I used to go here with my mates playing hide and seek in the early 80s . We always called it bupa and it was never locked up or had and info there , it was just a ruin . Great days ...thanks for your informative vid
I went here last weekend with my partner and son. It was a lovely sunny Bank Holiday Saturday. Apparently there were several thousand people queuing to get up Pen y fan but we literally had this place to ourselves. What a little gem. Really interesting. I loved the old names carved into the stonework. I only knew about the place thanks to your video so thanks for that 👍
Great video in Wales I enjoyed it can't wait to see more soon. The castle looks beautiful and historical. Your live videos are always enjoyable. Have a great day 😀 greetings from Canada
Your truly the king of that castle shame you didn’t get any servants to bring you some mead and a pie such grandu a very special place for so many long ago ,the effort that was made on the building
These castles have a similar pattern of more primitive stonework being laid on top of finely cut large stones like we see in Peru with the Inca and mayans.
@@flydriveexplore Yes I know but one can access what the the size and quality of the kitchen facilities were. Raglan Castle has the remains of a superb kitchen, Abergavenny nothing.
@@flydriveexplore I thought there might have been something similar to the attached but, perhaps, on a smaller scale. Pity there isn't. ua-cam.com/video/l0yMJM-jTLo/v-deo.html
The current name does sound French but I'm sure I've read it has mutated over the years from a much more Welsh sounding name like Bewpyr or Bewpire or somthing. If I can find where I read it, I'll post back. (Marcus alludes to it in the video)

Given my last name Beaupre' I've always wanted to visit.

Thanks, glad it brought back some happy memories.

I saw some of the pics from Pen Y Fan. Yes, this place is definitely a hidden gem.
I need to visit this one day as I am a Beaupre
Thank you for a very interesting video. Be safe.
Thank you, we will
Hi Marcus and Mel.
Great video in Wales I enjoyed it can't wait to see more soon. The castle looks beautiful and historical. Your live videos are always enjoyable. Have a great day 😀 greetings from Canada
Glad you enjoyed it
I've really enjoyed this, thank you so very much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@flydriveexplore I would love to see you explore Llanarth and Lampeter area. That's where my family are from!
Keep up the good work.
@@andreyaplatia735 We may get around to it. That area isn't that far away from us and we are trying to make at least one video a week.
Very interesting video I will have to visit 😀
You should if you get the chance
Been waiting for you to get there. It's a well hidden gem for sure.
Yep, second time lucky for this one.
Your truly the king of that castle shame you didn’t get any servants to bring you some mead and a pie such grandu a very special place for so many long ago ,the effort that was made on the building
Servants - That's Mel's job when I return to my home castle in the Kingdom of Porthcawl. (I hope she doesn't read this!)
THAT PLACE IS AWESOME M&M ALWAYS GREAT YOU SHOW THE WALES NOT MANY GET TO SEE , STILL FREEZING HERE AND ALMOST A FOOT OF SNOW , TAKE CARE FOLKS
Thanks, we haven't had snow for years - just wet and windy!
A superb Vid about a 17th C Mansion(I think), very interesting, keep it up.
Cheers
What a great place
It is 👍
never seen this one before.
It is not that hard to find but somehow not very well known. I didn't know about it until last year.
I would dearly love to live there. At the moment a wild camp sleepover will have to do.
The section of the castle next door is still a private house. I don't think it's cheap!
Very informative video-I'd never heard of the place. As to going into old buildings you might need Bupa.
You may be right!

Another interesting video Marcus, will have to meet for a coffee on the front.
Thanks, yes that would be good.

@@taffystravelvideos That's fine, see you there
I'm very interested in going there someday and visit this castle which has my name.
Interesting name, I'm not sure where it comes from. You may have a claim!
Thank you. However, I am interested in the logistics of catering for such a large house so why did you not show us the kitchen(s)? Regards, Veronique.
They are ruins.

The name of the castle almost has a French connotation.

Great vid as usual but please, lay off the politics we come here for a bit of sanctuary.
Politics, really - just having a bit of a laugh whatever your political persuasion. If you can't have a laugh, well what a grim place it would be.
