Andrea disappointed me in this episode so much. Not only does she have horrible taste in men, but she knows Rick and all of the prison group have no reason to lie to her yet she goes back to Woodbury and tells the Govenor more than she should. She doesn't call him out on his actions, knowing he's lying. And she accused Michonne of bad mouthing her when Michonne has been loyal to her. The Govenor made her walk to the prison without protection. Rick, having limited resources, gave her food, a weapon and a car for her to get back to Woodbury and Andrea fails to see what should be painfully obvious in that moment. She's 100% sure the Govenor is capable of some pretty horrendous things and she does nothing to actually help. She's in a tough spot of her own making at this point.

She only sided with Dale in se2 ep 11 because she had loyalty to him) in season 2, but the second it was somebody ANDREA didn't want to kill, suddenly she had a moral compass...

Blame the writers who gave her a story that would have fit better with Carol. Not that I want this for her either but it makes more sense when you realize that’s what they had intended originally

@@nerdterritory1997 Nah lol, thats just completely wrong. Michonne tried to convince her but Andrea was not having it and stayed. Michonne couldn't do much there.
I loved how Andrea was saying to Carol that Rick had "gone cold" in hopes that Carol would be the sweet, supportive mother of the group. Instead, Carol told Andrea what she should do and that moment made Andrea realize just how much everyone at the prison has changed (how they had to change to survive).

Not true. I’m sure she thought about doing it every night but never found the strength. And she could have just left but in the real world she let herself be stuck. So stuck that even when everything stopped the beatings still didn’t. Carol Now (S3 Carol) says the things she thought all the time. She never changed just became who she always was inside. Stopped wearing a mask and lying about it to people (except when useful)
The actress that played Andrea said that the reason why she didn't kill The governor is because Andrea has never killed a human being. She's a not a killer. Shes a zombie killer. Nothing more..
I've tried weighing out the pros and cons of Andrea but all I got is, she shot Daryl, tried to get Beth to kill herself, betrayed Michonne, and slept with the enemy. She did 3 of my fave characters wrong and she actually thinks the Governor is a good guy? Sooooo yeah. I don't like her so much at this point lol. She's worse than ghost Lori.

One of the biggest criticisms I see of the show is these slower character driven episodes. Personally I believe they're necessary because they make the conflicts impactful. Occasionally they go a little too far and border on being boring, but typically there's a point behind all of it. Try to remember this is a long running series and every piece of character development adds to their overall arc. In the end, I believe you'll appreciate the show on a whole....sometimes because of these slower episodes, sometimes in spite of them.

Agreed. First, the story won't be realistic or move forward if every episode is some action packed confrontation with someone. Those shows are the unrealistic ones, the superhero shows, and although there's a time and place for that kind of entertainment, I fell in love with TWD because it was realistic, which means sometimes there's nothing going on, or sometimes, the conflict is internal. Adversely, shows which are always character driven internal/emotional conflict shows are dramas like House or something (just for example). TWD is a happy medium.

I don't mind this episode, it's not my favorite but it still had great moments. I love when Michonne told Andrea that she chose a warm bed over friendship because that's completely true. I get that Andrea was tired of running but she and Michonne had been together for several months. There had to be a great deal of trust between them before Woodbury yet Andrea chose to believe the Governor over her friend.
Andrea was sooooooo arrogant in this episode. When she said to Michonne "i'm there because those people need me" i was like:
Uugh.......................these people at the prison were your FAMILY Andrea !!.
Also, people started hating Andrea after this episode.
She basically knows who the Governor is after this episode and she still can't stab the guy in his sleep !?.
Look at it from her prospective. She got left. And her "family" definitely changed since the last time she'd seen them. She'd began to settle in Woodbury, who is full of innocent people in this feud...

First: She got left by ACCIDENT.
Second: Just because your family changed doesn't mean you shouldn't have their backs.
Third: If you live in a town where people live that are blind to the truth or just play ignorent because they are happy there, doesn't mean you should do the same when you KNOW something is very wrong.
Fourth: Maybe Rick's group accidentally left her and thought she was dead. Michonne was her NEW FAMILY and Andrea pretty much betrayed her as well.
So how were the fans supposed to look at things from her perspective exactly ???
@@schlock159 This is all very simple and it's surprising how you don't see it. Andrea is trying to save both sides. She's clearly in love with the Govenor and thinks she can save him and she also has history with everyone from the prison. Her perspective? Pretend having to kill someone you're close to just because they're bad blood to other people you're close to. There's a giant burden in that task for the fact of "what comes after."

Let me answer that with a remark:
The Governor hurt the group (Maggie & Glenn), he tried to kill people (Michonne & Daryl), he attacked the prison and he actually killed someone (Axel and the battle in this episode).

Hell she probably been away from longer than she was with them. They've changed drastically since the last time she'd seen them. They've hardened and come across more primal than before. Seemingly lacking humanity since the. Also you have to consider the lies that They left her and didn't go back. It may not have been intentional but it happened. Even Merle picked up on it and her unconvincing hope that they went back for her. She knew they didn't. I didn't say they left her in purpose, but they didn't come back for her...
And of course it'd be hard for these towns people to see the truth. Their perception of raity is warped becaus they ha en't lived in it. The Governor is a conniving guy. He's plays the role of a politician to a T with his ability to be persuasive? Why wouldn't they take his word for it? Andrea fell for it because was able to present lie after in a convincingly consistent matter and because why wouldn't she? It's not like Michonne was forthcoming with information. Now she's asserted herself as a leadership role to these people to protect them because because despite being under The Governor's rule, they ARE innocent people. She's supposed to abandon them instead of preventing everyone charging into war that leaves innocent people dead? Her whole point is to STOP the war. So again, look from her perspective and not just yours...

I'm not so sure Hershel is /pissed/ but more realizing he has to be stern and can't keep being gentle and kind with Rick. Plus I think he knows Rick will actually listen to him and take him seriously if he reacts with his voice raised. If say Glenn or Daryl reacted with their voices raised, Rick might take it a little less seriously than if it was Hershel. Hershel was willing to give Rick his chances to step back up, but since he keeps reverting to that kind of insanity he knows he can't keep giving him gentle chances.
That scene with Carl basically telling Rick to step down is one of my favorite Carl scenes. I love seeing how much wiser he's grown since the farm and how he speaks his thoughts so calmly now. He used to be more emotional about saying what he thought and I think the change with him being so calm about this was really impactful.
"Where's Shane?" I mean, did you really think him and Rick were gonna last around each other for eight more months? LOL
I can't really blame Andrea for not killing him in his sleep. I think for most people, at least at this stage in an apocalypse (like if it was say five years in I might feel differently), it would still be hard to do that in general - forget the fact that it's someone she's familiar with on some level. I don't think it's been long enough for people's humanity to be that far gone where they could kill someone they knew in their sleep. Maybe if he was a total stranger it would be a different too, but she's spent time with him and I think that would be difficult to do. Philip is also really good at manipulation and knows how to charm people, so it's not like he's just a blatantly heartless killer or someone you would kill on sheer reaction if that makes sense. She DID see him the night he clung to Penny's body sobbing over her. That's a humane thing to see versus if she was dealing with some serial killer or something, so I can see why she would hesitate.
Also Steve, don't worry about honesty. You're going to find episodes you aren't fond of in a series that's currently nine seasons and ongoing, you know? A lot of people have plenty of episodes they weren't happy with and a lot of people didn't even really like season two. You guys have lasted a lot longer than I'd say a LOT of people with finding all the episodes so far to be really good. It's all opinion and tbh I always trust that if you guys liked parts of episodes you didn't like overall that you'd be willing to talk about those things and admit what you did like. Sometimes you reach those episodes you just gotta power through! No harm done!

In season 2, Andrea always felt like the odd man out. Now she is being the middle man for 2 groups that wanna kill each other
If you think back about Andrea, she always thought she was a badass, but wasn't. Didnt listen to Dale about not shooting, and she shot Daryl...was screwing around with Shane, even took interest in Daryl..anyone she thought could be a leader. Her disloyalty to Michonne, and now all her old friends. She knew exactly what the Gov was..insane, but chose him anyway. Carol was right, and Andrea had her chance. I figure she believed the Gov would win the battle, and she wanted to be on the winning side, bottom line.
no you're completely wrong... andrea just felt she could save both groups she just wanted everyone to be in harmony but for some reason she couldn't bring herself to kill the governor plus the guy who chose this storyline for andrea was just a mess of a writer

Yeah season 3 was my least favorite season until season 8 in large part because of Andrea and her stupidity
I’m here💃🏽 Steve you’ll appreciate this episode soon enough ( it’s actually one of the most important episodes) . I suggest at some point you rewatch it. It wasn’t just about Andrea, it was also about Tyrese’s group, the conversation between Carol and Andrea was more than about she telling Andrea to kill the governor, the Tom Waits song Beth was singing ( I once told you that whenever there’s a song it’s meaningful). This episode is one that I’ve rewatched several times as dialogue heavy episodes are important and this show isn’t a dialogue heavy show.🧟♀️

I agree with many of You......this wasn't one of my favorite episodes for sure. I have never been a fan of Andrea. From the CDC onward she just irritated me. Especially once she started bitching about her gun and once they got to the farm her arrogance ( that's how I saw it ) that she was too good to help with "the women's work". She considered herself a great shot, then fine. Take a few shifts on top of the RV but she still could have helped with other things. Plus when she shot Daryl, that was just her trying to show off and she refused to listen to everyone telling her not to shoot. The way she blindly took Shane's side over Rick. And of course 0nce she and Michonne got to Woodbury she chose the governor over Michonne. I know she didn't see what the viewers could see about the governor , but neither could Michonne yet Michonne still felt that it was bad and told Andrea that. She also went straight back to Phillip from the prison and blabbed everything she could about how they were broken, living in horrible conditions etc. She shouldn't have been telling him anything. As you can see, I am just not a fan of Andrea and never have been. Even now, her arrogance to think that she can fix this. She now knows that the governor has lied to her multiple times but she still thinks she can sway him to make peace. Ugh. lol. Who knows. Maybe she will help, but she frustrates the crap out of me. One thing I did like about this episode was Hershel and Merle talking and how Merle finishes the Bible verse that Hershel had started. It kind of humanized Merle a little more in my opinion. Of course I have always had a part of me that likes Merle and cares about him, even though I shouldn't lol. He just grew on me really fast and I just like him, I can't help it 😊

Nice summary of why Andrea deserves and earned the bad rap.
Love honesty and yes there are some episodes that are slower than others but every episode adds to the overall story arc. Andrea seems wishy washy this season. Like Michonne said she traded her friends for a warm bed. With all of the evidence about the Governor why she stays with him is beyond me!

I love how this show creates a very subtle action and consequences over a period of time
One of the few things I like about Meryl is that he speaks the truth - no holds bar. Like it or not, he's going to tell it like it is (or at least how HE sees it). It's the thing that I believe he & Daryl have in common - "don't bs me, and I won't bs you."
Hershel wants Rick to step up, and Carl want's Rick to step down. Oh, what a quandary. As if the man isn't messed up already.

I feel you Steve, but this is the nature of the show..Not every episode is great, anymore than every day sunny, but if every episode is pedal to the metal, critics say there's no substance, and these episodes are labeled dull, so they're damned either way. Personally I get something from each episode, just know if you stay the course there will be a few like this..But it's always building to something.

I think a lot of people forget that she was gonna leave until he told her how much Woodbury needs her. I know Andrea messes up in this episode but it’s hard to fully blame her for it. Remember what the Governor said about Woodbury needing Andrea? The reason that particular manipulation tactic worked is because it’s pretty obviously TRUE. She knows that Woodbury needs her, she knows the Governor isn’t a stable leader, so she stays for Woodbury and as a result, stays with the Governor bc those types of people are excellent at manipulating you to stay, especially if you already have to interact with them. If she has to be around him anyway while she’s helping Woodbury, there’s no way he won’t convince her to stay by his side. He’s too good at it.
Andrea really doesn’t have a way out at this point without abandoning all those people, and she can’t do that. So despite everything, she sticks around and tries for the best.
The thing that fascinates me about Andrea so much is that she can never sync her attitude up with what’s best for the group. In season 2 she was suicidal and depressed, completely losing hope while the rest of the group tried to convince her everything was going to be okay. Now, she’s holding onto hope for the Governor even though there isn’t any. It’s such an interesting change.
Obviously she made some pretty big mistakes in this episode but I still adore her as a character, she’s so damn interesting.

Not one of my favorites in season 3 either, however I do LOVE seeing Hershel talking to Rick the way he did, that was a really good acting scene and one of my favorite moments from Hershel.

Ok finally it’s time for me to say what I analyze about Andrea’s role in this season.
At first on Woodbury she’s ok with the place she never see anything that would make her worry Michonne never gives a real reason for her to risk her safety on the outside again So she stays she thinks the Governor is a good person and she’s interacting and seeing that there are good people living in the town.
Then we have the Governor manipulating the narrative to create conflict between the two groups he never tells Andrea about Glenn and Maggie and he never says the people from the prison are Andrea’s old group to her so she’s eager to help Woodbury against the so called awful prisoners enemies.
She even comes to his rescue on his house on 3x08 when Michonne’s about to finish the job because she still don’t know what we as the audience knows that the Governor is a piece of shit At that point she still thinks Phillip is a good man (and tbh us in her place feeling safe in a safe place and seeing his whole nice facade through HER eyes would probably have the same line of thinking as her) It’s only when Michonne leaves the room that she sees the whole walker heads on fish tanks and she sees the Governor holding his dead daughter that she finally comes to clues that this man is not so good on the head.
She learns the enemies were her friends and the Governor is clearly lying about a lot of things and it’s not what she thought he was She finally has all the facts laid out to her in this episode learning of him kidnapping Glenn and Maggie sending Merle to kill Michonne (and if Andrea were to go with Michonne she would too be in his aim) attacking the prison and instigating a war.
Now you see she won’t completely side with either side because both sides have good people and to have casualties on an unnecessary war is stupid So she won’t just go back to the prison and leave Woodbury solely at the hands of his psycho ass She showed true leader spirit on 3x09 spiring people and keeping them calm when he was too damaged to do anything she needs to be there to try and keep things on a calmer tone.
When she’s on the last scene after giving him the best sleep of his life you see she was thinking of going through with Carol’s plan she has no real feelings for him anymore she’s not still falling for a bad guy even after learning of his awful way of doing things she was going through with it BUT you see to kill someone in cold blood in their sleep is somethings that is not on her blood yet I believe Dale’s words were totally resonating on her about there’s no more civilization on the world but we can’t afford to lose our humanity So she’s unable to do it.
I do get people mad that she didn’t go with Michonne and that people are eager to see her with the group again as soon as possible but I do believe people have a very one sided way of thinking on this whole dilemma and with this they just call Andrea a stupid character that sides with the villain just because he has a penis when things are really not like that The hate towards her feels very exaggerated to me and just like with Lori I’ll be on their defence squad everytime.
This was definitely a slow episode. It also featured everyone's "favorite", Andrea. So yeah, this one is in no one's top ten TWD episodes. It does however have one of the more awesome Herschel lines. Your reactions when he uttered it, were fantastic. THIS is why Herschel is so revered by the fans. Scenes like that. Rick's been dowsed by ice water from both Carl and Herschel. We shall see if this affects ol' ghost-seeing Rick. So Tyreese and Co. are at Woodbury. Now each side has a mole of sorts. Merle and Tyreese and Co.
Not much to add, and really no questions. This was a plugging holes, and very heavy, expository episode. They aren't all gonna be amazing. But have no fear, you can always just watch another. I hope your head feels better Steve. Until next time, keep on keeping on.

This wasn't my favorite episode to, but it is setting things up so get the seatbelt on. Andrea had the perfect chance, but who knows, he could have woken up and decided to kill her as well. You will come across slow episodes through out the series because of character development and to set things up. I only found 2 episodes out of 9 seasons that I found boring. This isn't one of them.

I disagree tbh do you really believe that killing the governor would have ended it? He still has an entire town full of people who see him as their leader....their leader killed in his sleep by an ex member of Rick's group would have only cemented the feud I hate how bad a rap Andrea receives she just wants to save everyone and I see that as something very admirable meanwhile Rick and crew treated her so so terribly when she arrive like Andrea almost died protecting Carol and all they did was treat her like a criminal and as far as the michonne thing goes she didn't give andrea much to go on before leaving and Michonne CHOSE to leave even when she knew Andrea was going to stay that goes both ways I love them all though Andrea is definetly in the right on this she wants to find a way to save both sides and Rick and the Governor only want to kill the other side neither thinking about the innocents caught in the middle

The only thing this episode did is establish that Tyreese and his group are part of his town. Andrea once again accomplishes nothing unless you count sleeping with the Governor again.

Well Steve, please don't hold back. Tell us what you really think about the episode!! Lol. Lacey, What Do you think? This was an Andrea centric episode, and I don't dislike it per se, but it did lack in the elements that I enjoy most. Still, it was necessary for the story. I really hated the Gov, and thought that my beloved peeps living in a dark, not so safe prison was kind of a drag on my experience, so this whole time frame isn't easy for me to watch again. But you know, the worst day of TWD IS better than the best day at um... other stuff and thangs.
I love Carol.

Merle talked a lot of shit. Yet he was the one who started all of this when he took Glenn and Maggie. If he knew so much about the Governor. Why would he have brought them there anyway? Knowing what he would do to them. He knew the Governor would kill his brother. So Glenn was actually right about him.
Oh Rick. He does need to go on a break. Get himself mentally stable before he does something that could cost him someone's life. And Hershel scolding Rick like a child.... man, I felt that. I was like, "Oh shit. Now you've gone and pissed daddy off" LOL. Andrea is the biggest eye roll. She's so indecisive and I understand her but at the same time, truths are being shoved in her face and she ain't waking up. She wants everyone to be okay with each other and live at peace but girl, blood was spilled, people were tortured, sexually assaulted and people were murdered in the process by your pervy boyfriend. No Andrea. It's not gonna be what you want. Your creepy, disgusting boyfriend is a lying murderer. Michonne was right, she chose a warm bed over her friends. Oh Andrea. This chick was so close to killing the Governor and she backed off the last minute. But hey look at my girl Carol. Suggesting to kill him in his sleep. I bet she thought of doing the same thing to her abusive husband, Ed. I didn't think this episode was slow at all. It was showing you everyone's game plan. What they were thinking of doing next. How other players, like Tyreese's group, are gonna be an influence to the Governor now that he's gonna know where everything is at inside the prison. It's like the calm before the storm. It's only a matter of WHEN the Governor will attack. Rick and everyone else aren't even close to being prepared for any war. I don't think they sufficient ammunitions. They were nearly taken down last time. Now you just have to wait and see how it's all gonna play out.

I'd prefer the prison for a sense of major security. But the farm obviously for comfort, normalcy and growth.

Im with Steve. This is not one of my favs. Sometimes skip this one when rewatching the series. But info is important. To get in the heads of the characters. And how they are towards each other. Carl is growing up.

I enjoyed the episode. This episode was slower. But it can't all be action. Building plots, adding story is a good thing. There is lots of ways to take Andrea in this episode. I understand most of it is negative from most people. But I take it as she really is trying to be the hero, and stop the perceived upcoming war. I thought this episode had several high points. As far is the next episode being really good? Personally, it's in my top ten of ALL TIME of this show, still this day. After you guys post the video, I'll get into my reasons why. :)
Yeah, I want your honesty, but I hope you don't quit watching when you hit rough patches. The show has them, but they always bounce back. However, I didn't think this was a bad or underwhelming episode. Seemed important for set-up. My least favorite parts will be coming later. We also already passed up where I thought there was a lull in the latter half of season 2. I also didn't care for the Vatos story in season 1 or the CDC thing either. This show isn't about the sickness, but what's around it. The sickness/zombie outbreak is just a MacGuffin, and I felt like the CDC bit just made people want to question the science fiction of it all.
Herschel put his foot down on Rick avoiding responsibility and he only got one now so it’s kind of a big deal 😆

First of, I love the The Walking Dead & the fandom, but the hate against Andrea is fucking unfair & out of order. Most of the people at Woodbury is innocent & don't deserve to die in the crosfire. Also, Andrea should have killed The governor in his sleep ? First of, how much of story would it honestly be if it just ended like that ? Second; killing someone, a human being Isn't a easy thing to do, so I wish people would stop with the tough guy act. It's very easy to just sit & be annoyed at Andrea but if a zombie apocalypse were to happen, I think a lot people would realise that they aren't as tough as they like to think 🤷
In this episode, when I first watched it, I thought Andrea was a selfless Bitch (sorry for that cuss word) and she betrayed those who cared for her. Yes, she did shot Daryl (almost killing him), Made beth decided to live or die (Beth lived), screwed around with Shane, Not listen to Dale, Disloyal to Michonne, than disloyal to her old group, Slept with the gov, and she did all that because of her blindless love for the gov. She has all this con to her that people can hate on her, But still love the actress for best acting in this show.

Andrea went from a character I tolerated even as far as liked but her stupid mistakes this season just kept piling on this season and made me hate her.
Steve you should let 1 or 2 episodes be ok even if they feel slow, you've just had like 4-5 mid-season finales it felt like, i like the honesty though.
