I read Stars my Destination based off your recommendation. Such a fun revenge story I really enjoyed it. Love the part about the cult that finds him in the beginning. In Stephen kings short story collection Skeleton Crew there’s a story about “jaunting” gone wrong. Maybe inspired by this novel. The more I read the more connections I find between books/stories.

So glad one of my recommendations worked out for you, I’ll be working my way through skeleton crew again soon , the mist was very cool.
When you start connecting the dots is when reading really becomes fun lol

Omg I thought I lost Zoe, she was in my couch 🤣
I don’t think I explained it right but I feel like I’m making my own pulp magazine by jumping from story to story author to author 🕰️

    hi there, friend.
glad you went to the dentist. teeth are really important to one's health. keep going regularly if you can.
i understand your frustration with voting. i've wanted to vote for a third party for the past few cycles but here in nevada the dems keep the green party off the ballot through shenanigans. it's very frustrating! they did it again this year so i couldn't vote for jill stein like i wanted. for the third cycle i voted for "none of the above." however, i really wanted to vote for the ballot initiatives which, i think, are super important
your discussion of that paul tremblay book made me think of ghost story by peter straub which i am reading for my book club that meets this coming saturday. it had great reviews but i thought it was awful. and it was 500 pages long! i have no idea what people were thinking giving it four or five stars. smh
i did like death comes for the archbishop. as you said, it wasn't a "novel" so much as a series of....vignettes. nah, that's not the right word but i can't think what it might be. i really enjoyed the writing though. sometimes the narrative won't work for me but i enjoy the writing. does that ever happen to you?
i never heard of adam berry so never heard of goodbye hello either. sounds like i dodged a bullet. thanks for taking the hit on our behalf
oh, i wish i could join your book club! i've been wanting to start my own science fiction book club but i don't know that many readers who would be interested. choosing the stars my destination as your first book is inspired. it's sure to be a hit. the best of luck with it!
that smashed book sounded really interesting. how i wish i had more time to read! (work sucks) (also wish i had read that instead of ghost story. ugh, it was so bad)
don't forgive anyone?..... i like to think of forgiveness as being more for me than for the person i forgive. does that make sense?
imaro sounds SO interesting. i will definitely have to look that one up especially as you said the writing was good
still haven't gotten to fafhrd and the gray mouser. it's the same problem i keep having: i have a job that i have to go to. hate that!
i'm keeping an eye out for a copy of that ballard book but, damn, ballard books are hard to find and when i do find one they are too expensive for me. i'll keep looking
and then there's h.p. lovecraft. his stories do nothing for me. i'm just saying!
you are definitely doing better reading poetry and, honestly, how can you go wrong with emily dickinson. well done!
have a great week and until next time...

      hi friend
the best advice Ive gotten is that the dentist never thinks you're doing enough so dont take it so hard lol , i will keep going to my appointments and reaching for a healthy life.
sorry about you not being able to vote for who you wanted to. I can't believe anyone still believes we live in a democracy.
i did see you liked Death of the Archbishop on good reads, different strokes for different folk. to answer your question about books where the writing was good but i didnt enjoy the narrative the one that instantly pop into my head was parable of the sower, but ive said enough about that book already lol
Imaro, F&G , and Junji ito are so worth a try , next im gonna try to throw in a dying earth story in there and mixing up some horror that isnt Lovecraft, i found a best of john collier at my used book store and the cover is amazing. and your not wrong those Ballard books get pricey
im so worried no one will show up to my book club even though i already have people telling me they will show. i guess just like with my videos if i just be myself people will show up. life advice i wish i would have taken more seriously when i was younger.
When it comes to forgiveness i can see where you're coming from, i just think that people will abuse good people who want to forgive. theres so many shitty ppl out there that are getting away with literal murder.
im still smiling about the Electric hair line in Dickinson's poem, love it!
keep showing up to work, one of those kids are gonna look back and realize what a difference you made on them
Till next time Friend, Cheers 🕰
