    I loved your opening prayer. As always, I learn from your presentations and am impressed with the depth of your research. I DO feel blessed by your presentations, as well. I am new to reading the Bible and go to the scriptures you reference in your videos. I like how your prayers are so sincere in asking God to help your listeners grow in their love for Him. I especially love how you end your prayers with "I love you, God." I include you in my prayers, David. 🙏❤

    25:12 😂 Though I would agree with you about John MacArthur's overstating his case, I'm laughing out of "Whoa! That's courageous of you!" ... and coming from a younger dude.😁 And yes, it's the first time I've heard such a critique from anyone on him at all - whether from younger or older dudes. (🙃 haven't found him commenting here yet 😀)

    18:53 - which does show that the bible and gospels are on the forefront speaking of God and Jesus as the Son of God, and the disciples were only servants to the Master. Praise be to you Jesus!

    14:24 - so that is interesting since Nathaniel was in a Roman city and was friends with Phillip and with Philip name meaning love of horses. I do not think many people had horses in the day unless they were royalty or the Romans. Would this be that maybe his father was a blacksmith and so needed to shoe horses and Phillip loved to help since he was a child?

    Growing up in the church we hear so many of the traditions presented as absolute truth and I realize that I just accepted a lot of things that aren't actually in the Bible without looking into it more. Things like all the apostles besides John dying martyrs' deaths or like Peter being crucified upside down. Seeing all these conflicting sources really puts all the extra information into a new light. If it isn't in God's Word we just can't know for sure that it's true. I also grew up thinking that the two Philips were the same person. I read through the book of Acts and just assumed that the apostle was the one who evangelized to the Ethiopian. If you don't mind me asking, how can we know that the Philip in all the other stories is the "evangelist" and not the "apostle?" I know that Stephen gave that amazing speech but wasn't the duty of the 7 to look after the church in Jerusalem? And the Bible does also say that they were scattered but from just reading the Bible text in Acts alone it doesn't seem clear to me which Philip it actually is.

    • @NowLetsBeHonest
      @NowLetsBeHonest  3 роки тому

      Hi there! So the reason we know that the Philip being referred to in Acts 8 is Philip "the evangelist" vs. Philip "the apostle" is ultimately rooted in Acts 8:1: "And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles." So we know that the church was scattered, but the apostles themselves remained in Jerusalem.
      Since the very next story begins by saying that Philip was one of "those who were scattered" (8:4) and that he "went down to the city of Samaria" (8:5), we know that he can't be the apostle, because the apostles weren't yet scattered and so they were still in Jerusalem. So this would make us think that the Philip being talked about is the one mentioned alongside Stephen Acts 6:5, with the deacons appointed to help out the church :)
      Hope that helps!

    Question: why is there an assumption that the Philip who confronted the Ethiopian eunuch is a different Philip than Philip the Apostle?

      From his gospel:
      "It is not possible to perceive anything of the Imperishable unless one becomes like It.
      In the world of the True Life, everything happens not in the same way as among worldly people: they perceive the sun, although they are not the sun, they perceive the sky and the earth and all other objects, not being them.
      But in that world, you perceive something, and you become it. Thus you perceive the Holy Spirit, and you become Him. You perceive a Christ, and you become a Christ. You perceive the Father, you become the Father.
      In that world you perceive everything, but you do not perceive yourself. But you perceive yourself as That One, because you become the One Whom you see."
      "Those who say that they will die first and then rise are in error. If they do not receive the Resurrection while being incarnate, they will receive nothing after leaving their bodies.
      It is the same with baptism: it is significant only if it is received by the incarnate."

    Your summations regarding education are rather limited, at best. I personally, am SURROUNDED by people with PHD's, letters after their names, both in family AND church, and I barely eked out a GED (Due to problematic behavior, more than anything else). The point is, you CANNOT assume someone's educational level SIMPLY BASED on WHERE they were born. (Can anything good come from Nazarene?). This is a VERY weak position, and should be presented as such.

    • @NowLetsBeHonest
      @NowLetsBeHonest  2 роки тому

      That's definitely why I put a question mark next to the education box and said multiple times that we couldn't be sure🤣 I'm just reporting the results of my research. Also, you have to remember that ancient Israel was a much more communal culture than our present, individualistic culture, so a lot of times you could lump people together, because a vast majority would have the same life experiences given the nature of their culture. Of course there are going to be exceptions (that's the whole point of, "Can anything good come from Nazareth?"--Jesus was an exception), but in general, people from Judea were more educated and Galilee had a reputation for being less educated. Most boys went through the same basic schooling at the time, and so, while we can't be sure, I think it is a safe assumption that he had a limited education. We are dealing with history, of course, which means that we can't be certain; we just have to come to conclusions based on the evidence available to us.

    • @rebeccadixon4645
      @rebeccadixon4645 2 роки тому

      @@NowLetsBeHonest MY point, which you apparently missed, is that some things weren't an "exception," but an INTENTIONAL detail of GOD'S Divine plan. Nevertheless, it's clear that we perceive these truths through the lens given to us by GOD, and so I concede to your earlier point, that YES, it IS more likely that the younger generation were more engaged in the teachings of JESUS: I absolutely LOVE your zeal for Christ, and in most cases find your perspective refreshing. I Pray your success in this form of teaching AND Evangelizing, as a wonderful way of inciting others, young AND old, to "Come see a Man.." 🙏
