  • "tl;dr: The top end players needed something to do, and this provides it, without making any main content or balancing decisions tailored for the minority. The difference in the relevant rewards within the top 1000, outside of flex emblems, is pretty minimal, taking dozens of events to actually translate into anything. Keep the kneejerk reactions in check, and wait to see where things settle, especially since the initial rush is probably a poor representation of the steady state after the fresh hype wears off.
    As more of an analytical player myself, rather than a competitive one, my own goal is just to see how high I can hit, keeping in mind that there's a limit to what can be done with certain gear and memoria.

    Great over view and commentary!!! Speaking as some one whose been a dolphin-level spender and whose initial gut reaction to meaningful rewards being tied to ranking was "well it was fun but I guess the devs are telling me this games no longer for me", I really appreciated your thoughtful and cool headed alternate perspective. There's still no question though that the introduction of content like this has reduced my desire to further spend on the game, but I suppose I won't just immediately quit and will instead give it some time as you suggested. Regardless if this does eventually lead to me moving on, its been a fun ride and I have no regrets on my spending, up until this update this has easily been my favorite gacha I've played in a long time.

      Yeah, usually the competitive stuff is a red flag for me, but for the time being, it seems like it'll be positioned as side content without too severe reward scaling. If it shifts further in that direction, I guess I'll just opt not to engage with it much. Game's had a good run so far though, without feeling like it's very profit-driven besides the very beginning, so hopefully we can get people to stay onboard.

    Don't you make content for the global version? They just added chapter 8 and it's hard for me to reach SS rank in the first 3 Score battles (the dragon boss one was easy, on the first try I got SS). I don't have Lydie but I do have Sophie, Christmas Resna, Izana, and Empel Ryza among my strongest characters. And my team is almost everything between +V+II. I am currently at level 75, I don't know if the damage I would do at level 80 makes much difference.

      My global acct had pretty bad pull luck, so I'm discouraged from really trying hard on it lol. Think it's fine with Izana and Ryza, might need to work out turn order/panels/usable items. Level 80 is a decent jump in both damage and survivability. 8-1 and 8-3 are pretty hard overall though.

      @@whimsical9054 Well, maximum damage is not, I had a new record with Izana killing the 2 ads with skill 2, and 3 Drachen to burst the boss of the first battle but I had rank A (I have S originally). And this time I guess because it was turn 22. I changed strategy to do everything quickly and this time I was able to on turn 14, but this time it was less damage and I also got an A 🙃
