I have to say, Apple have been pretty straight-up about the low-bass/anc problem that was with the first-generation AirPods. Took mine in with a few days left on the recall program, and they just swapped them straight over for new ones. They were well out of guarantee, something like two years out of guarantee in-fact, so I'm pretty chuffed. Will probably try and afford the new ones at some point, when the pound eventually recovers from its severe nosedive.

These are an improvement over the 1st gen buds. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxK5mc3yw4xA7Mf2j6k6n1Uqv_KUgrKdeM Pros: The fit is fantastic. This is the biggest plus. They stay in my ears when running and become unnoticeable. They are tight but comfortable. The sound quality is about the same as the 1st gen buds. They pair more easily with my LG G8 ThinQ and immediately reconnect when removed from the case. The sound balance is excellent, good but not overpowering base and clean mid tones and highs.Cons: The noise cancellation is good but perhaps a little less effective than the Bose ANC on the 1st gen buds. Passthrough mode as not as good as the 1st gen buds making it a little more difficult to hear conversations when in passthrough.
I joined your Discord to ask advice on new headphones. They all basically screamed at me and said "EW CLOSED BACKS WHY". I told them I couldn't have open backs due to a noisy listening environment and the fact they bleed audio like hell to people around me. They still screamed in audiophile. What I am trying to say, is thanks for not being an open back andy and telling us about some decent bang for buck closed backs.
1:29 And they have! The refresh of the Pro 2 have USB-C for the case, along with the new phone. (Trying to find a set of used/gifted ones someone's trying to sell off right now, but they've barely been out one month. So I'll likely have to wait till the Christmas sale before I finally upgrade from my base model AP 2)
i never understand why people think something has to look different in order for it to be an upgrade you can literally change everything internally which is what matters, but if you keep the design everyone's going to say they’re the exact same but as soon as you make it look different even if its actually the same people eat it right up
i just got my 2nd gen Pros today and holy moly, they sound amazing! i saw a lot of reviews but i waited until you posted yours because you are the one reviewer that i fully trust, so thank you Mr. Pods, i honestly love them
I’ve had the first gen pros since launch. They’ve had a few audio problems arise in the last year, but for something I’ve literally worn for 8+ hours daily the last three years, they’ve been excellent. Definitely going to pick up the second gen when I get the chance.
how many Dankpods mic test stories have ended with the guy getting arrested? I feel like it's happened a lot more recently... the bizarre mic test character is getting more lore
i really agree on the part he said that you ‘intentionally’ have to touch them. it’s not only on the airpods either! i have a pencil pro and i was really worried about the squeeze gesture being a bummer, as someone who holds his pencil really firmly. but it was none of that, it can easily recognize when i’m intentionally squeezing it.
Honestly I bought these the day they released in shops. These are noticeably better than the previous model. They kept all the good stuff and added even more, and as an audiophile the sound is GOOD. If an “audiophile” says “ehh the sound is bad” they’re lying these are perfect for their purpose: portable, quality tws buds. They used to be WAYY quieter.
Switch the spatial audio to fixed position. Much better than having it shift left and right when you just happen to turn your head, and you still get the neat 3D effect.
I've had my first gen pros for over 2 years now, got them august 2020, and they are still kickin, I literally always have one in unless I'm sleeping or driving
7:00 apple apparently got sued because someone patented their noise cancelation sound profile thing so they had to change it. They might fix it. Its ok on the 2nd gen because they have different hardware
The wooototototooo example is so relatable. I love the sound of performance cars but sometimes it's just a little too loud and intrusive during everyday life. Hence why I used to have a loud car (and still have a loud motorcycle) but I refused to start it during sleeping hours so I don't wake my neighbors.
These vids never miss. Garbage time is wonderful, and I tune in to the drum thing every now and then cause good drums and bass make me feel somethin special. He is genuinely incapable of making a bad joke. Keep it up man! Also P.S. if you do read this, I'd love to see you do a piece on some Soundcore headphones. Wired(less), awesome ANC, and bass so good I had to pull em up on rtings and I was blown away by the shape of the curve compared to something like Studio 3's or even the HD600's. I know they aren't meant to be reference but my god do they sound clear and with ANC on wide and boomy. I use them for gaming and to put my brothers 300W stereo to shame since his speakers start at 100Hz and these go the whole way to 20Hz. I personally use the Life Q30's, but they're all good and pretty cheap for what they are. Remember them if you ever do another "Audiophile Bargain Shopping" vid!
Weird that you challenge them being named "pro" when you personally have a story where they have been very useful in a professional environment :P Sounds pretty pro to me.
I have to point out that the microphone quality is VERY dependent on whether you’re using ANC or not. If you turn it off, the mic quality raises dramatically.
I got the DT 770s (80 Ohm) in mid-January 2022. I absolutely love them! And although they weren't as comfortable as my old headphones (Bose AE2 audio headphones) at first, they kind of adapted to my head, and now I almost don't feel the extra weight (Beyerdynamic: ~300g vs Bose: ~150g), because the ear cups are so different (hard but very soft, I have a hard time describing them xD). I also think that their sound profile is awesome (a bit more bass and I think a tighter, more analytic sound than my Bose). What I want to say is: awesome recommendation at 9:11 Edit: snoot.
I got my mate James over last night to show him my setup. Tested 3 nice headphones; Senny Momentum 3 (he has some too), ATHM50X, and Samson SR 850. He had never tried the Samson’s, and was blown away by the soundstage and detail. Played some well recorded examples through a valve phono preamp, he had a ball.
I switched over to Airpod Pros after trying the Sony Truffles and the Pixel Buds. The biggest thing for me is the fit, I can wear them all day long and not even notice they're in my ears. The Sonys really start hurting after a couple of hours because they're so heavy, and the hook on the Pixels gets irritating.
My first gen pro’s became borked after 4 months, one ear would never connect even after Apple replaced the ears, I got a pair of Bose QC earbuds and they are amazing, no issues and better sound
My kid brother is in Oz currently for work. I wish I could follow him and meet you in person. Really like watching your videos and you are the one who'd literally introduced me to the world of headphones. I've got a few headphone now based on your recommendations. Keep up the good work, Sir. I’m just had to pause and mention that YES I thought I crazy when my hi-hat would freak my AirPods out. Glad to know I’m not the only one. The first gens never did that. So the gen 1s live as my drum buds if I ever need them now!
Ngl Apple is probably the most evil litigation company known to man. They literally got a retrial in their Optis case because they disagreed with the settlement costs and then they had to pay more in their third trial. That doesn't even mention the amount of times they've literally infringed on patents while simultaneously whining about how they're all "troll patents" reminds me of 2000s Microsoft.
I have my original pros from when they came out and still use them today, recently I cleaned them with rubbing alcohol and the sound like new which is pretty amazing.
I am so grateful i stumbled across your channel and heard about the k bears I got a pair for my birthday and I can hear like people mowing their lawns and shit on like twitch streams
If the airpods just had USB-C and weren't white :D Also Apple making the noise cancelling on the older ones worse is just the most Apple thing to do. I know they have to because they were infringing a patent, but they shouldn't have used someone else's patent in the first place.

Same, I bought them in 2021 but mines were produced the 31 oct 2019 and the test showed a problem so they gave me new one

@@AstonsVintageTechnologyWorkshp did you get the 2nd gen?
@@Messup7654 Nope, they gave me new 1st gen's, if that's what you mean. Tried the new ones and they're good but can't quite justify them at the moment. Will do at some point.

3:48 I bring high fidelity ear plugs to car meets for this exact reason. I love the sound of the exhaust and turbo spool, I just hate the volume it’s at naturally.
Had a SR 850s from your recommendations and I LOVE THEM. They do feel a tad itchy but they are wonderful when you get used to em.
1:30 another tidbit about the lanyard. Since apple had to make the case emit wireless signals to make it work with find my, they needed an antenna. So they just placed it in the lanyard. Clever.
I intentionally scrolled to find this video because I really want to hear your thoughts. As a fellow musician/engineer/burgeoning audiophile, I really appreciate your expertise and reviews. I love all your content, but you also provide me with actual, real world value. Thanks, Dank!
The lanyard is also the antena for the u1 chip.
It is used for tracking the AirPods.
Been watching your stuff for over a year now and i must say you are one funniest people ive ever seen

“Why don’t you get a job”
1:29 And they have! The refresh of the Pro 2 have USB-C for the case, along with the new phone. (Trying to find a set of used/gifted ones someone's trying to sell off right now, but they've barely been out one month. So I'll likely have to wait till the Christmas sale before I finally upgrade from my base model AP 2)
His microphone stories are basically Regular Show episodes.
i never understand why people think something has to look different in order for it to be an upgrade you can literally change everything internally which is what matters, but if you keep the design everyone's going to say they’re the exact same but as soon as you make it look different even if its actually the same people eat it right up
i just got my 2nd gen Pros today and holy moly, they sound amazing! i saw a lot of reviews but i waited until you posted yours because you are the one reviewer that i fully trust, so thank you Mr. Pods, i honestly love them
1:40 wait a second u put ur car keys and sunglasses in the same pocket?
I’ve had the first gen pros since launch. They’ve had a few audio problems arise in the last year, but for something I’ve literally worn for 8+ hours daily the last three years, they’ve been excellent. Definitely going to pick up the second gen when I get the chance.
Look at the recall program 👀
how many Dankpods mic test stories have ended with the guy getting arrested? I feel like it's happened a lot more recently... the bizarre mic test character is getting more lore
I’m glad he can still enjoy the stutututu of his neighbours car 😂
Just here to point out you can use the spatialize audio to fixed mode so it doesn’t mess around when you turn your head
I have both the firsts and seconds and feel that the new ones more round design fits worse in my ear, making it fall out easier. Something to consider
oh, I think i’d like those more then. though I don’t notice my first gens anymore, but when I first got them they hurt my ears
i really agree on the part he said that you ‘intentionally’ have to touch them. it’s not only on the airpods either! i have a pencil pro and i was really worried about the squeeze gesture being a bummer, as someone who holds his pencil really firmly. but it was none of that, it can easily recognize when i’m intentionally squeezing it.
I prefer their sound to Sony’s WF1000XM4 (I hate the fact I remember that) it’s just more…… free? Have no idea how to explain it better

@@padraicfanning7055 the HUH DHUH Six hungeos by Ol matey SENN is actually a really solid pair, I had them for about 5 years now I have no complaints. Tbh I'm probably gonna buy these just because I have the Pro's in my ears constantly, their noise cancelling is great and they fit well. With that said, I SWEAR over the past few months it's felt like my Old AirPods Pros noise cancelling got worse, I cant say exactly when this happened, but small things like my shoes clacking on the ground as I walk are clear to hear now. They used to be WAYY quieter.

They changed the pros to the pros.
Absolutely fire marketing from Apple.
I have them and your review sums them up perfectly. I use them all the time for work and at home and they have yet to disappoint
I had the first gens since Christmas 2020 and I recently got the second gen. I can say that they do have way better bass and awesome noise cancelling.

3:46 best turbocharger impression
Always a good day when dankpods uploads
I just wanted to know what an audiophile thought of these not gonna lie.
I waited for your vid to know how the volume control works. Glad to hear it dank
I was told today that my mother had cancer. I cried for hours, and at least this video brightened my day. Thanks Wade.

Dear DankPods, While you where compiling this video you forgot the audio right channel and for moment I thought I got deff on my right side.😅
Dankpods never ceases to amaze me
I got the DT 770s (80 Ohm) in mid-January 2022. What I want to say is: awesome recommendation at 9:11
Edit: snoot.
Imagine if he confused AirPods Pro 1 and 2 in the beginning and now he just reviewed the wrong thing
No, the 3rd gen case is smaller
@Jaleesa H. no, pro 1 and 2 are the same size
@Jaleesa H. Right 😅
I got my mate James over last night to show him my setup. Tested 3 nice headphones; Senny Momentum 3 (he has some too), ATHM50X, and Samson SR 850. He had never tried the Samson’s, and was blown away by the soundstage and detail. Played some well recorded examples through a valve phono preamp, he had a ball.
I liked when Dank said "It's Dankin' time" and danked all over the nuggets
"Nobody is paying you to use these"
Also dankpods: "they saved me on a gig"
I switched over to Airpod Pros after trying the Sony Truffles and the Pixel Buds. The biggest thing for me is the fit, I can wear them all day long and not even notice they're in my ears. The Sonys really start hurting after a couple of hours because they're so heavy, and the hook on the Pixels gets irritating.
It’s the opposite here. Skullcandy dimes are the only headphones that fit
Fuck it’s 4AM and I BOLTED out of bed to grab my old Airpod pros when I saw the upload. Holy shit Wade
"Well... I'm off to jail"
My first gen pro’s became borked after 4 months, one ear would never connect even after Apple replaced the ears, I got a pair of Bose QC earbuds and they are amazing, no issues and better sound
0:47 they are the same.

Apple got sued for patent infringement and they had to change their noise canceling firmware which made it worse apparently
The true apple experience
Ngl Apple is probably the most evil litigation company known to man. They literally got a retrial in their Optis case because they disagreed with the settlement costs and then they had to pay more in their third trial. That doesn't even mention the amount of times they've literally infringed on patents while simultaneously whining about how they're all "troll patents" reminds me of 2000s Microsoft.
I have my original pros from when they came out and still use them today, recently I cleaned them with rubbing alcohol and the sound like new which is pretty amazing.
Another argument that needs to be mentioned is that the experience will be very different is you use them on Android
People using airpods on android is a niche audience

If the airpods just had USB-C and weren't white :D
Also Apple making the noise cancelling on the older ones worse is just the most Apple thing to do. I know they have to because they were infringing a patent, but they shouldn't have used someone else's patent in the first place.
Thanks for the review! I use the noise canceling as earplugs when I get overstimulated so I’m convinced it’s worth the upgrade now!
Gotta love the dose 😂😂😂
