I love your audio reviews because you have the experience as a musician and audiophile to know what sounds good, without being a snob about it. You know how to talk about audio devices, talk about the negatives, but also make sure it’s very clear how good the sound is, and there’s no confusion. I prefer these over the reviews from big name channels like LinusTechTips (as much as i love them) because i honestly feel Linus’ negative opinion of products takes away from the positives of the products way too much.

These are an improvement over the 1st gen buds. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxK5mc3yw4xA7Mf2j6k6n1Uqv_KUgrKdeM Pros: The fit is fantastic. This is the biggest plus. They stay in my ears when running and become unnoticeable. They are tight but comfortable. The sound quality is about the same as the 1st gen buds. They pair more easily with my LG G8 ThinQ and immediately reconnect when removed from the case. The sound balance is excellent, good but not overpowering base and clean mid tones and highs.Cons: The noise cancellation is good but perhaps a little less effective than the Bose ANC on the 1st gen buds. Passthrough mode as not as good as the 1st gen buds making it a little more difficult to hear conversations when in passthrough.

The noise reduction got nerfed on both the Max and 1st gen Pros because Apple got sued by patent trolls. The iPhone 13 and 14 also have worse noise reduction on calls because of the same lawsuit. Had the first gen AirPods Pro since launch. Upgraded to the second gen pro because they work great with my iPhone and Ipad, and ill get better battery life. The better sound quality isn’t a drastic upgrade, but it’s noticeable. The noise cancelling though is top tier now. And the speaker on the case plus basically an AirTag built in is awesome. You can turn off the charging chime too. I preordered mine from apple and even got it engraved with my name, as i was that confident I was going to enjoy them. So far that has held exactly true. Controls are the same greatness as the first gen, but the volume control is super nice when my phone is across the room. Amazing product and even launching at the same price as the old ones when all these other companies are raising prices was a nice surprise. Overall as a package its a great upgrade.

@@SahiPie its an upgraded chip that can do basically double the processing. Since noise cancelling is just creating an equal but opposite sound wave to cancel it out. @@magicalpotato3888 Not really true. The sound waves cancel themselves before they hit your eardrum, so your eardrum doesn’t move.
There are real hearing protection devices made that use ANC as their basis for this reason.
The issue is with how much noise anc can cancel and the reliability of it, which right now is not up to par for real hearing protection. And obviously AirPods and other regular headphones generally won’t cancel the right frequencies for good hearing pro.
ANC headphones are actually used to cut out medium-volume drone from some workplaces and it’s excellent for that. Long term exposure to a medium volume sound will hurt hearing over a lifetime and ANC works for that, but they would not work for gunshots and stuff like that.
ANC was actually originally invented to protect pilots hearing from droning engine noise.

As someone who recently lost their pros because the case has no tracking, the functional tracking alone is a selling point for me.
The transparency mode on the noise cancelling has really helped me with music listening since I’m deaf in one ear, making it so I can’t hear anything around me if I’m listening to music, and it’s hard to hear people with earbuds just chilling in my ear. With noise being picked up from outside and transferred in, I can finally hear things with earbuds in and it’s something no other earbuds give me.
Update: I got the second gen pros and found my old airpods two days later. I noticed that the transparency mode is a lot better at balancing louder music but having outside sound still come in, which I had issues with before. With the lanyard loop, I actually use a lanyard daily, and that case can be absolutely thrashed without opening. I don't know how considering the lack of clasp. The location tracking has a weird quirk where if you leave one airpod in the case, its location will be delayed, but since the case is real-time, it's easy for me to double check.

I got the DT 770s (80 Ohm) in mid-January 2022. I absolutely love them! And although they weren't as comfortable as my old headphones (Bose AE2 audio headphones) at first, they kind of adapted to my head, and now I almost don't feel the extra weight (Beyerdynamic: ~300g vs Bose: ~150g), because the ear cups are so different (hard but very soft, I have a hard time describing them xD). I also think that their sound profile is awesome (a bit more bass and I think a tighter, more analytic sound than my Bose). What I want to say is: awesome recommendation at 9:11
    Edit: snoot.

He is genuinely incapable of making a bad joke. Keep it up man! Also P.S. if you do read this, I'd love to see you do a piece on some Soundcore headphones. Wired(less), awesome ANC, and bass so good I had to pull em up on rtings and I was blown away by the shape of the curve compared to something like Studio 3's or even the HD600's. I know they aren't meant to be reference but my god do they sound clear and with ANC on wide and boomy. I use them for gaming and to put my brothers 300W stereo to shame since his speakers start at 100Hz and these go the whole way to 20Hz. I personally use the Life Q30's, but they're all good and pretty cheap for what they are. Remember them if you ever do another "Audiophile Bargain Shopping" vid!

I started with the LG necklace buds. They were convenient (if you don't mind wearing a plastic torc everywhere), fit nicely in my ears, sounded tinny, and offered garbled phone call quality for both parties on the line.
I upgraded to the Sennheiser CX True Wireless, and they offer great phone call quality for both parties on the line, sound clear and crisp, offer a wide sound stage with plenty of instrument separation (compared to the crappy LGs, and I tried both the ones that were tuned by Harmon Kardon and the ones tuned by JBL--didn't matter; they both sucked), virtually no bass, every single outside sound leaking in to compete with the music, and a laughably bad fit such that I am constantly pushing them back into my ears even on a casual stroll at the park.
I switched from a Galaxy Note 9 to an iPhone 14 ProMax and switched earbuds to the Airpod Pro 2 to go with it, and I will never, ever look back. These sound surprisingly good, fit snugly in my ears even when violently shaking my head in an effort to make them fall out, have great phone call quality, and block outside noise so that I can enjoy what I'm listening to. Sure, they cost a bit more than twice the Sennheisers, but they work 10x better.

Honestly, they may be worth checking out! I use them practically every day!

I have the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm. Got them for music production, but man. They are built like a tank. I've used them daily for like... 2 years? I always use them at my pc which is so many hours a day, and no problem. I try to not run over the cable by attaching it elsewhere. Also despite being dropped on the floor a few times (it's like unavoidable with your daily use PC headphones) they didn't even get a dent. Still holding up very well, and that even goes for the cushioning. I can use them on anything, even smartphone without even having to crank it high, but the 2-3 meter long cable makes it unusable on the bus for example. At least, without modding it. Beyerdynamic has spare parts for these silly things as well, so you can replace any piece if you want/need to, which is super. They really are made for heavy use. Sure, they are flat so they aren't bass heavy if you're looking for that, but I bet you could use an EQ since these babies have such clarity of the bass and sub range (though you have to crank it a bit to really hear sub 20-30Hz or such). Music like Rezz and other bass music is super fun on these despite being flat, much because of the impact and fun of the bass while also having crisp and not too sharp treble!

I don’t feel any pf those issues have been addressed so I am going to hold off on buying a pair for now.
