Of all the interviews he has given this was the best and the reason is the reporter asking the questions. Good set of well thought out questions and delivered professionally .. well done

I see Pat Cummins more invested in answering questions from an Indian interviewer in a long time (maybe even for the 1st time). Good interview👏

She is an absolutely excellent interviewer. I’m Aussie so usually I don’t go looking at Indian interviews too often, but I’ve seen questions like “What is your favourite food, Indian landmark”. It becomes too Indian centric. This woman has done so well to focus on the cricket and her questions are excellent.

When SRH paid 20+ cr for Cummins, it was clear that it was for his mature leadership skills and cool headed captaincy that he brought to the table. Sometimes all that a highly skilled team needs is direction, backing and role clarity which Cummins has excelled in providing and SRH is in the finals looking a well oiled machine & a champion team!
You would expect that communication with an Indian team with players from different parts of the country, speaking different languages, some older, some younger and the team being such a diverse group would be a nightmare for any foreigner in terms of challenge but Pat has made it look it easy so far!

If you look at the answer by Patty Cummins, you will find out how the general mindset works in India and Australia. And Indian mindset due to cultural, societal, historical and economical reasons discourages you to take risks. In India you get bogged down more by the pressure and expectations associated with the task more than the task itself. Unlike other countries where they teach their children to commit mistakes in order to learn, we in India discourage our child to make mistakes and thus unknowingly put this fear of failure inside their psyche.
I have a simple question to people of India...
    1) Had KL Rahul decided on that day, that Let's not wait for the final 10 overs and let's start scoring quickly from 30 overs itself, and even though if in this process we get all out that's Ok.
How many Indians would have NOT CRITICIZED KL Rahul for that?
    2) Had Rohit Sharma decided that, with this total Australia will chase it down if they play 50 overs or so. So why not take a risk and let's try to win this game by using our best bowlers within 40 overs itself. And so in that process if the overs of our best bowlers gets exhausted on and before 40 overs, that too would be OK. How many Indians would have not criticized Rohit Sharma for this somewhat brave tectic?
The answer for both questions would be "zero" as everyone would have gone bonkers had Rohit Sharma done that (which they still are, but at that time things would have been more rampant).
And guess what, this unnecessary pressure is the reason for us to lose the final of U19 WC too as many here (including prominent sports journalists) have declared that U19 WC final as a payback game or something, and guess what our team which played like champion (in U19 WC) till final, succumbed against Aussies in final.😂😂
How many of you know, that when Pat Cummins and his team reached Australia after winning the WC, there were only a handful of people (including their family members) to receive them. Imagine the situation had India won the WC.

Brilliantly said. Gambhir in an interview actually highlighted your point #1 which shows the fearless mindset of that 2011 World Cup winning team. He said if KL and Virat took risks in the middle overs and worst case got out quickly for 190 in the process, Gambhir had a great point that it would have benefitted India because we would have had a longer time to bowl to the Australian batsmen on that same dry wicket, which meant dew would not play any factor for 20 overs (as opposed to where dew came in right after the 6th over when Aus were 47-3, due to India’s slow batting innings).

Brilliant comment. Loved to read it and also i had almost the same viewpoint . I think Indians are very conservative in risk taking. You cant make it big(in this case winning a world cup trophy)if you cant take those important calculated risks in life. Australians do it in sports,Americans do it in business. This T20 world cup squad of India also looks so safe

    • @squalidseal6126
      @squalidseal6126 7 місяців тому +3

As an Aussie, reading this, these are all great points. Especially about risk taking. Here, the riskier options are usually seen as the right one’s, besides utter absurdity which will certainly deny you of a match winner. Probably one of the things I notice the most is that with Cummins captaincy especially, when a bowler is getting smashed, he’ll often let them have one more over, and I can’t possibly count how many times I’ve seen it yield a wicket just by him taking a risk of trusting them. Obviously there’s been times it doesn’t work out too 😂. Plenty.

Everyone asks why is Australia such a good cricket team - cs they have the best bowlers, best batsmen, fielders, play as a team, don't give up and you never know when they're all going to click at once, and when that happens 99% of the time they're going to win. Its not rocket science.
Where you have to get Australia is when they're in a transition period like from 2009-2014, or when they lost confidence after losing to sa at home in 2016 and after sandpaper in 2018. Once they rebuild that team back up, they're unstoppable.
And after a long time they've now got a consistently brutal t20 team as well, there's no stopping them.

    Hi Pat,
Abhishek is a little kid he absolutely wanted your tips he will support Travis but still then I don't wanted to loose the match against KKR.Travis is a legend so don't want Travis to take the initiative but only he wanted to be behind Abhishek and he will get the goals in.so request you to control Travis, let Abhishek play's but Travis has to be silent as long Abhishek hits the ball hard and if unlucky Abhishek gets out then tell Travis to hold the equation.
