I just bought a 2006 STS. I was looking for how to reset radio. Because my radio in Spanish. But my battery keeps running down. The Mexican I bought from said the radio is the cause for my door locks being messed up which could be the anti thief system. The put a main cut off switch to stop the car down and not drain the battery. This is good to know an I will be letting our local dealer in on this information. I had a Mexican trying to switch radio back to English but he couldn’t figure it out
So my radio went out first then my and then my car wouldn't start and the key wouldn't come out the ignition either oh I forgot dementia it won't start in the morning but it starts in the afternoon are you suggesting that if I replace the radio that this affects the problem?????? And sometimes when I'm driving the theft lock comes on
When I first had problems with starting a car I used to it and I use some wires to get it started that worked the first day then the key got stuck I was able to get the key release from under the steering collar now the car starts when it wants to if it's really cold outside it doesn't but it'll start in the afternoon and now my theft lock signal is coming on and it wouldn't allow me to put the car in gear for about 30 minutes
@@essamalfi6433 It's so simple I wouldn't even make a video on it (weird for a Caddy!). You simply open the ash tray and the bottom, then you pull out at the surrounding trim panel (silver on this car), move your hands up the trim panel until you are pulling it out from the top as well. Once the trim is removed, there are just a series of exposed bolts and you remove those and then pull the stereo out after you disconnect the electrical connectors. It's been a while but I think it is that simple.
Removed just the OnStar fuse,and now no radio and no battery drain! Still searching for the OnStar module location. Like to pull the three plugs that operate the OnStar. Have a 2008 STS Cadillac.
Only with factory paid prog i think. Mine started to alarm again today with no reason. Nearest Cad guy with right tool 200 kms from home and as far as i know only he knows how, in Finland 😑
18 months 3 local mechanics and cars been in shop the last 8 wks and still no answers... Feeling disappointed and defeated.3 batteries alternator starter new wires 😡😡
New Alternator, battery, power steering pump, belts, both tensioners, still says not charging, and kills the battery, and then the car died. 06 STS 4.6. Also wire brushed all grounds.???????
This affected the 6 disc base radio on my 2007 STS V8. Replaced the radio and fixed the problem.
I've had the same issue with my 6 disc in my 05 v8, I just can't justify spending almost a grand getting it swapped

If you remove the fuse and just not use the radio will it still drain
Yes, This is how I stopped my battery drain on my 2002 Seville SLS. No radio, clock, or chimes.
