I'm an American, and I find it amazing that no matter what comes out of Baron's mouth, it seems incredibly smart based solely on his accent... I can be explaining Einstein's Theory of Relativity, but I'd sound like a complete moron because of my accent...

I'm massively using modern technologies. So I'm glad that I'm still not the kind of person who needs a blackout to get the idea of picking up a good book for a change. It's amazing that there are even books out there which taught me quite a lot about proper bike riding techniques. It's obvious how one could profit massively from printed words of wisdom and yet so few actually do. But that's just how our first world society works.
Regarding the acpocalypse scenario: not only did all great, old empires disappear, also "modern mankind" was having wars over the last couple of hundreds years almost on a regular basis. Big wars always acted like some sort of reset button for countries' economies and the people had to stick together to rebuild and start all over again. I'm convinced that World War 3 is NOT going to happen. Still the financial rulers of the world think our economy/economic growth needs to keep on getting bigger and bigger. Soon we'll face problems which we did not have to face before. More and more people, also in our "privileged" countries are struggling to afford their lives and satisfy their daily needs while very few get richer and richer. We've seen people rioting in the streets in European countries like Greece, Bosnia or right now in the Ukraine. I think we'll have the same situations in our countries as well sooner or later. I think it won't be that apocalyptic but there will be some sort of "big bang" happening on the streets because at some point hopefully the so-called 99% is going to realize that it is in their hands to actually change the system we have right now. A system of turbo capitalism and an evergrowing gap between the poor and the rich.
Just like you "welcome" an apocalypse I welcome a scenario like this. Bring it on, I'll be the first to throw a big pile of shit into the first corrupt bank manager's face I come across.
But I'm not welcoming this for the sake of vandalism and violence. Rather because Austria is a very wealthy nation. The wealth has fucked with a lot of people's heads and they turned themselves into egocentric bastards. And from every country where "the shit is going down" you can hear stories about a never seen before form of solidarity between people. Because "tough" situations let them realize that living gets easier when you decide to stick together. Just like back in the stone ages, we'll realize that we need to stick together and share if we all want to have better lifes or even simply survive in the end.

SuperSneakyOwl The 99% are sheep programmed by television, advertising, facebook and other shit. They will never rise against the 1%...look closely to what`s happening in Ukraine..or what happened in every country the U.S> invaded...the 1%does whatever they want and that ain`t gonna change soon. Apart from that scenario though there are like 27553 possible "apocalipses" waiting to happen..and one of those will eventually happen...so I hope you know how to grow your own vegetables, have a basic understanding of hunting and using to the fullest what gain has to offer. Good day

I once stayed in a longhouse village in Borneo, no electricity and the food they ate was whatever they could get from the rainforest/their crops that day. Everyone eating and living as a proper community. The mind fuck moment was, as I was leaving I saw one of the teenagers with an acoustic guitar, playing Nirvana?!

Great video. Often contemplate the same thing. Having power cuts can bring you back to what's important in life and you do realise how dependent we are as a species on the knowledge of a very small few. I agree, the simpler times are often the better ones. Criminal that you hadn't read a book in ten years though! If you choose to do it again I have recommendations.

Others having to sleep in sports hall, which created problems-over loaded toilet systems,a few fights. It was like watching civilization break down. I like the idea that a lot of the people in the US have about living in home made houses and powered purely by the sun and a small generator. I'd love to do something like that in the future, just as long as your apocalypse doesn't come along and wipe us all out. The weather here in the UK has been terrible so far and it's only February!! I really hope we get a proper summer this year, not a wet and horible one like what we've had in recent years.

Two main theories from a couple famous blokes:
1 - Population increase till collapse = bring things back to sustainable
2 - Population increase = more intelligence = learn how to be more sustainable
I personally favour theory 2, we have the intelligence to solve almost every problem. Energy wise, nuclear fusion seems so slowly be progressing forward. Other renewable energies are also progressing rapidly in their efficiency. Food wise GM has huge potential, if only the public eye would see it as a benefit to humanity rather than some mutant apocalypse inducing way of making food. Nations need to become self-sustainable, producing their own food, energy etc.
The only real problem I see in the near future is to do with rare-earth minerals used in much of today's technology. There's not a lot out there which can substitute for them and so once it's gone, well hipsters ain't gonna have the new iPhone. But then again technological advancements might make us able to produce substitute materials. Science always finds a way...problem is it takes time and funding.
Don't be so negative and pessimistic y'all..
