I think the airport should also incorporate Cargo hub, cargo port attached and a metro line or train hub for better connectivity, the build shape is cool it looks awesome
It would be cool to add in smaller islands surround the area, maybe some with very small developments, but maybe just nature. Something to add to the island chain vibe, make it feel more realistic to an island in the ocean
Don't know if you have an outside connection via road. But you can absolutely sustain an island without a hidden road connection. All you need is port infrastructure
Currently for you to drive between terminal to the surface parking area on the other side, u have to cross the bridge twice in order to make the turn could be a good idea to connect the two parts on the airport island
Now that's a cool airport. If I could make a suggestion: why don't you use the 4-lane compact industrial road for that bridge section? It look the same as the 2-lane one, with the truces, but it keeps the same amount of lanes throughout the entire bridge.
Because.... Because If I am not meant to break the airport, I have to make other weird choices I guess 😂😂😂😂 I will make sure to upgrade the road, thank you!
maybe the back story of this island is that the original builders settled the island, and got really good at building man made islands. so they first built barrier islands way around the city (this would require buying all tiles and building thin barrier islands all around the edge), and kept building man made islands for needs as they came up: First needed planes, then a university, then more housing, etc etc
Great series and airport build! Small suggestion on the big intersection leading to the airport - change higway roads to normal one-ways with sidewalks because it's more realistic to walk near the shops not crossing the road (peds they must cross the road multiple times just to get abord the corner). PS I feed that roundabout is a better solution considering the amount of traffic going from/to the airport and downtown but I love that current one is more "Florida" way to solve the traffic:)

For an island, a Causeway to the airport is more pleasing to the eyes. Also, the parking structure/hotel are blocking the views to Downtown from those terminals. Relocating them to the other side would have worked better...
Really really nice. But I would remove pedestrians over the bridge to the airport. It seems quite unrealistic in my opinion. Other than that: Amazing build as always.
Well, if you're gonna make everything a one-tile item, how about a one tile harbour? Part of the tile for commertial/tourism, other part for industriual/economic purpose?
If you feel like it, you could find one of the Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR) in the workshop to add to the airport island. Controllers use the radar to guide traffic in and out of the airport
City size seems ideal for a monorail in the densest hub. It also matches the tropical theme. Monorail's can be so expensive, but it feels like a monorail with a bus network is perfect for this island.
I would consider making a bus lane all the way out to the airport for express shuttles and maybe look down the road at a monorail or tram for public trasnsport. Metro seems a bit to large given the size of the city train as well but a monorail express and bus seems pretty possible and readinable to help with traffic for buisness flights or tourists. Still a cool build, just a suggestion on my part with regards to trasnport. Also a cargo airport might be amazing given the isolation of ourside connections. Maybe in thr future as welk but to keep in mind now?
This cool city REALLY needs a comprehensive bike network (including a dedicated bike path to the airport) Everything is so close together. Providing bicycle access would enable the people to go almost anywhere without car.
Heyo first time actually commenting on one of your videos. You've inspired me a lot with my own builds and I like to think I've grown a lot as a Cities player thanks to you! That being said, something I love to do in my builds is to incorporate a story. Why is my city where it is? Who lives there? Why do folks want to be here? Isla Soleada may have been started as a challenge but I think it still has potential to have its own story! Many small island cities and nations were originally developed as coaling/stopover stations for sailing ships and early steam ships. However, once that became redundant with better ship technology, many areas experienced a downturn in their economy. However with the modern tourism and cruise industry exploding, it's given a second wind to these island communities. Perhaps you could incorporate some of this history into Isla Soleada into one way or another. Most of the city is extremely beautiful and filled with what appears to be high income housing. However, perhaps when ships began coming more rarely for fuel, many were stricken by poverty, resulting in a lower income area. Perhaps not slums (as that's hard to do in vanilla) but low-income neighborhoods and tenement projects would be interesting to see, considering that it's otherwise a paradise. Further, if the original economy was based on shipping and not services (as evidenced by your tall skyline) and cruises (you already have the terminal!) then perhaps it would be worthwhile to invest in a container port project. Perhaps parts of it are run down/abandoned. This could tie in well to the previous idea of a low-income neighborhood. Maybe the hardest hit area was the area closest to the port as most of the workers for the port lived closest to it. With the economy booming in modern times, maybe gentrification is starting to make inroads and the government is making efforts to improve the area. While it may not be as glamorous as a beautiful airport or glimmering skyscrapers, I like to take the time to think about the history of where I'm building and try to showcase what happens (often unfortunately) like as in real life. Anyway, this turned into a lot longer of a comment than I originally meant to write. Thank you for your content and I can't wait to see your channel grow larger!
Just some recommendations from someone who knows a bit about airports. 1) Taxiways are typically connected to the start and end of the runway where the barcode looking lines are. 2) (This might be different for Cities Skylines, I don't own any dlc) Service cars use taxiways in order to move around, you can look at some pictures of airports and you'll see that there are road markings around terminals and service areas that simply use the taxiways as roads. A cool addition to the city nonetheless!
I normally don't really like airport builds in CS due to the game's limitations. But yours are always a ton of fun! 😉 Enjoy the rest of the weekend, Infra!
If i were a piolt landing on that runwsy would be terrifyinh that close to the seawall. The planes wing almost hangs over the seawall going doen the runway 😆. I see what you are going for and it looks nice, i just feel it might be a bit tight.
If you’re going to expand and add some more islands, it would be cool to take some inspiration and ideas from the Marshal Islands in the Pacific. Check out Amata Kabua International Airport, which services the town of Majuro on one island. There’s also Bucholz Army Airbase on Kwajalein Atoll. This entire atoll is a military base. And then there’s the island of Ebeye, where the civilian population associated with the military base lives.
Watching second half of the video makes me always wanna give more room to think about the design first. Unless there's pre planning work done. Nevertheless, nice job
I don’t know if you know what I mean but how did you make your tree and overall vegetation textures look so sharp? Is it just because your playing on a higher resolution or is the map theme doing that?
Little late to this but how are you able to get people/cars on an island city? People can arrive by airplane or boat but I’m not sure about how to get cars on
Hot mess! I liked the original island build; but this was too much for me. You put a road underwater to solve an intersections that didn't need to be an intersection as it already was one . . . Argh! You're very good ; but very bad, too. Awesome detail work, though.

The runway should be 2500-3000 meters long. The main Maldives airport is 3400m long and it looks as ridiculously huge as you would expect.

Could add another smaller island for tourists. So it would have things to do and then one or two resorts like Miami beach
I would like to see a small extra island for luxury super yachts with links to the mainland but all private gated.
if the connections allow add a cruise ship terminal to your airport island.
