Hey Sean. Effortless shave. When it comes to natural finishes. Jnat, coti, black shadow. Which one is your favorite? I mean if you have a favorite. Have a good rest of your week
I think it’s a tough battle between coticule and jnat for sure… the black shadow is an amazing finisher and the edge it produces it up there with the best but honing wise I have more fun with the other two stones. What about you my friend? If you had to pick one for the rest of your life which one would it be? I think I would go with jnat
@@Martins-Shaves123 Marti! Thank you for the kind words you always cheer me up! I still confuse some Japanese terms as well but hey I remember you making a video honing on a jnat not too long ago and you did awesome! Could I make a request to get another Martin test shave hones on jnat video?
@@WaxbellShaving I definitely know what you mean my friend, this week at work has been tough for me so not as many videos as usual but I get to watch everybody else put videos so that’s a plus hehe
Wow! That razor looks keen as hell. It got you close, and the shave looked effortless, it plowed thru the whiskers. Looked like you hit that one on the button. Now just see if you can duplicate it on another razor. Once you get some consistency, then start to tweak in baby steps. Great first go round with Mikawa Nagura.
I’m so happy with the bench stone and the mikawa they are so fun to use! Thanks for helping me pick them up my friend. What did you think of that thumbnail? I had a blast making it haha
Wow Sean! You shave quickly! I shave daily, and am very practiced, but if I went that quickly, my shave would be pretty rubbish. Great job! I started a video with you in mind. I'm honing my 2nd ERN razor with a Mikawa Asano progression on an Ozuku. Unfortunately, this eBay razor has issues with its steel. I stopped recording in order to go back and investigate the problems. I hope to finish it tomorrow.
Thank you so much Greg! I’m looking forward to that video, I always seem to learn something new each time I see one of your videos. Do you have any hunches what might be the issue with the razor? Cheers!
@@seanstapelfeld Either the temper was damaged at some point, or oxidation has worked its way into the edge, or both. In spots of the heel and toe, the razor won't hold an edge.
@@greggallant5058 it will definitely be an interesting video! I don’t know too much about oxidation or tempering but I’m sure you will give the best possible explanation for a newbie like me to understand. Thank you Greg!
Thank you Bill! Aqua Velva has grown on me, I wish we had the ice sport here in PR. Do you have any other recommendations other than aqua velva that you enjoy?
@@seanstapelfeld My most often used aftershave or splash is Brut which I started using 45+ years ago. For most of my life it was either Brut or what my dad used, Aqua Velva. Then I found the wet shaving hobby. Here in the Continental US, we are fortunate to have access to a multitude of sources for artisan soap makers who also supply accompanying aftershaves. I have more variety than I need of those. My guess is that these are less available there due to shipping restrictions on products containing alcohol. You could look around for a Barber’s supply there, that would likely carry more variety than you’d find in stores.
I found it for you haha you replied to our good friend Borb… thank you for the kind words Martin, we might not know all the terms but I remember you having an excellent honing sección with jnat not too long ago, I would ask politely requesting another Martin test shaves honing on jnat video if that’s possible
@seanstapelfeld2192 I'm old ,tired, and useless with keyboards and Internet . I'm expecting a razor in the post tomorrow ...I'll jnat edge it , and utube it .

I stand back in awe , wonderful shave techniques... I'll admit to being lost on the jnat terms . I'm a simple soul . 😌
