Graham’s great. I love the fact he’s so honest about himself, his ability and his creativity. He’s been part of a big, important band but you get the impression, if you didn’t know that, that he was just a guy that records records at home. And I like that. Good man
The guitar solo in You’re So Great is my favourite of all time. The whole recording is just phenomenal. It’s all cracks and distant and yearning and that solo comes in and just tears the heart right out of you. I always saw it as the prelude to Coffee and TV. Fuck Coxon is great.
Thanks for asking about the drums! I remember getting the ‘love travels..’ album when it came out thinking who is the drummer! He/she plays to the song better than anyone I’ve heard.. years later found out coxon did it all himself. Genius.
You're So Great was always one of my favorite Blur songs. I love how Coxon knows how to break out of the rules just ever so slightly to perk up the ear. Love hearing these songs in their raw form. Great interview by Andy as well.
He really is the guitar player who is closest to my heart. His playing doesn’t intimidate me. His style of playing is so approachable, intuitive and unpretentious. And yet so colourful, sonically interesting and at times highly energetic. Like Damon said when Graham left the band: We‘ll need like a dozen musicians to replace him.
In my 45 years I have four long established guitar heroes - Dave Gilmour, The Edge, Johnny Marr and Graham Coxon. All four are sonic visionaries, exceptionally talented and creative's to the core. Graham is a total legend.
I can name 20 songs Graham wrote and be able to him them too. He may not be as technically proficient as Clapton but hes a better songwriter, I can only him I shot the sheriff and Layla.
Louis Batsford Bob Marley wrote I Shot the Sheriff btw! 🙄 Your opinion probably says more about your hero worship/fanboyism of Graham Coxon than the output of Eric Clapton to be perfectly honest. 😁 Here's one you can hum... ua-cam.com/video/8L82II1lNjo/v-deo.html How anybody not like this?
@@delakota555 I know Bob Marley wrote I shot the sheriff durrh? That's precisely my point he has to rely on other people's songs in order for people to hum them as his own aren't very hummable? And as for being a fanboy I'm more a fanboy of Rihanna
it's so crazy to hear the guy that literally made me obsessed with my guitar say that he really isn't very good at playing the guitar and probably not gunna get any better.. LOL, it's okay mate you're doin' juuuuuuuuuust fine. Gotta love Graham for that.
Graham has always been a big inspiration for myself, as a guitarist. He’s amazing, and I love how down to earth and genuine he is as well. People often don’t realise how much he carried Blur with his riffs and backing vocals, truly an incredible musician and I’m so glad he’s doing well now!
Honestly, I only got to know about him recently. The soundtrack of "The End of the F***ing World" was something that really got my attention, and I just thought it was background music in the show. I didn't know that songs like Bus Stop and Walking all day were actual SONGS written by someone called Graham coxon. These 2 songs were enough to make me wanna hear more from him. You're gold, Graham coxon, pure gold.
“Clover over Dover” came on my iTunes last night while I was driving home and I had to put it on repeat to admire the guitar playing again. This guy is legit!
AWESOME! I love Graham, my absolute favorite guitar(along with a few others)ever. The first 25 seconds of No Distance Left to Run still floors me every time I listen to it. Thanks Andy and Reverb.
Graham Coxon is definitely one of my greatest influences (the otherbeing Johnny Marr). Ever since Parklife came out in '94, there was no turning back for me. I don't know how I've only seen this video now.
He actually confirmed quite a bit of what I´ve been thinking about his working process. Honestly, I lost sight of Graham for a while and when I heard the soundtrack to TEOTFW, I was like, Whoa, dude now has about a dozen singing voices at hand. Yeah, he´s taking roles as a singer and he did fabulous with it. One thing, though- as much as I love this soundtrack I feel like it wasn´t that particularily well mastered. It appears a bit thin compared to other modern productions. That´s my only point of criticism about that one really. Go Graham!
The English Frusciante himself. Some man.... actually, how good would a Coxon/Frusciante collaboration be? The new Renbourn & Jansch... I'd buy a ticket.
Right? I think they sound so much alike for some reason... They both seem sensitive, creative and like their mood can be disturbed by the slightest thing
A live version of You're so Great...
Thank you Reverb, and of course thanks Graham
Truly, one of greatest blur's songs. Brilliant.
I know! I thought I'd never live to see it!
My favourite Blur tune by miles
Graham Coxon, Johnny Marr and Jonny Greenwood are tops in my book!
Graham Coxon, Johnny Marr, Jonny Greenwood and Edge in my book! :)
@@doneill5907 of course! If I gave it some thought my book would get pretty thick very quick. Lol
They're my top 3 too Derek, three inventive geniuses.
how about John Squire? i think he's doing great with The Stone Roses
I'd add Bernard Butler as well.

One of the greatest moments of my life! Caught an awesome solo show from Graham later that day in Chicago.
AndyDemos I’m living vicariously through you!
Now you need to marry Louise Wener...
Actually really happy for you that you got to meet him.

He thought of cars has some of the best guitar.
Lucky you!
im so mad no one would take me to see him :(( i was 17 at the time and the show was 18+
