My favorite detail is how Mabel didn’t trust Stan until he said “please”. I’d like to think she trusted him because she knew from the episode s1e13 boss Mabel that Stan has trouble saying the word

I'd like to add that the licence plate on Stan's car says "STNLYMOBILE".
throughout the show there were multiple hints that stan had a secret brother:
in “the legend of the gobblewonker” stan’s boat was called the “stan o’ war”, which is the same name of the boat that he and ford wanted to sail around the world in when they were kids.
the license plate on stan’s car is STNLYMBL, and fans for the longest time used that as a possible hint that there might be a second stan.
in “the time traveler’s pig” when dipper and mabel go back in time to a younger stan, the person who came out of the shack was actually stanford since stanley doesn’t have a cleft chin but stanford does.
in “carpet diem” the secret room that the twins fight over was actually ford’s old room, and the glasses that stan picked up and held onto was ford’s glasses as well.
in “dreamscaperers” when gideon tells bill to invade stan pines’ mind and bill stops to think he’s actually trying to remember which stan he’s talking about because there are two stans! and the visions that appears on bill’s body when that happens is the fight between stan and ford that led to ford being stuck in the portal. and also when stan was telling soos about why he’s hard on dipper so much and it panned to a door with a boxing memory one of the kids in the background who was reading was actually ford! and also the broken swing set in stan’s mind scape was the same one that him and ford were swinging on in the end credits of “not what he seems” and one of the swings being broken was symbolism of the broken relationship between him and ford.
in “scary-oke” stan puts on a six-fingered glove before activating the portal, which led many fans to speculate on how he got a six-fingered glove to begin with.
in “into the bunker” the shapeshifter said that the author was a “six-fingered nerd”, which revealed that the author had six fingers.
and in “not what he seems” stan said that it was unnatural for siblings to get along this much, which is a nod to his own relationship with his twin brother.
i probably forgot some things in this but it’s so cool how this was planned out from the start and it coming to fruition in such an amazing way!
The glasses one really hits hard. But I love rewatching it and seeing the hints the second time round. As everyone is fighting, they show a clip of Stan just holding the glasses, looking sad.
You forgot about Stan’s reaction to Wax Stan dying in Headhunters. After watching Not What He Seems it’s obvious is “over the top” reaction (up to and including holding a funeral) was him projecting his fear about Ford possibly being dead on the other side 😢
its actually amazing how many details there are before the reveal is done and yet it still manages to be an incredible and surprising plot twist. god i love gravity falls
Dipcifica is easily the best ship of the series that we never knew we wanted until we got it.
BTW, the bell Pacifica's parents were using on her is a form of child abuse meant to control and condition children into compliance.

Ladies and gents, we have arrived. To this very day, I _still_ get chills when I watch the ending of "Not What He Seems" and Ford steps out of the portal.
Irl journal number 3 hints at dipper liking Pacifica and I believe it also hints that mabel supports dipcifica(the ship name). And honestly, Pacifica Pines sounds right, doesn't it?

30:00 Stan's comment about Ford hoarding his college money isn't Stan saying that he thinks Ford should share his college money with him (Stan), he was pointing out the hypocrisy of how their parents disowned Stan for putting Ford's future in jeopardy, specifically because their parents were betting on Ford getting rich and giving THEM his money. Presumably Ford has not been disowned despite not sharing his college money with the family (otherwise Stan wouldn't be bringing it up), yet Stan was still not welcome in the family until he made money and shared that wealth with their parents (hence why Stan has been so obsessed with making money throughout the course of the series - it was the only way to win back his family's love). He wasn't saying that he wanted Ford to share his money, he was pointing out that the family was unfairly holding a grudge against him, and not holding Ford to the same standard (e.g. he didn't have to give them his money to buy their love like Stan is). Not that they weren't right to be upset with Stan for his mistake when it happened, but it had been 10 years at that point, and they still weren't accepting Stan back.
Grunkle Stan is their great uncle. So the uncle of one of their parents and sibling of one of their grandparents. Like how Grunkle Stan told Ford “their Shermie’s grandkids”

While Stan definitely messed up Ford also made everything worse with his arrogance, especially the university thing. You even talked about reapplying and to me, the fact that Ford ended up going to Backupsmore says he didn't even try. There are levels between the best university and the worst even if he couldn't get into his dream school, they say he's a genius, he could have still gotten into a good one. I think he probably didn't apply thinking he would get into that dream school then when he got rejected Backupsmore was the only one taking late applicants.
To me, the parents of Stan and Ford get way too little flack. In my opinion, they are the main reason for the brothers' estranged relationship by kicking out and cutting off Stan. What kind of parent would do that to their child over a (terrible) mistake their child makes? Even if Stan has made mistakes that have had terrible consequences, I can't imagine the pain of having your parents unnecessarily choose your twin over you, while your twin watches and does nothing about it. My heart aches for Stan every time I watch that part of the episode.
Fun detail! When Bill possesses someone, their pupils become elongated, like a cat's. When Stan enters the shack, Ford IMMEDIATELY checks his eyes. When he said "I just had to make sure you weren't...", he was gonna say "make sure you weren't _possessed_ "
Northwest Mansion Mystery is my favorite gravity falls episode. Dipcifica was my favorite ship until Lumity took their spot. The reveal of Ford is one of the most awesome character reveals ever

Absolute peak television from all 3 of these episodes. I get so much joy out of seeing reactions to these 3, especially the author reveal. There was a more than 4 month gap between Not What He Seems and A Tale Of Two Stans, 12 year old me was googling new episode news every single day lol
Ah the Dipper/Pacifica episode is a lot of fun and honestly, I think the lumberjack is one of the darkest plots this show has. It's so grungy for lack of a better term. The axe thru the skull is so brutal, surprised they got that thru censors. As far as the ship is concerned it kinda reminds me of Willow and Hunter from TOH. Not like in personality, just that it's a late-game pair no one would have ever expected until they interacted.

Yea facts, Mabel barely thinks logically & lets her emotions gets the best of her which costs her a lot. I’m not saying Dipper is perfect. But Mabel has way more flaws.

She literally caused the apocalypse because she wanted to have more summer vacation. She could not deal with the idea that dipper could have his own choices and stay in gravity falls. My siblings all left me eventually and did i cry about it? No, no i didn't. I wonder how she's gonna defend that.
Ok I’m new to this reactor, but are we watching the same show? Dippers been riding for Mabel since episode 1. Literally that was him trying to keep her safe from a shady dude, then rescuing her from a horde of Gnomes. As you all have said, he isn’t perfect(time travelers pig stands out to me) but he’s not honestly that bad.
Episode 10 was made after the finale, so nothing came from the Dipper x Pacifica tease and it doesn't really go anywhere in the show proper, but there's a book of several mini-stories that came out after the show and in one of then it's hinted that Pacifica has a crush on Dipper.

21:10 a key moment in this scene is when grunkle stan says please, i feel that that was the moment trusted him because we see in a past episode that he never saxs please, and him saying it at that moment made her realize he was telling the truth
I remember first seeing Stanford walk through the portal and thinking that might a future Dipper who left his books in the past somehow.

Fun fact: The lumberjack ghosts backstory likely also explains why there were so many dead bodies ready to be turned into zombies in Scary-oke. You saw all those lumberjacks that walked away before the lumberjack ghosts got swept up by the mudslides. They likely got caught too and washed down to where the Mystery Shack would be eventually build.

When Bill takes Dipper's Boddy we watch a little recap of ALL the times dipper has given everything he worked for just to satisfy Mabel! Even when both know that a boyfriend is way less important that's the mystery of the town!

Like a magic mind control bell is probably just about the _least_ upsetting possibility. Unfortunately it looks less like mind control and more like pavlovian conditioning, but that begs the question of _what stimulus did they pair the bell with to make pacifica react like that_

I trusted stan from the moment I saw the picture of the kids in his private workspace. A public one wouldn't have meant much, but somewhere where nobody else would have ever seen it means that he truly cared for them.

AAAAA it finally came!! I still can’t not get goosebumps when when the kids figure out Stan isn’t EXACTLY Stan, gosh this show does mystery and plot twist so well! And props to everyone talking about all the hints that were in the show the whole time cause there were a TON.
One thing I really enjoyed realizing about Stan though, is how he treats Mabel and Dipper! Mabel is a lot like how Stan was when he was a kid, weird quirky creative and not super smart. But no matter what she’s doing he supports her and encourages her passion through and through! He just rolls with her weirdness, something I bet his mom did with him alot. And dipper is so much like Stanford that being there for him about Robby, trying to protect him from seeing too much, and encouraging Dipper to be his own person are all close to what he’d do for Stanford (like dumping punch on himself so ford wouldn’t feel left out). I also feel like alot of how he treats dipper is what he wishes his father was like towards them when they were young. As mentioned in the flashback their dad was pretty stoic and didn’t show much support. Which is why it’s so heartwarming to see Stan make the effort to tell the kids hes proud, even if it’s in his own gruff way. Like in the manotaur episode where even though Stan made fun of dipper for the things he liked doing he still made sure to tell Dipper he was a man for sticking to what he enjoyed! Just,,, GOSH I LOVE STAN OKAY
Idk if anyone else has pointed this out, but when Stan is getting kicked out and his mother appears holding a baby, it’s quite likely that that baby is Dipper and Mabel’s father. Because at that point it’s somewhere in the 1970s, so the baby couldn’t be Shirmey (Dip and Mabel’s grandpa) because he’d only be in his fifties by the time the show takes place. So yeh, Shirmey is probably a fair bit older than the Stans and that baby is actually his son, Dipper and Mabel’s father

The story of both stans is one ive always thought was really depressing. In saying that, i dont think that stanley really ruined fords life when he destroyed the science project. Ford still got to go to college, got his phds, built his own home, and recieved grants to study a field that he likely never would have or could have had he gone to the original college. Meanwhile stanley was homeless without a high school diploma and had no real way to make a living beyond crime, so it really doesnt suprise me that he ended up a criminal. Ford is also shown to be not great with people and very egotistical like a lot of geniuses, so it also does not suprise me the twins ended up fighting when they met again. Id also say that falling into the portal was caused by stanley, and ford really wasnt in the best mental place when they met, its still partially his fault for causing the fight and for leaving the portal basically on when stan came down anyway
So far I've watched two people react to this series, the first one always said that "Its always all about Mabel, Mabel for once just do something for your brother" and you're the opposite XD I love this lol watching your reaction is great...even better knowing that I watched you back in your Minecraft days, I watched you transform this channel and you've done so much, I love the changes, I love your content and I still love your personality ^-^ I don't usually comment on stuff sorry lol, I'm a bit socially awkward and commenting scares me...but I just wanted to say this. 5:17 Fun Fact: One outlier in that group of people is a college basketball player, I say this because, at the time season 2 came out, college athletes weren't able to profit off of their name, image, and likeness. Maybe he got there because he got invited by the guy who secretly got him paid and who is connected to the Pacifica family. Or maybe he was born rich or something.
