I came across a PPE expert who has spent his life trying to protect workers, and he says if you can pass a hair under your mask anywhere, the pathogen is 1000 times smaller. A mask he says wouldn't feature on the pathogen protective PPE list as they don't work, and I'd agree.

Thank you for the info! I’m a healthy 73 yo man. I’ve been using homemade masks (made from vacuum cleaner bags) since the beginning of the pandemic in Sweden, believing that it would give me at least some protection from getting infected even if it’s not perfect. I only use them when going into a store or using public transportation and so far I didn’t have any signs of infection. So I’ll continue with my mask habits until there is a vaccine. Note that very few people in Sweden are wearing masks. Anyhow, numbers of hospitalizations and deaths used to be very high, but are now very low in Sweden .

I’m also from Sweden but much younger! Great that you are wearing a mask, I see many more elderly people doing it now than before! I bought a bunch of mask in advance for my grandparents and so far it’s going well. I definitely thing us younger should were it more and the truth is I think most people want to but unfortunately Swedes are afraid to stick out.

Death rate is very low in Sweden now because they have reached a certain degree of acquired T-Cell antibody immunity saturation within their population. Exactly how all these types of pandemics ever can end. There has never been an effective corona virus vaccine in history, and flu vaccine have a very poor effectiveness rate due to rapid antigenic shift within the error prone RNA polymerase

Michael Solar This is a marathon, its not over by far. The pandemic is going to go on for years. Belgium, UK, Germany, France, Spain and others have higher death numbers and now increased case numbers compared to Sweden so you are not accurate. Sweden’s case numbers are consistently down. Its more important to look at excess deaths, Sweden have no excess deaths since June. Daily death numbers are 1 or zero most days now. No one can say for sure about herd immunity in any location. No one. And this pointless comparison with Norway and Finland...no one is always comparing France with its neighbours or the US with Mexico and Canada.

People must begin to use their own critical and analytical thinking process. The infection rate has drastically risen because of mass testing and not because of people not wearing masks etc. and that should be the end of statement. However the hyper hysteria of the internet era is fueling irrational fear and ignorance among the mass population at a rate never before seen in the history of the world. Increase the testing and of course they will find corona virus and flu viruses and dig a little deeper and they will find herpes and HPV, HIV, and so on and so on. Corona viruses are among the most common virus on the planet, there are 7 corona virus infections circulating the world right now that are very likely hiding out inside each and everyone of us right now as we panic about this one. These types of viruses are extremely contagious and ubiquitous, in other words absolutely everywhere and impossible to contain. However the good news is, Corona/flu type viruses have a very low level virulence rate for the vast, vast majority of the population with normal functioning immune systems. In fact it is so low our front line defender white blood cells snuff the virus at the onset of the infection before any symptoms are even detectable, aprox 80-90% of the time. Acquired antibody T-Cell immunity (or heard immunity) is the only way these types of viral infections ever end (by virulence dilution) and not by wearing masks, and hand sanitizer and vaccination. ua-cam.com/video/FU3OibcindQ/v-deo.html

Wearing masks spreads more virus than it stops! Every time anyone exhales tiny moisture droplets leach right through the cloth mask fibers. The moment that mask is touched by the hand for any reason, scratch an itch, adjust it, pull it down and up, hang it around the neck or ear, in a pocket etc. etc. That hand and fingers are now contaminated with contagious pathogens ready to pass onto any object touched that invariably will be touched and spread on by someone else and so on and so on. (exactly the same as coughing into your hand, no difference) That is exactly how these pathogenic microbial's are spread through out the world millions of time every second of every day; by contaminated hands that comes in contact with any object that can be imagined, hand rail, door, debit machine, chair, table, pen, *grocery produce*, etc. etc. etc. the list is literally endless. Absolutely nobody is following strict "Medical and Infectious/ disease mask wearing procedure and protocol," casually walking around with zero concept void of any critical thought process unwittingly spreading infectious disease around like wildfire. If masks are mandated than proper infectious disease wearing protocol must be mandated with monetary fines as well, or not at all.

Also - the mask is only trapping airborne particles which are small and few to begin with, so you're talking of extremely low amounts of virions, mostly of which are already disrupted from being stuck on the mask. Plus why was the masks discouraged at the height of the pandemic? Results given showed they were in effective and people handling of them ie: putting in plastic bag, not touching face etc...wouldn't happen so was discounted back then.Ive seen it myself, people walk out of asda shove mask in pocket, walk over to Argos and bring mask out of pocket again, with all the pathogens it just caught in Asda! Dear Dr John,
I watch your videos as soon as I know they have been uploaded. Sometimes, I leave bit early, once I get the picture, but almost always get to the end, and find myself knowing more ...
I have been using so many of your methods and advice, like opening the windows at work to get a flow of fresh air. Of course this will get more difficult in the Autumn and Winter as not everyone is as immune to cold as I am!
As for this film, and entirely without any qualifications in the subject at all, it seemed obvious to me that the severity of inoculation would be likely to have an effect on how seriously ill you might get. You confirm this today, and that is gratifying. For once I read the comments [at least so far], and am horrified that people who cannot listen with an open mind would even tune in to your sane, quietly spoken lectures.
As for the reactions of those who claim wearing a face mask is an affront to their freedom, this video should cause pause for thought. But it will not ...
You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink. Unfortunately there are people who will never take the precautionary approach. Indeed there are people who are offended by the merest suggestion that their own firm opinion might not quite be correct.
All we can do as individuals is do the best we can, and it seems to me that in the current situation wearing a face mask in public spaces is the least we can do. It will not go on forever, and if by wearing a mask, I become less ill, or indeed save a vulnerable older or otherwise weakened with co-morbidities individual from getting seriously ill or dying, then it its the very least I can do. For those who choose a different course, then I simply say that there is nothing that more you or I can do.
    Best wishes from George

What happens to the viral load resting in the mask fibres? Surely this will be breathed in long after someone with the virus has passed you.
I can't believe you did the candle experiment. Where does all your exhaled air go? I'll tell you everywhere, air will just take the easiest route, up down around. Why does a cloth flag flutter in the wind.
If the mask does actually stop you breathing out you will die pretty quick.
As for a mask stopping coughing, sneezing and spitting, this can be done far more hygenically with a tissue.
If you cough or sneeze into a mask it renders it useless and just a breeding ground for bacteria.
Also, you proved air does not pass through a mask easily, therefore when breathing in the mask rest on your face which then makes the wearer breathe harder thus acting like a vacuum cleaner on the viral load in the fibres.
Sorry this is just not convincing.
The ship experiment cannot be used unless there is an identical ship where no masks were used. I can also believe most people on the ship would self quarantine anyway.

The very same troops she saw getting a particular jab.
She also said that both she and her mother were offered a 'vaccine' to inoculate against this flu, but they refused, and even thought both women were looking after many community members, who were sick with this 'virus', they were absolutely fine and never caught it. If I remember correctly, there were many community members who received the inoculation against the 'Spanish Flu' who were either very ill or died. I remember reading that those who didn't get the inoculation against it, did not become ill.
Makes you think, doesn't it. Certainly makes me think about what may have been in those jabs to kill so many people.
This is why trust in big pharma is waning fast. Because they aren't as transparent as they should be, with what is going into those vaccines. I certainly won't be allowing another vaccine go anywhere near me, my kids nor my husband. And I'll add my dogs to that list as well.

People have literally stunned me with how ego driven their behaviour can be
FYI, thin stretched cloth across the face has proven to be WORSE than nothing. This type of single layer, thin homemade masks have a tendency to convert large droplets into smaller droplets and aerosolised particles. In lab tests, bad single layer masks were more effective at spreading the virus than using nothing at all. The moral of the story is .... multiple layers are win.

Note that the statement that the masks block 80% of the virus is really from a test on surgical/procedural masks done to see what protection they give from particulate pollution where they passed air with normal saline atomized to 238 nm droplets through the material at 15 litres per minute. This test assumes absolute seals. The same article that did the test also did pressure tests of people wearing the mask and found the seal of surgical/procedural masks to be 65%, hence these masks can be expected to filter out 52% of the particulates and hence presumably of the COVID inoculate not 80%. However every bit helps.

The link to this updated article is:

Unfortunately, articles tend to be replaced or removed over time in our modern online age.
However, Despite the fact that masks cannot be expected to be 100% effective, every bit helps in slowing the spread of disease through society and we only have to bring R0 to less than 1 for a sustained period of time to isolate the disease out of our population.

If one gets mildly ill because he/she wore a mask, will that person severely infect those in their home when not wearing a mask?

    • @ardenvent577
      @ardenvent577 4 роки тому +1

again that depends on the viral load and on the person as well. You might be mildly ill because you do not have a high viral load, in that case it is a little less likely to cause a severe infection, or you might be midldy ill because your immune system is coping very well, but you do have a high viral load. In that case you would transmit a higher viral load making it more likely to infect a severe disease to others. hard to tell

Only 9210 people died from COVID-19 alone. The rest had other serious illnesses.
The CDC silently updated their numbers this week to show that only 6% of all CV deaths were completely due to coronavirus alone. The rest are attributable to individuals who had other serious issues ongoing.
Also, most of the deaths are very old Americans with 2 to 4 co-morbidities.
    Yearly deaths in the USA
    Heart Disease: 647,457
    Cancer: 599,108
    Accidents (unintentional injuries): 169,936
    Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 160,201
    Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 146,383
    Alzheimers disease: 83,564
    Diabetes: 83,564
    Influenza and Pneumonia: 55,672
    Asian Flu (1957): 116,000 deaths, 172 million people = 0.674% No lockdown
Hong Kong Flu (1969): 100,000 deaths, 201 million people = 0.0005% No lockdown
Using the numbers being shown everyday (until the CDC corrected it)
    COVID19: 185,000 deaths, 330 million people = 0.0005% LOCKDOWN!!
    So, after the CDC correction
    COVID19: 9000 deaths, 330 million people = 0.000027% LOCKDOWN
And according to the New York Times:
“Potentially 90% of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 have such insignificant amounts of the virus present in their bodies that such individuals do not need to isolate nor are they candidates for contact tracing. Leading public health experts are now concerned that overtesting is responsible for misdiagnosing a huge number of people with harmless amounts of virus in their systems”

So for all the fact checkers and naysayers go and look at the CDC website and the NY Times.

Plenty of scientific study reference in this vid to show that mask wearing is based on political stance posturing and not on any actual science and that casual cloth mask wearing for the general public is more likely to infect you then protect you. ua-cam.com/video/wegZJI6NvpU/v-deo.html

my good friend attended a consultation with a private consultant in relation to her hormones. The consultant also works in the NHS. The mother and sister of my friend had died of cancer and so my friend asked 'what is happening to the people with cancer?' The consultant lowered her head and replied 'they are being neglected'......'don't ask for more information, it's too distressing'. The two women were silent as they took in together what was just said. This is one of a number of reliable accounts I have heard from nurses, doctors and patients having contact with the NHS. In Burton on Trent hospital there are large signs reminding staff not to talk about what is happening in the hospital: such signs are new. Why do the hospital authorities find it necessary to remind their staff in this way? I regret Dr John that you will not address this issue and the growing challenge to the mental health of the population and especially the children. The collateral damage of the lockdown is going to be enormous once the governments of the world are unable to support broken economies with money borrowed from our future well-being. Meanwhile Sweden looks like it trod the correct path......

Let’s wear masks 7 months after the outbreak, don’t forget to fiddle with the mask and take it off numerous times also. It memes sense, you may catch something.

@David Ward I'll give you benefit of doubt as you used the word "alternately" which didn't register with me. But I'm sure you know yourself, touching face and fiddling with mask is a given. Everyone was doing it at shops then handling items, then you have the masks being washed numerous times, making them even more useless than they already are.

I stopped watching after the interview where you, doctor, falsely claimed that Sweden is still very much in grave danger.
I would like to revisit the topic. Now that the summer holidays are over, everyone's back to work, schools are again open and Sweden STILL hasn't seen any bumps in the curves. Second to none commited to intensive care, barely anyone dying. And the society is completely open, and no face masks are worn. Our deaths per million has stagnated while countries who did lockdowns and are taking huge precautions with tracking and facemasks are running ahead.
When will you admit that you were wrong? Will there be any video covering Swedens relative success? Everyone should realise that you make money off of this videos and that you have everything to gain from scaring people into keep watching, keep being scared.

...but isn't getting less oxygen bad? Circulation of bacteria in the mouth? This is mainly for people that have to wear masks on long work shifts. Also could it affect anxiety not breathing properly?

I worked both in threatres and infection control as a nurse. You get exactly the same oxygen wearing a mask. It you take a change in physiology not too. Secondly the mouth as it's own bacteria that protects you and in thirty years of wearing masks for long periods I have never had any form of mouth infection. The anxiety yes that could happen but again that could be overcome.

Dentists have reported more cavities dental issues, acne on your face. Your breathing in recycled co2 there’s a reason you get light headed your body has to adjust to it it’s not good for you. Created an acidic cell environment, masks also have a negative mental toll, perpetuate fear and destroy the environment. So no the general public should’ve never used them

Time to pull out the sewing machine. UA-cam channel The Fabric Patch has some good descriptions on what they've learned from sewing thousands of masks.
