  • This is our final installment for the HeadGames B58 road to CNC! HeadGames' B58 CNC program is going to be a game-changer for the BMW world. It not only went through many hours of R&D to optimize the port but also HeadGames worked closely with GSC Power Division to ensure that the valve train is made to take a beating, and it is backed up by rigorous testing. The valves are made from high-grade material and the valve spring has more pressure than any other spring kit currently on the market! This allows drivers to push their engines to the limit without fear of failure. AND add airflow! Check out the series for the full story!

    That gain from just changing the valves is mind-blowing

      Typical on a few platforms and not just a GSC valve. But, some aftermarket valves hurt flow.

    I'm rather surprised that you guys left the quench stock. Given this is a mid/high boost engine I was really expecting to see the quench tapered back to 1 or 2 hundredths from the cylinder wall. To be fair I haven't gotten my hands on a B58 yet. So, I don't know how active the quench is on these engines. But generally speaking, on Mid/Highly boosted engines I've found (wedge heads or otherwise) de-energizing the quench has significantly reduced octane requirements for any given power output. Now NA applications are completely opposite.

      PS. Great job on the chamber. Looking at all of the sharp edges on a stock one makes my head hurt LOL

      @headgames  8 місяців тому

      Hey man! I don't like to slow the chamber down and remove a lot of quench. It is there for good reason. Good fuel is not hard to get here.

    Hi Dave. Very good numbers, I congratulate you for the work.
    One question, what is the diameter of the intake and exhaust valves?
    Greetings from Spain

      hey buddy! Greetings from the USA! 30.10mm intake 28.5mm exhaust

      @@headgames Uoooohhh, the flow it has is impressive.
      This engine has a true 82mm cylinder, which is why the valves have that smaller diameter.
      Regards and thank you.

      @@headgames OK OK, I was confused, the B58 is the one with 82mm and the S58 is 84mm, am I right Dave?
      It is impressive that with such small valves it has so many CFM

    Admiring of what you do and have a friendly suggestion for a series of videos for newbies like me. Now that we know apparent gains of porting and heads upgrade. Would be nice to be explained possible routes that are necessary along with a heads upgrade (fuel system possible routes, cylinder, comp. ratio, naturally aspirated, force induction, cams, headers, etc.)

      Issue is, I know cylinder heads and don’t work on cars so my suggestions would be kind of guesswork or vague.
