This is definitely the kind of thing that's good to know going into a campaign. So many games have been ruined by players bringing characters that fundamentally don't work with the hook of the adventure.
Really like the interviews with the D&D team! And looking forward to Vecna: Eve of Ruin.. but it also feels like we see the same 5 art pieces over and over again..
I looooove the idea that the players themselves are from across the multiverse too. It's so cool that not everyone has to be from FR even though the adventure starts there!
What I am doing is having my players choosing individual campaigns that we have played over the last few years and choosing a character from that. There can’t be any double ups. I hope it helps with establishing they are already heroes who have done great deeds, and allows them to revisit some loved characters!
I dont know much neverwinter lore post dragon heist but especially with how I interpreted him in that book and ran him in the background/lore of my recent dragon heist campaign hearing he's still the lord of neverwinter is shocking to me if I do decide to buy this book I may have to change that.
Very excited for Vecna, and the new PHB. Speaking loosely, are we waiting days, weeks, or months for the "hours" of content about that? Because I'm very into seeing hours of content about the PHB.
probably expect to start seeing a lot more around july august, they dont wanna overshadow vecna and infinite staircase too much, and most of the heavy marketing for this adventure started about a month or so out.
Love this for even as a dm. However 100% The first question my players will ask is hey super powerful wizards give us all the highest level legendaries you've ever touched so that we can save the world. Give us 9 million greater healing potions, rare and legendary potions. Give us all the scrolls... I mean if you want us to save the world..
So to counter this (i expected this as well) I'm having it so that the characters who they used in "Vecna: Nest of the Eldritch eye" and recieved the blessing at the end.. are the only one's who can affect Vecna, because he gave them some of his essence when he blessed them, so the greater wizards (and their gear) wont have any effect, because their essence is already in those weapons/items.. so the characters HAVE to use "fresh" items. it's a stretch, and a weak plot point, but this way no one's handing the characters Blackrazor lol
I'm so ready to play my Wizard. She inadvertently ended up becoming almost like an anti-Vecna. Raised by her outcast witch mother, abducted into an knowledgeable order (the Red Wizards), stole their knowledge and turned against them, learns the secrets of Jazerian (while Vecna learned from Ahriman), lost a leg and an eye, and became a great teacher of magic (as opposed to a hoarder of secrets).
I want to run a game with vecna as the bbeg, with a twist The warlock that has been adventuring with the party had vecna as his patron and betrays the party and fights along side vecna
Idk may you all should remaster the old venca campaigns in venca Lives venca reborn and die venca die so new players to get to play the old campaign I know lots of players would love it
Man the OGL debacle really makes it hard to cheer for anything Wizard related. Not to mention the stuff that followed with the mess. Or was it prior? Point is, hard to enjoy or want to buy anything new. Especially a whole new set of books to play the game a different way.
You do know that the OGL debacle was resolved right? They apologized and have repeatedly reminded the community that 5e is going to be licensed under Creative Commons instead. I’d give them more credit. But haters just love to hate.
Looks and sounds interesting but my experience as a player so far is high level (above 10th) adventures are quite difficult especially keeping track or managing the increasing complex character sheet. Also long campaigns are more difficult to keep track of the plot and storyline especially when we can only play couple of nights per month.
Advice for DMs: Consider having low-level adventurers as npcs that are going to your party to seek them as patrons. At level 15, you should be delegating low-level adventures.
Maybe I'm seeing this in a negative way, but using previous modules in a copy and paste manor with the bbeg only growing to fame because of stranger things isn't exactly a huge hit to my mind. This seems like laziness. Look across UA-cam and various platforms that have waaaayyy better stories that are willing to be shared and some are for free! If you're going to try and find ways to nickel and dime us hasbro, at least give us the effort back in the quality of works given.
Yeaaaaaaaaaah... Vecna's been around since the 70's, when Jack Vance made him... the show boosted popularity for sure, but he's been around since before the show, as has all the 5th edition adventures that came out before the show. They're combining lots of things from the past 50 years, like Miska the greater demon into this.. not just the 5e adventures. I get what you're saying, but Hasbro has a new president, and if you watch the videos from Jeremy Crawford, and Chris Perkins.. you can tell it's something they're passionate about

Ive had this happen, i made an orc fighter just to find out it was an adventure based entirely in rp
This is why a session zero is important. Expectations need to be set.
I wish this was just a 15 second short with Neil saying "Weep. And beg that I succeed for the halls of the gods are empty."
Really like the interviews with the D&D team! And looking forward to Vecna: Eve of Ruin.. but it also feels like we see the same 5 art pieces over and over again..
All the best stuff will be spoilers.
My knight of solamnia is ready for this adventure.
Ive been waiting on something like this to get a character concept built up. I am super excited and can't wait for it.

This adventure is going to be so much fun to run.
I can't WAIT to run this! ❤❤

Dude same. I keep refreshing trying to see that content.
I'd imagine June or July they'll start either before or after they release infinite staircase
I presume after VECNA launch, marketing cycle will go hard core
probably expect to start seeing a lot more around july august, they dont wanna overshadow vecna and infinite staircase too much, and most of the heavy marketing for this adventure started about a month or so out.
Would be so helpful to have a published players guide.

I really want to play this. Now I just have to convince my DM to run it

Have you guys announced who wrote each scenario? Specifically 'The Ruined Colossus'?
Would be very interesting to see!
Many thanks
I want to run a game with vecna as the bbeg, with a twist
The warlock that has been adventuring with the party had vecna as his patron and betrays the party and fights along side vecna
My players already said they're murder hobo'ing any NPC that seems too interested lol
I’m sure my 6 year old will appreciate and honor this advice
Idk may you all should remaster the old venca campaigns in venca Lives venca reborn and die venca die so new players to get to play the old campaign I know lots of players would love it
Hey dnd! When does the player handbook deep dive come out!?
👌

I mean, that sounds fun, but that's not a ine size fits all solution.
I won't buy a single D&D book until Joe Manganiello is allowed to bring to life his Dragonlance series.

I’d read the module before making a rash assumption. Because if you had actually read it you probably wouldn’t have commented that…
