Olly Croft accused the sixteen players who split from the BDO of thinking that they owned darts. What he forgot to mention was that he thought he owned darts.
Met the Crafty Cockney years ago when he played some mates I worked with in Llandudno North Wales, remember him being quite tall and good dude. Please edit the video, annoying that it just repeats after 9:30.
As a darts fan I used to love the lakeside world championship. Will always remember that first year tuning in and seeing all these players I had never heard of before like John Part. Couldn't understand where all the best players had gone. It was pretty depressing.
@@larsdierickx7543 The best way to increase power is to keep your arm lose and you grip light. Lower your elbow a bit and when raising the dart stretch your arm out nice and straight to the point of aim. Make sue the dart is out fair enough for you to get a good draw back without changing the height of your elbow. Also try and pull the dart back slower building momentum. This will help you follow though correctly and keep the dart travelling with power. 😀 Hope this helps.
Eric and the other 13 players who split from the BDO and *stayed strong* are absolute legends. If you love watching darts then you owe them a massive debt of gratitude.
@@anthonymatute6057 Yeah, they did them dirty. Not that it did either of them any good. Many years after the split I saw Mike Gregory interviewed with Phil Taylor. When asked about the split Gregory admitted that he'd made a mistake going back to the BDO.
The split also gave a lifeline to several washed up old pros at least for a while. Deller, Gardner, Lazarenko hadn’t even qualified for the last unified BDO and Bristow, Jocky were way past their best by that time.
Olly Croft was a short-sighted dinosaur who grossly overestimated his importance to the sport. He thought darts couldn’t exist without him, when in fact, it was the inverse.
snooker should do this look at where darts was in the 80s/90s and look at where snooker was in the 80s/90s now look at where the two sports are now you have to take action in order to progress your sport because ultimately darts is growing in terms of tv numbers, global growth, game reach etc whilst snooker remains stagnant and almost stuck in a time warp
snooker did do this when they let the guy who created the PDC take over snooker. if you haven't noticed the difference in snooker you arent watching enough. Snooker make more money now than the did in the dark days of the late 2000's. Barry Hearn has done an awesome job with snooker. Before he took over their was about 8 events a season there is now 23. Including 4 Chinese events, 1 in Saudi Arabia & 2 in Germany, with the rest in the UK. Also snooker now has 8 events for women professionals. Barry Hearn is the best thing to happen to both Darts & Snooker. He has also made sure to keep the majority of the major tournaments on free TV with the BBC and other UK Tournaments on ITV cos he could easily make more money taking it to sky. Ask any snooker player about how they thing Barry Hearn is doing and he'd get 100% backing. Barry Hearn is determined to grew the game in Europe with more Tournaments in Europe. Christ we even got our first Belgian world champion.
The spazzy darts its on just now. The standard is so bad, I don't know why the BDO, or whatever they are called now still bother. It is such a low standard.
These Muppets were lucky to hit ONE 180...L Litter throws them for fun, even Taylor in his heyday would get smoked in the first round, they were not that good when you look back.
They where playing on smaller segments that's also had bigger wires. Look at Taylor at his best 2009 World matchplay, 110av over the whole event. That's 85 legs and an overall average of 110. Littler hasn't come close to that. It's not all about 180s, Adrian Lewis, MVG and Anderson at there best hit just as many 180s and none of them beat taylor on top foram. Lewid threw a 116av over along format and still got smoked. Not only that, but if Taylor haded bank rolled the PDC when it started, we wouldnt have the PDC today.
You see, he shouldn't have. Then he wouldn't have been Olly. He was a horrible horrible person who owned darts in the UK, and had a big say in the sport in the rest of the world. The sport had to move on and leave him behind and it did.

They didn’t think they did. They just wanted more than they were getting and rightfully so.

I hope that the channel grows
Thank you!! 😊 I'm sure we will 😀
@@Straightdarts I cant throw the darts hard enough to reach the board. Any tips?

While Chris Johns & Mike Gregory didn’t have any balls to be in the PDC since they split and decided to be big fish in a small pond.

Know the story, but it's great to see video to go with it, especially here in the 🇺🇲 👍
Thanks, Iv always loved this story.

It was because no darts was on the tv , the BDO died due to Croft and the last horrendous bloke

You do realise the brains of the PDC are the Brian's who run snooker right?

I'm going to do a video on it soon, I'd like to know your opinion on my thoughs after it in the comments. :) I'll keep mh eye out for you.
The standard of the BDO is so bad compared to the PDC that the BDO is only capable of county/pub & amateur darts and will never bring in any money.
@@anthonymatute6057 Which is the whole point of the BDO now, it's for amateurs. Not everyone can be, or wants to be a professional.
Look at the PDC and what happened to the BDO now defunct
He done well for darts but things move on

Taylor is the best there's ever been.
Olly Croft was a spiteful greedy fool. He should have cut a deal with the top players. There would of been enough money on the table for everyone.
