    I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to find your video when researching for my Bibilcal fanfiction story. The first few videos were less than 10 minutes long, and then I saw a nearly 2-hour deep dive. Not just going over all the various traditions and scriptures but also the validity of his name and what Zelot meant in this context. Because you said you were also writing a book at one point, I'll share the outline for Simmon's place in the story. In this fanfiction (much closer to Paradise Lost or Dante's Divine Comedy than a dramatized retelling like The Chosen One), I have Judas and Simmon butting heads the most as they travel with Jesus.
    Similarly to how you said Jesus corrected the Pharisees the most because they almost had the truth. They both agreed that Rome had to go but disagreed on the methods. Judas says they need to use guerilla tactics and assassinations, while Simmon argues they need to stage a new rebellion and fight them like the Candidates. Though they head the most, they're the closest among the apostles and have the strongest brotherhood. That makes it hurt even more when Simmon sees Judas betray Jesus. Events play out as described in the Gospels and Acts until Simmon sees Judseesalking down the street one day. See, in this fanfiction (I cannot stress enough that this is Biblically inspired fanfiction, but this is not meant to be an actual theory on theology), Judas is actually Cain from Genesis, who was cursed with immortality after killing his brother. He traveled the world and returned to the holy land around the time of Jesus, became his disciple, and was then tricked by satan into betraying Jesus when satan convinced Judas that the "Son of Man" or "Son of Adam" was to die was himself and to preserve his life he needed to betray Jesus. Once Simmon sees the traitor alive and walking, he gives chase, and Judas "dies" after falling from a cliff trying to outrun Simmon. Simmon continues a fruitless chase where Judas falls from a building every time he gets close or is swept away by a river, giving him another head start. This goes on for years until Simmon realizes he's wasting his time and should be spreading the gospel instead of chasing the traitor. Still workshopping the idea and storyline, but that's the barebones of the story.

    Just a note on crucifixion in Britain. Britain was part of the Roman Empire from the first to fourth centuries and had the same penal code until Constantine abolished the practice in the 4th Century. There is archaeological evidence of crucifixion in Britain. Also, you didn't cover the tradition where Simon was sawn in half - which is why in Roman Catholic tradition, he's often depicted with a saw in statues or art. Love your videos, and enjoyed the apostles series. You've obviously done a lot of work! Keep it up.

    Brother David,
    Thanks so much for teaching us about The Apostle Simon The Zealot!✝️❤All of this men were just such a BLESSING to learn about them. ✝️❤
    I honestly am but I'm also not looking forward for learning about The Apostle Judas Iscariot, I wish that Judas wouldn't have ended his life, and let Jesus forgive him, like he did with Simon Peter, but alas I know that wasn't the case, but I wish that it was the case that he had been forgiven.💔😕

Looking forward to the next video in the series (if it is 2 videos even better as I am extremely enjoying this series so the more content the better). The Prophets series sounds great as well, would be great to hear a bit about the life of those prophets as well, especially the minor ones e.g. Habakkuk, Zachariah. God Bless! 🙏🏾

    Well I for one think it is cool that Simon Z maybe came to Brittania :) (you said there wasn't ref to crucifixion in Britain because it was particular to the Romans, we were part of the empire!) I have also heard of a tradition that Mary Magdalene came here and even (far less plausible) that Jesus himself came here while apprenticing in his trade - the Hymn Jerusalem references this.. "and did those feet in ancient times walk upon Englands mountains green"

    I think Hippolytus is correct. There’s zero writings of Simon “the Zeolot” in the Bible other than the list. Zero writings in early Christianity the Zeolot, and writings of two distinguished Simons. As one of the 12 apostles. Someone that important would not have been ignored. And same with James son of Alpheus and Jude. I think the obvious explanation is those 3 always grouped James, Simon, Jude are the same 3 as the brothers of the lord. And we have other writings in early Christianity supporting this.

      @@NowLetsBeHonest Thank you! I have so many questions in general about theology. I was raised Catholic, nominally considered myself one as an adult and baptized my kids Catholic. But I never believed in most of the teaching. I was saved almost 8 years ago. I’m disabled and alone at home as a Believer. I can’t get to church; no one here will take me and I don’t drive. My sisters, who helped me get saved, believe in things I don’t. Just recently I found out it’s called word of faith and something else, not sure. So I’m trying to get away from that bad theology (cutting soul ties, belief that saying I have PD and epilepsy gives it power and that’s whY I’m still ill, casting out demons, generational curses, and more). I don’t hold to those beliefs but that’s what they taught me. So I’m seeking my own understanding by just studyIng the Bible and researching from videos and books. I like your channel and from what I can tell agree with you. I also watch Brandon Robbins and Mike Winger. Any help I really appreciate. It's difficult when my own family mocks me (kids, even husband sometimes, though at least he believes even if he doesn't practice).

    Full disclosure here: not a Christian. Nevertheless, I like your content. You are very knowledgeable and you seem to have decent grasp of what the Bible actually requires of Christians, according to Jesus' words, which I would think ought to be the main source of normative guidance for someone calling themselves "Christian," right? But you often see people calling themselves Christian, but who live contrary to Jesus' teachings. I think this same thing was going on in the temple in Jesus' own time. Which brings us to Matthew 6. I don't mean to be provocative, I'm geninely curious, and you seem to know what you're talking about. So, humbly I ask you, why did you pray out loud on camera at the beginning of your video? I see Christians praying out in public, over loud speakers, in big groups, rambling on with their prayers a lot of the time. But Jesus says in Matthew 6:5 that you should not make a show of it, but go home and pray in secret, because God already knows what you need. He also specifically says not to "babble like pagans" by which he means keep it short and sweet. So why all the praying as a spectacle? Why not pray silently in secret? I hope that doesn't come across as offensive. I've asked this to several poeple and nobody has ever answered, so I worry that it might seem like i'm being disingenuous. I promise, I'm not.

    • @NowLetsBeHonest
      @NowLetsBeHonest  Місяць тому

      @johntornay419 that's a great question!
      So in general, I don't pray on screen before every video, because as you mentioned, I don't want it to be simply for show. In Matthew 6, Jesus isn't outright forbidding praying in public, but he is pointing out that those praying in public could have a hidden agenda: They could he seeking the praise of men. ("Look at me and how righteous I am!") That's why it is safer to pray "in secret," because it shows that you don't have a secret agenda. In other words, the principle is that we should be checking our hearts and asking ourselves why we are doing what we are doing: Am I seeking the praise of men, or am I seeking to glorify God? This could be applied in all areas of life, even beyond prayer. Prayer is simply one of the examples Jesus cites in the passage.
      The reason I often pray before my more "scholarly" videos is because I recognize that there could be a genuine temptation to get puffed up with the knowledge of what we are learning that we get distracted by the academia of it all, and so I find it helpful to pray "with the viewer," so to say, to help us keep our minds focused on the things which really matter. While my goal is to teach and inform, ultimately the goal of my channel isn't merely educational. Praying ahead of time is my way of reminding the viewer that knowledge alone isn't the end goal, or else we could very well end up like the Pharisees Jesus criticized -- knowledgeable but lacking in godliness.
      Hope that makes sense!

    • @johntornay419
      @johntornay419 Місяць тому

      @@NowLetsBeHonest Thanks for the reply. I think you're doing good work. I don't know a ton about godliness, but you seem very genuine and quite wise. Knowledge on its own can either be vacuous or dangerous, understanding is far more important. I think that King David says something to that effect somewhere, right? Probably Ecclesiastes if I know about it. But I don't know really. I'm pretty sure you do though. Keep preaching and teaching and I'll keep watching your videos. I'm honestly not likely to convert or anything, but apart from fundamental beliefs about God and Jesus, and rules particular to religious belief, I have basically about as close to a Christian morality as you'll likely get from someone with a secular ethics. Plus, I like theology and history.

    • @johntornay419
      @johntornay419 Місяць тому

      Wow, reading some of the other comments, you're quite brave. You have the combination of biblical scholars and historians holding your content under a microscope, like the two pedantic academic groups after philosophers (I'm a philosopher by the way) just waiting to correct any detail they think you got wrong or missed. Haha. I'm sure it's fun for you though, given that your passionate about it.

    The Sadducee Temple priests officiated the weekly Sabbaths and High Days at the time of Christ, who never contested their solar calendar.
    In 66AD the Pharisee Anti-Roman (Anti-Fasse/ANTIFA) Zealot rebels, seized control of the Temple.
    When contested for control, 20000 Judean 'Jewish' Edomites assisted the Zealots and murdered most of the Sadducee aristocracy, priests and hundreds of the Jerusalem populace.
    The ANTIFA Zealot rebels then appointed their own accursed lunar calendar high priest, who was the last to be seen standing in the Holy Place when THREE AND A HALF YEARS later, the Prince of the Roman Emperor arrived and desolated Jerusalem, Judea and the Jews in 70 AD - culminating in the taking of Masada another THREE AND A HALF YEARS AFTERWARDS.
    Most of the Christians, remembering Christ's words, escaped to Jordan between the two sieges of Jerusalem - the first siege by General Gallus who then strangely withdrew from Judea, and the second by "prince" Titus son of the new Emperor.
    These SEVEN YEARS are the fulfillment of Daniels prophesy.
    Surviving Pharisees continued to enforce their lunar calendar 'sabbaths and high days' in the Synagogues, which they controlled - hiding the Sadducee Temple calendar from the people.
    Constantine managed to establish the Resurrection day as Sunday in 30 AD on their Julian calendar, which actually overlapped the Biblical weekly Sabbath THAT year.
    Unable to establish the Biblical calendar, Constantine changed Sunday to the first day of his new Roman week in honour of the Resurrection.
    Later Constantine's son Constantius ll, knowing the Pharisee's lunar interpretation of the Biblical calendar to be Babylonian and Canaanite, forbade them from signaling the start of their lunar months across the Empire from Jerusalem.
    As a concequence, Hillel ll was forced to choose a Roman day for their weekly 'sabbath', and he chose Saturday - the seventh day of Constantine's NEW week. The rest of their lunar calendar they kept by Rabbinical calculation.
    Thus the true Biblical Temple calendar was lost until the discovery of the Dead Sea Scroll's.
    The Dead Sea Scroll's solar calendar, corrected to the Sadducee 19th Abib Omer Wave Sheaf, is the correct Biblical calendar revealing the weekly Sabbaths and High Days - which is why the Zionist State of Israel suppressed them for 40 years before they were leaked out on micro fish copies.

    Saturday was only chosen for the Jewish 'sabbath' by Heliel II about 300 years after Christ. He standardised the Jewish calendar. Even before that the weekly 'sabbath' they kept was the Babylonian lunar 'sabbath' that the Pharisees introduced and enforced in the Synagogues after the Temple was destroyed in 70AD.
    The true weekly Sabbath was already hidden by the Pharisees in favour of the Babylonian lunar interpretation of the Biblical calendar. Knowing this, Constantine's son forbade them from signaling their pagan lunar calendar observations across the Roman Empire.
    However Constantine himself was unable to determine the true Biblical weekly Sabbath, but he was able to determine that Christ was resurrected in that year on the Roman solar calendars "Sunday". Therefore in honour of the resurrection he changed Sunday to the first day of his NEW Roman week and also made Sunday the day of rest.
    Without Roman authority to signal their Babylonian lunar 'sabbath' across the empire, Hillel II and other anti-Christ Jews were forced to choose a Roman weekday as their "new sabbath" and he chose the seventh day of Constantine's new Roman week - i.e. "Saturday" !
    Rabbi 'Sages' don't tell you all this and most Rabbis don't even know this themselves !
    Karaite Jews today still keep the Babylonial lunar calendar and many Christians have been seduced into doing the same.
    Jericho was an ancient lunar calendar observation city dedicated to and named after their moon god.
    The Bible called Jericho the "accursed city" and Joshua was commanded to totally destroy it and its inhabitants after marching around it once for six consecutive days and seven times on the seventh day - i.e. 13 times in total !
    I think that, as opposed to the Second Advent and the "Marriage of the Lamb" that nobody knows, the preceding "great and dreadful day of the Lord" can actually be established as the 20th March 2031.
    The world will feel that ominous consuming fire approaching and will run around trying to hide, while Christians enter into their inner prayer "chambers".
    When the Christians come out, there will be no OTHER flesh and blood survivers - who will be burnt up and trodden "as ash under their feet."
    They will mourn for their friends and relatives who weren't "saved", but SOMETIME afterwards will witness the return of Christ coming from east to west.
    Raising their eyes they will be transformed in an instant, allowing them to rise up and meet His RETURN.
    Thereafter they will be consoled when He "wipes the tears" from their eyes and takes care of them like as "calves of the stall".
    That's how I perceive these future Biblical events, but I will look at the verses you mention......
    Don't the dead in Christ rise "first" - a great multitude ? Then those living Christians that are "left" come safely out of their prayer chambers - AFTER the "wrath", to "tread upon the ashes of the wicked who have been removed from the earth" - "The righteous shall NEVER be removed but the wicked shall be cut off". These "saved" righteous remnant then "lift up their eyes", and are then "changed in the twinkling of an eye", and able to rise up and meet Christ returning with this great host.....
    The chronology in the Septuagint is a few hundred years longer than in the Masoretic Text. Both are flawed:
    The imminent millennial reign of Christ on earth coincides with Yahweh's 2nd 'day' of rest - "and His rest shall be glorious" because His Son is ruling on earth for that 1000-year-day.
    So if Yahweh's first "day" of rest was ALSO a thousand-year-day, in which Adam died at 930 years old "in the same day" he sinned, and Adam was also made near the end of the previous 6th 'day', then we are currently near the end of the 13th thousand-year-day which actually ends on the "great and dreadful day of the Lord" on the 20th March 2031.
