- "Don't Shed a Tear" is a song by English singer-musician, Paul Carrack, from his third solo album, One Good Reason. It was released as a single in 1987 and became his biggest U.S. hit, peaking at number nine on the pop chart.
"Don't Shed a Tear" entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 72 in November 1987. It peaked at number nine in February 1988, becoming Carrack's biggest U.S. hit as a solo artist. It spent 23 weeks on the Hot 100, including thirteen weeks inside the top 40 section of the chart. It also reached number five on the Album Rock Tracks chart, and number six on the Singles Sales chart.
Elsewhere, the song peaked at number 20 in the Netherlands, but was not as successful in the UK, reaching number 60 in March 1989. Mike DeGagne of Allmusic called "Don't Shed a Tear" a highlight of the One Good Reason album, and said the song is "bolstered by its subtle, laid-back groove with a start-and-stop tempo."
Great break up song 🎵 👌🏾 🙌🏾 👏🏾 👍🏾 🙂
Paul Carrack along with Mike and the Mechanics is a wonderful musician. One of his best songs that he made is "Don't shed a tear" and it is one of my favorites. Great job.
Because Mike Rutherford couldn't sing so he hired Paul Carrack to do the singing.
awesome song, i love 80's music, it's awesome! i have an mp3 player with all 80's music, close to 100 80's tunes, more to come soon including this song, fuck the new shit, 80's ftw!!! i was born in 1991 and i'm stuck in the 80's!!!!!!
I Was Born in 1991 Too.
I didn't hear this song until 1992 and I would listen to the radio a lot in the 80's. Maybe I couldn't remember it at the time and it stuck when I heard it later.
"All that I saw in you, now I see through" boy does that sum up how I feel about someone right now
Paul Carrack, formerly of Squeeze and Mike & The Mechanics, has one of those distinctive voices that you never forget from the 80's.
Carrack at his finest doing the solo thing.
OMG!!! THIS IS MY SONG!!!!!

Between 1975 and 1996 as a solo artist, and with Ace, Squeeze and Mike & The Mechanics, Paul Carrack had 16 US top 40 hits altogether.
The ultimate "fuck off" song to someone who's wronged you. It never gets old and it never runs out of needing to be used.
I love this song!!!
Such a great musician.
