I appreciate the study of the Holy Scriptures and your enthusiasm for the subject and most of all, your honesty regarding what we know and do not know. If it refreshing to have lessons like this so we can think for ourselves.
Well, I forgot to schedule this as a premiere! So if you have anything you would normally put in the live chat, feel free to comment here :) I'll respond as we go :)
Nathaniel's story in "the chosen" was actually relatable for young people especially to those in their 20s who are starting their careers. Seeing your dreams die is actually like a heartbreak. You also see yourself as a failure but God has more plans for him. He wasn't just an architect. Though, his end was sooo much tragic if the tradition were true 😭😭😭 being scourged until flayed? Too much 😭😭😭
I wanted to be a professional musician and artist in my 20s. I failed. It led to a long battle with depression. Now I'm in school for accounting and it feels much more like my calling. Trust the plan. Trust in God.
I have a small church group studying The Chosen. I told my group about your videos I'm so impressed with your work. They all wrote down the information to look up your content. Thank you for what you do. .
I really am enjoying these studies on the apostles! You're doing such a great job and I especially enjoy the happiness and pure joy that comes out of you! God bless you❤
Appreciate your honesty and feel strongly that it helps people who do read the Bible and look for confirmation of things they have heard or been taught and don’t find it there. Instead of questioning false teaching by the many religious leaders we encounter today, your presentations help clarify we don’t really know for sure but here is scholars views and what tradition and scripture say so there you go. I agree it is ok not to know even though we wish we did. The truth is what keeps us grounded in faith and it’s that faith based on what we do know to be absolute truth in scripture and in our personal relationship with God that really matters most. As always, great job David. So helpful and interesting.
1:35:00 Wow! 'Fidler on the Roof'! Cool 😎. Didn't expect to hear that from your generation. Your parents (maybe even grandparents) did well exposing you to that great musical. 👍
Your studies and depth is truly enlightening … topped off with your love of Jesus and the scriptures and your enthusiasm … thank you as always for your teachings…
You are a very smart and passionate person! I, also, always felt in my sprit that Nat/ Bart was praying or talking to God under the fig tree when Jesus told him he" saw him under the fig tree" I like your insight and connection with Jacob angels asending desending the ladder. Also, it is interesting in Psalm 32:1-2 NIV...."Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him, and whose spirit is no deceit" Thank you for all the info🙌
As usual David you put your A-Game on this! I am loving this series and am continually being amazed at what I’m learning! Please continue being a blessing to The Body!
1:07:50 If I may add, after disjointing Jacob's thigh socket but Jacob still wouldn't release Him until He blessed him, He asks, "What is your name?" When Jacob gives it, that's when He changes it to Israel. I tear up whenever I read or hear that part as it reminds me of this explanation: the last time Jacob was blessed, he received it when he said his name was Esau. Now, he finally was truthful, putting away his deceitful ways. Thus, he receives his true blessing, no longer the one merely from his father Isaac, which he received as Esau; but as himself before the God of his fathers Himself, earning God's renaming him Israel, reflecting that change of heart.
I always learn so much from these video studies. Thanks for taking the time to do the research and share with us! I'm looking forward to the rest of the Apostles. 🙏✝️❤
I love the info you have for us, but I can barely read the white letters on the green background. Can you fix that. Thanks. Please keep up your excellent work you do for our benefit. 🙏🏻
Brother David, Thank you so much for letting us know more about the history about The Apostle Nathaniel/Bartholomew!😀❤ Also, thank you so very much for taking the time to teach us about Apostle Nathaniel!😀❤ I can't wait to hear about Matthew/Levi? (Please forgive me if I misspelled his name.) Also, thank you so much for taking the time to pray at the beginning of your BLESSED videos to bring us closer to Jesus!!!!!✝️❤✝️❤✝️❤✝️❤ Until next time, I love you so very much, Brother in Christ!!!!!!✝️❤😘
Thanks, David, for all the hard work you put into these deep drives into the Apostles. Your take on Nathaniel studying Jacob while under that fig tree really gives interesting insight into what Jesus has to say to Nathaniel. God's word is deep and often mysterious! We get more the more we study. It's was good to laugh as well... those nostrils... and the James Bond puns....😁 Jesus laughs, so should we!
I don't know if they had any biblical basis for making him an architect; as far as I'm aware, that was primarily just a creative decision they implemented, much like Thomas being the one in charge of the wine at the wedding in Cana :)
Yeah, very strong language! I've heard various different interpretations of precisely what is meant by that (many people try to say that "hate" is an idiom there, but I think that might lessen the strength of what God is going for); some day I want to look more into it.
Just a comment on how a lot of scholars don't trust the Bible yet archaeologists use the Bible as reference to find sites for ancient ruins. It's more than just a spiritual book, it's also a historical book.
I love that you are doing this study.
Thanks, Kathy!

I’m surprised these videos don’t have more views. You did an amazing job. I am truly blessed.

Ha! Yes, I love it :)

Great stuff! I love the story of Jacob; there's so much beauty in it!
My youngest son is named Jonathan & I told him that I was watching your video & learned there were 14 Jonathan's in the Old Testament 😀
Ha, that's great! I'm sure he enjoyed that :)
Another great video from you dear David. And it is so fun to listen to you. Thank you for doing it. God bless you 🙏
Thanks, Ana! God bless :)

My pleasure! :)
You're doing a great job and I'm learning a lot but I'm enjoying it so it's really not like learning at all. You're just so enthusiastic it's fun.
Thanks so much! :)
Amazing Video, really help me in my journey in knowing God more. God bless you brother David, you are used by God mightily!
Could possibility that Bartholomew is actually a translation from bar 'tholomew'. Bar meaning descendant of a person.
Yeah! That's what most people would probably go with. Bartholomew = "Bar-Tolmai"
I love the info you have for us, but I can barely read the white letters on the green background. Can you fix that. Thanks. Please keep up your excellent work you do for our benefit. 🙏🏻

I really like your videos, you have done so much research, it is just super interesting! 🥰👍
I love this series. How do you make pictures to show what the video has in it.
I just use Powerpoint, and I click through as I talk :)

I was hoping you'd also explore what would have been 'The Chosen''s possible basis for making Nathanael an architect.
I don't know if they had any biblical basis for making him an architect; as far as I'm aware, that was primarily just a creative decision they implemented, much like Thomas being the one in charge of the wine at the wedding in Cana :)
In Malachi 1:3 God says, "I loved Jacob and I hated Esau". Pretty harsh condemnation of the elder brother, no?
Yeah, very strong language! I've heard various different interpretations of precisely what is meant by that (many people try to say that "hate" is an idiom there, but I think that might lessen the strength of what God is going for); some day I want to look more into it.

I would go with what the early church taught. They were closest to the apostles. Too much fracturing in the church muddied the waters.
I think Todd White is an apostle...
Son of Tholomew?
So just like Simon Peter was he Nathaniel Bartholomew or Bartholomew Nathaniel? Either way same person
