    As has been stated in other comments - you might want to investigate the fact that the system clock seems to be dead - hence the flying orbs are not swirling. Not sure if this might have any impact on the saving of files or settings, but just something to be aware of. Some of the issues with loading could be sorted by updating the firmware - if it is possible - via the USB? (Just a thought). Propping up the boards inside to stop possible touching with some foam and glue might avoid any possible shorting in the future. I'd assume the batteries for the screen are separated from the PS2 - which is why the PS2 part turned off and the screen stayed on - I might be wrong about that though.

There are lists available to configure your games for the best gameplay. A new method is the use of a memory card, which will allow for even better compatibility. Still hdd or smb is the way to go, much faster and almost little to none compatibility issues there

    Those batteries are sketchy to me. You have two 26650 and one 18650 cell in there. the main problem i see is that the 26650 and the 18650 seem wired in parallel. Which mean they will both discharge at the same rate. They will recharge at different rates though. if the 18650 discharges completly while the 26650 still has juice then it will still try to draw from both at the same time causing the 18650 to overdraw. This could possibly result is a violent discharge. but i dont know how many volts its pushing. might be okay. i have a very basic understanding of it though, so if anyone else can chime in thatd be cool. P.S. Def resolder that connection lol

      @blu5758 2 роки тому

      Yes

    • @P_D-px6iv
      @P_D-px6iv 2 роки тому

      The PS2 has certain functions that simply dont mesh with modern PC architecture (especially something like the Steam Deck) and so incur a huge performance cost to emulate
      "Despite a large interest in PS2 emulation due to its sizable collection of games, it is still one of the hardest consoles to emulate for a number of reasons.
      First of all: many people believe that since the main CPU (Emotion Engine) runs at a clock speed of 294Mhz (299Mhz on later revisions), it would make emulation easy on recent hardware. But this is not the case, because the clock speed of the emulated CPU is not necessarily indicative of the ease of emulation. Specifically, the PS2 CPU contains a multitude of custom sub-components and chips such as the FPU co-processor, 2 Vector Units, IOP, SPU2, Graphics Synthesizer and SIF which together work asynchronously to comprise the 128-bit Emotion Engine. In order to emulate them perfectly with correct timing requires an enormous amount of power. Moreover, the PS2 just like PS1 uses the MIPS architecture instead of standard x86 code, thus making emulation slower.[1]
      Another big problem is the emulation of PS2’s own floating point unit (FPU) because it doesn’t follow the IEEE standard. To keep it simple, just changing a couple of numbers will cause glitches to occur to the game’s graphic (VU) and logic (EE), resulting in things like broken AI, odd behaviors or graphical bugs. While PCSX2 allows for the option of either clamping/rounding on both VU and EE as a solution to fix these glitches, it remains by far not the most accurate way to emulate the PS2 FPU.[2][3]
      To conclude on the problems with PS2 emulation, we come to hardware rendering. The PS2’s graphics pipeline acts very differently from modern GPU cards and emulating it in HW mode with any degree of accuracy is difficult. This is due in part to the versatility of PS2, fact that it doesn’t use fixed shaders, or that even the games themselves do not use a consistent formula to achieve different graphical effects. Various type of emulation enhancements like display resolution scaling leads to the typical “black lines glitch” because of the use of a non-integer resolution. While the OpenGL backend on PCSX2 greatly improved on many of these issues, most games still require “software rendering” to fix many common glitches, which in turn slows down the emulation. Although Games using mip-mapping (Ratchet & Clank, Ace Combat, etc...) and games running on the Snowblind Engine are playable in OGL HW mode with minimal problems on high-end PCs.
      In summary, it is not possible to achieve close-to-perfection PS2 emulation with actual PC hardware, and even if it was possible, the results would most likely be unplayable. The PS2 is simply a very complex machine that even game developers struggled to work with. "

    This is what happens when an AI reads fake restoration titles and makes a console.

    I don’t understand how they can do all this but not the IDE/Sata mod. There is an IDE mod for the PS2 Slim which will let you run games faster than the disc drive. Just like Network/IDE port from the PS2 Phat. Don’t know why they couldn’t wire up an SD Card port or something.

    Be careful with soldering batteries, this can be dangerous. Factory's spot weld these connections on rather than solder. Wear safety glasses n protive equipment, your up against battery acid 🤔

    For $600 I think it's got some hard flaws. At a lower price, maybe 350 or 4 it would make more sense. I think they added a lot of value to the zelda case more than anything.

    A PS5 is all well and good, but that PS2 would make a way cooler prize!
    With a few custom buttons and a smaller form factor Flash Drive it could be really cool.
    Also shame that it seems the internal console battery died and no longer keeps the time judging by the stationary main screen.

    Get a Sandisk Cruzer flash drive. They’re super small and barely stick out. 64gb are like $11.

    If someone made a portable PS2 with the proper pressure sensitive buttons and a 4:3 screen I'd be all over it. I wonder if there's any ide or sata connections anywhere on the board that would allow us to bypass the slow USB sd card issue.

    Such an odd complaint about the volume buttons. Why add something if you can utilize something that's already there?

    I always wanted on eof these but after seeing the build quality I'll wait to buy a Steam Deck when they become available in my country in late 2023, maybe we'll even have some kind of Steam Deck 2.0 by then.

    If you really want something like this why not get the Odin or the Steam handheld. It's money spent more wisely in my opinion. I don't own either though so what do I know?
