finished water read with a new remineralizing lid. But since the filtered TDS can increase over time, it's not an accurate way to do it. I'd just get a rough estimate of how many carafes a day you use, then figure out where you'll hit the rated number and set a calendar reminder.
@ that sounds like a better idea. The only question that really remains is if the remineralization deteriorates over the course of the 6 months? For example the remineralization might not be as effective towards the end of its life span as compared to the beginning of it. Do you know anything about this? I may email bluevua directly and ask them, but that’s the last question I promise lol. I’m new to all of this and trying to learn as much as possible. Thanks for the quick replies as well

@@mike_zander yes, still used daily. I have never had an issue with mold on the water ports. It sounds like you might have a mold issue in your house. White vinegar and water is a good way to deal with mold.
Dear Apex, thank you for your video! But I don't get it... every time you load the Bluevua, there's literally a HALF of water waste?? That I need to reuse somehow? That's a lot, I think. Why would someone make a water filter, where 50% of it I would need to recycle (and pay for 2x water bills)...
You don't have to recycle it, you just have the option. All reverse osmosis systems waste water. That's how they work. The cost of that waste water is almost nothing compared to the thousands of gallons of water you send down the drain while showering, washing dishes, etc.
My tds for the in gets to around 14 on the first try idk y, is that normal? After the first 4-6 rounds everyone after that just gets 14ish tds on the first round and j don’t know if that’s smth bad with the system

Same here. I can't think of a reason why I would want to make less than a full pitcher. You wouldn't need to fill to max for smaller batches. But, you would be guessing how much less to use.

i am not concerned that glass is tin or in my opinion havinge glass carafe is pointes when water tank is plastic, C'mon... what is speed of dispensing the water ? we didnt see it most likely is slow.. or?
It takes about 5 minutes to fill the carafe. Saying that the input water tank being plastic is an issue is totally missing the point. The water coming out of your tap has been through all sorts of nasty pipes, has traces of various chemicals and pharmaceuticals, and other contamination. What are you worried will happen when that water sits for 5 minutes in food grade plastic? The whole point of the filter is that it removes almost all the impurities.
It fluctuates during filtration. It usually rises up to around 20, then falls back down to 8 or 9. I'll check a finished pitcher with an external meter and see what it says.

Amazon's write up for the product within the first bullet point says "When the banana-shaped water volume button and the round water-making button flashing together, please follow the reminder and press them simultaneously to trigger the 6 minutes self-cleaning to flush out the remained contaminants." I didn't see this anywhere in the material that came with the unit. And I looked a couple times. I pushed both buttons, and it was actually not as easy as I thought it would be to trigger the cleaning. Apparently the first couple or three times I tried, I didn't push them together well enough? I don't know, but it did finally go. No water went into the drinking pot. So I assume it just cycled some water through the system (it did make noise for a few mins) and I assume it dumped some contaminants into the water compartment.
@@Gajh2014 l just priced them at about $150 for the entire replacement filter kit though certain stages will go before others so in a year expect maybe about $200 or more
Yes, you discard about the same amount as you get filtered. That is much better than most RO systems which can discard 3 times as much. Look it up. This is a fundamental part of RO filtration.
Does this machine remineralize the water through the filtration process? My understanding is reverse osmosis effectively makes “dead water” removing all minerals because of how stringent the filtration processes is and you are supposed to remineralize post reverse osmosis. Thank for the clarification.
It does not. In my own research I haven't found anything compelling saying that there are health issues associated with drinking distilled / RO water. Obviously we need minerals and salts in our diet, but food contains orders of magnitude more than water can hold. You can always add electrolyte drops to the water if you are worried. You can even make your own drops with sea salt.
@APEX.86 true distilled water will leech volatiles. Thats why there is a market for ionized distilled water. If you ionize the distilled water, it doesn't leech as much. I remember watching a video about distilled water and how destructive it is. Like, distilled water will cause stainless steel to rust over relatively short amounts of time because it will absorb and strip the stainless finish. That is not to say drinking distilled water is necessarily dangerous. But it is a great way to cause a heart attack and brittle bones if you're not ingesting extra electrolytrs, it can strip you of potassium and calcium.
I can't say for sure, because I haven't had the chance to taste this Bluevua water against an under-sink RO system, with the same input water. I really like the taste of this water though. We have good tap water in Austin and comparing to a good carbon filter, I definitely prefer the Bluevua taste.
I used an undersink unit at my old house on the same property with same input water which was awesome, I have had this water purifier for several days and I can attest that this unit makes water just as good as the undersink one did, better, if the TDS readout is accurate. My undersink unit never read below 25ppm, this thing is giving me 12ppm!

Thanks for the quick replies as well
@kobe9724 I would ask Bluevua on that. I haven't used one. I just add mineral drops to my water sometimes.
It seems that the replacement filters are impossible to get now.
What makes you say that? I just looked and all 4 are available for next day delivery on Amazon.
Do you still have it? I've only had it for a month now. I noticed the two holes where the water tank meets the device, water puddles up there. How do you keep that from getting moldy? Do you keep the tank off the device to air out or clean it regularly?
@@mike_zander yes, still used daily. I have never had an issue with mold on the water ports. It sounds like you might have a mold issue in your house. White vinegar and water is a good way to deal with mold.
Is it NSF certified?
Dear Apex, thank you for your video! But I don't get it... every time you load the Bluevua, there's literally a HALF of water waste?? That I need to reuse somehow? That's a lot, I think. Why would someone make a water filter, where 50% of it I would need to recycle (and pay for 2x water bills)...
You don't have to recycle it, you just have the option. All reverse osmosis systems waste water. That's how they work. The cost of that waste water is almost nothing compared to the thousands of gallons of water you send down the drain while showering, washing dishes, etc.
Might have to wait until the re-mineralization attachment is available. When do you think that will be?
I'm pretty sure that's been out for a while.
@@APEX.86 thank you.
My tds for the in gets to around 14 on the first try idk y, is that normal? After the first 4-6 rounds everyone after that just gets 14ish tds on the first round and j don’t know if that’s smth bad with the system
Sounds like a good result to me.
Thanks for the review. How safe is the ultraviolet feature?
It does not use ultraviolet.
How is the availability of filters? I bought this item and I wonder if I will be able to buy filters in the future without any problems. I live in the United Kingdom.
Hard to say about future availability. They are available on Amazon. If you are worried, you could always stock up now.

Do we dump the water below the dotted line? Is this the waste water?
You fill the tank, run the filter and discard the remaining tank water.
@@APEX.86 seems like a lot of work each time ! I usually add water once the pitcher is full, and dump the remaining water once in a while ,seem to be ok the numbers are low on the indicator
@@agam8752 they say specifically not to do that in the manual. You are consuming your filters much faster by doing that.
Do you leave this plugged in on the counter top or take the plug out after every use?
I leave it plugged in.
can you take the carafe and put it in the fridge or they want you to keep it on the machine?
Absolutely!
I bought a replacement carafe from them so I can rotate them between the filter and the fridge. Super convenient.
I can’t find any reason to use different output volume like 0.5 or 1 liter. Have you ever used different option than 1.7 max liter? Do I still need to put max input water if I want just 0.5 liter of filtered water?
Same here. I can't think of a reason why I would want to make less than a full pitcher. You wouldn't need to fill to max for smaller batches. But, you would be guessing how much less to use.
How do I clean this unit-zero instructions and the plastic harbors mold
I follow all steps from blueva video, no water comes to the carafe 😞
Email their support. I'm sure they will make it right.
Is the reservoir tank and carafe dishwasher safe?
They say it is. But honestly, for how little I wash them, I just do it by hand.
Do you have to flush the filters out five times each time after the first time you get it?
No. That's a one time thing for a set of filters. New filters should be flushed though.
What buttons do u press on the RO system to flush the filters?
Do you have a link to the filters replacement my needs soon to swap out olease?
Just search for them on Amazon.
Great review, however, never mentioned price. This seems to be an issue with many reviewers on UA-cam. Also, others ways to purchase than Amazon as I along with alot of others don't do business with Amazon. Thanks.
Feel free to search for other retailers that carry this model. The focus of my review is on the product itself, not the price (which can vary), or the retailers I have no knowledge of.
This was very helpful thank you.
i am not concerned that glass is tin or in my opinion havinge glass carafe is pointes when water tank is plastic, C'mon... what is speed of dispensing the water ? we didnt see it most likely is slow..
Filter Detect materials under which level in nano..For example some filter have 1-0.1 μm..Which level is this filter
From Google: "A reverse osmosis filter has a pore size of approximately 0.0001 micron"
How often do you have to do descaling?
I have not descaled in 2 years now.
Will it dispense into a cup?
No
Awesome review!
Does anyone know how to replace and reset the filter? Couldn’t find the toggle button….
How does the water taste, you didn't mention anything about that?
I think it tastes great. Definitely better than my fridge's carbon filter, and we have "good" tap water to begin with.
How long does it take to filter a full carafe?
About 5 minutes
Is the TDS consistent or fluctuates above 80 soon?
It fluctuates during filtration. It usually rises up to around 20, then falls back down to 8 or 9.
I'll check a finished pitcher with an external meter and see what it says.
The ROPOT TDS meter fluctuated as high as 30, then back down and ending on 8. My meter shows the finished water as 6.

Thank you very much for your updates. One quick question- what TDS max is safe to drink?
@@vinaychv You can't really put a number on it, since not all dissolved solids are created equal. Calcium and magnesium show up just like fluoride and chlorine.
Have you had the lights start blinking and not dispense water?
No, it has worked flawlessly for me. Have you reached out to Bluevua support?
@Viva, I am having the same problem. I just received the email back from their support team. I am pasting the email here hoping it helps you. I haven’t tried the solution yet, will be doing that tomorrow.
Their response - I am so sorry to hear the system stop working. Please be noted that the electric program of the newer versions of the ROPOT units has got updated: a manual flushing function has been added to help maintain the ROPOT unit. Every 15-30 days, the banana-shaped water volume button and the round water-making button will flash together, reminding the user to conduct the routine back-flushing. If you see the two buttons flashing, please follow the reminder and press these two buttons simultaneously to trigger the 6 minutes self-cleaning to flush out the remaining contaminants. The unit will be functional again once the back-flushing process is completed.

Mine just did this. Amazon's write up for the product within the first bullet point says "When the banana-shaped water volume button and the round water-making button flashing together, please follow the reminder and press them simultaneously to trigger the 6 minutes self-cleaning to flush out the remained contaminants."
I didn't see this anywhere in the material that came with the unit.
@@HutchinsonJC Do you have to have the dirty water reservoir full for the cleaning process?
Thank you. Ordering one now
do you need to clean it often?
I don't clean very often.
What is the durability/life cycle for this? As in how frequently do you have to change the filter?

once a year for all of them except the 4th one (from the left) and that one is 2 years. Great deal! The water tastes great!
so the half tank are all waste water? I’m kinda confused.
They now make a remineralization filter that attaches to the Carafe
@@templarturbo where can you buy it ?
@APEX.86 true distilled water will leech volatiles. Thats why there is a market for ionized distilled water. If you ionize the distilled water, it doesn't leech as much.
I remember watching a video about distilled water and how destructive it is. Like, distilled water will cause stainless steel to rust over relatively short amounts of time because it will absorb and strip the stainless finish.
That is not to say drinking distilled water is necessarily dangerous. But it is a great way to cause a heart attack and brittle bones if you're not ingesting extra electrolytrs, it can strip you of potassium and calcium.
add some seasalt after. problem solved
Thanks for sharing.
How much litres of water do the filters do before replacement

Isn't plastic bad?
I'm not militant, but I think it is worth limiting. That's why this filter dispenses into glass.
How does the water taste? Is it similar to other high end under sink water filters?
I can't say for sure, because I haven't had the chance to taste this Bluevua water against an under-sink RO system, with the same input water. I really like the taste of this water though.
We have good tap water in Austin and comparing to a good carbon filter, I definitely prefer the Bluevua taste.
I used an undersink unit at my old house on the same property with same input water which was awesome, I have had this water purifier for several days and I can attest that this unit makes water just as good as the undersink one did, better, if the TDS readout is accurate. My undersink unit never read below 25ppm, this thing is giving me 12ppm!

I don't understand your question.
Yes, it produces waste water. It releases waste in the source tank.
Are you concerned that the removal of contaminants are from China's standards not the U.S.?
