    Hi Brad, actually used this technique and finished my guitar a week or two ago. Amazing results! Couldn't be more happy. Would recommend it to anyone. It'll probably take you a little longer to get a level finish but it's defenitely worth it in my opinion!

    Hey Brad, those swirls left behind 100% came from the DA sanding. All it takes is a tiny speck of dirt or dust to cause those. I’m in the auto body business and I know those marks all too well. In the business we call those “piggly wigglies” lol. Anyway, if you ever see them again just wet sand them out by hand a little bit. Trying to compound them out isn’t worth it and you may end up burning through the clear coat. Another tip for you is, use a firm block or even a piece of a paint mixing stick to wrap your sandpaper around. This will help remove the peaks of the orange peel and will give you more of a perfectly flat glass finish. 3000 grit is my preferred grit to stop wet sanding at, it just makes the polishing that much easier. Compound on a wool pad will get you back to a high gloss the quickest and easiest, follow that up with a polish on a DA polisher to remove the compound/wool swirls and leave a flawless finish behind. Looking forward to more videos ✌️

    Ok so swirl marks in the finish can come from sanding in-between clear coats if you used paper that was anything under 600, also can be caused by not using clean sandpaper check both sides for particles also wore or overused DA pad...You can also use 1000 with a block and then go over with DA...if you think it's in the final top clear coat.. love the Flake and Color...

    Hi Brad, I'm going to do a paint job like this on one of my guitars. The one I have in mind is a Jackson performer that has a black paint job that's in good condition. No dings or dents only some minor scuff marks that you have to look hard to find. Being the paint job is good can I add the glitter to the first coat of clear or should I sand it down and start from scratch? Since I have no idea what clear is compatible with the paint Jackson used, I'm worried I'll use something that will not jive with what's on the guitar. Any advice would be appreciated very much! Thanks!! 😎🎸

    • @BradAngove
      @BradAngove  3 роки тому

      If it’s fully cured it probably won’t be an issue. Just sand what’s on there with some 600 grit so the new paint will stick, and then go ahead and put a lawyer of clear and add your glitter.

    On the note of micro fibre cloths, are they bad for polishing buffing and if so is a regular cotton shirt or something better to use? Ive been using microfibre for ever and can never get rid of swirls. Painting and paint correction is my weak spot...

    • @BradAngove
      @BradAngove  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, microfibre will scratch and leave swirls if you using for polishing. An old cotton shirt that has been through the dryer a few times is a better option.

Tried several coats of spray poly but ran out so I grabbed some of that glitter cleae coat you recommend in the thick clear coat video. Don't be so cheap with the polish that's where the swirls are coming from in my opinion. In the first 20 seconds the compound thins out on the pad and gets real hot in spots. And you need a faster polisher to heat up surface to soften it a bit then when you get finer grit it just screams over the surface giving you that mirror finish. Again just my thoughts. But you know speed can kill ya polishing isn't as easy as one would think. But that definitely is a trippy guitar 🎸 👍👍✌️😁
