Sad that these 2 couldn't make it work (mostly Marbury) because man imagine the fun it would have been to watch them play together beyond 99 and who knows they probably would have got Minnesota a title.

Well going by what is said on wikipedia the six-year contract that Kevin Garnett signed torn the team apart. It wasn't necessarily Garnett's fault, but the manager of the Timberwolves at the time.

@Sherman Taylor Ehh Marbury wasn't perfect but I can't say Kevin was necessarily more talented with them I think it was preference of what type of game you was trying to run back then

KG def more talented than Marbury. Dude was 7ft with nice dribbling skills who could shoot off the dribble and do it often. Defend 1-5 literally for an entire game. Guarded Mike x3 for an entire game. Awesome passer, tenacious rebounder and had a bag. Of course marbury had better iso faceup game but that where it ends.

I hope these 2 guys reconcile one day. They were not only close when Steph was drafted and traded to the Timberwolves, but they were also close in high school playing AAU ball . As KG said in this interview, they have a long history, why keep this going especially that both are done playing and retired, and remember those times when they were young and let that stuff go. As KG also said in this interview, he and probably Marbury, would be really hurt if something happened to the other and they weren’t cool. As a basketball fan, it was definitely a joy to watch those two play together. I truly believe one, they would’ve if not won a championship, they would’ve been in the conversation for one if they kept playing together, and two , I believe, that jealousy on Marbury’s part , and him demanding and getting traded and things allegedly being said about Garnett behind his back from Marbury’s camp, lead to the demise of their relationship. They need to sit down by themselves, and hatch this out.

USA might hate on him and not enter him the HOF because he actually help a lot of black players think out side the box which is the NBA. He deserves more the stupid HOF if you ask me. But if he doesn't get it for some reason i think the NBA hof selection and NBA in general is hating on him for help the CBA become the NBA competition. Watch in 4-5 more years the NBA will become trash and all the best players will go play in China or euro league.Too many rules and regulation in the NBA it became soft men's league. The should call it SML lmao

I read Kevin Mchale wanted to call Stephon Marbury and David Falks (then agent) bluff. That if Marbury wasn't traded he would take millions of dollars less and sign with Chicago through free agency. The Bulls at that point were terrible. However, owner Glen Taylor wouldn't allow Mchale to risk it after losing Tom Gugliotta through free agency. And hence Marbury was traded.

Definitely not. The lockout happened after Garnett's contract. The most Minnesota could have offered Marbury from the new rules was 6 years for 72 million. It was Marburys jealosly of Garnetts 6 years 126 million deal that drove the break up.
It had nothing to do with salary cap space as the offer for Marbury was the max they could pay. Whether Garnett's contract spurred the lock out is a whole another question.
