I was quite surprised that the Phantom 4 pro has the blade showing in the camera footage. I was looking to run a business using the Phantom 4 pro but now I am aware the blade show I am looking elsewhere. I wonder if DGi has an alternative model that does not show the blades. . Do you happen to know if a solution to this , post editing maybe or a different lense or maybe a different model
The idea is to get the controller on first as that has to boot on the P4P V2.0. Get the drone on, then start connecting the smartphone. I put the phone on the Mavic 2 controller first before starting it. Then I turn the drone on because there are no boot delays. It's pretty much instant once you turn them on.

You shouldn't time something with a 'count down' timer that starts at 100 seconds. You should have used a 'count up' timer that starts at zero seconds.
I think too many drone flyers overlook the Phantom Pro 4+ as it has a built-in monitor which is a true 1080p. It is so solid and a breeze to get started compared to always needing a cell phone or tablet attached. So bright the screen can even be viewed in bright sunlight. Plus one never has to be concerned if the cell phone or tablet is charged. Everything charges with the remote control.
For the startup sequence... 1. Controller 2. Drone 3. Connect the phone 4. App You want to turn the drone on as fast as possible as it can start to search for satellites. That's where most of your time went when you set up the P4P.
Probably should have powered it up first to get satellite signals while propeller put on last. Just makes more sense if you go for signal first while assembly is taking place.
I’ve just came back from a trip with my mavic pro. Fantastic drone, really good in different conditions and the highlight was carrying it everywhere in a backpack. I’m sure I wouldn’t have the same flexibility with the phantom.
Mick Harrison not the mavic wins easy to put in the air any were it's so quit when it's high up no one can see it and it takes great videos and photos the fantom 4 pro is so dam loud you can only use it in places were no one can. See it or hear it to dam loud
I've used both of these drones for a while and the Phantom 4 Pro does have higher quality video and pictures but as far as flying the Phantom doesn't seem to be any better, it's heavier but because of the shape it seems to be just as affected by wind.

The phantom is just prettier looking. It’s glossy body is just beautiful. 4. Portability isn’t a big issue for me, but I can’t stand mavic owners losing their crap over portability and saying how much better the mavic is because of how smaller it is. Can all of us drone owners just get along?

My phantom 4 pro has never dropped like yours, I think that you messed up the magnetic compass when you first put them so close to each other . When that happens you should fix the compass. The weight of the Phantom really works better when flying over the lake as you are constantly dealing with the wind. It was a good video but the Phantom 4 was not working correctly in your test. REDO
+Coal Akida Thanks for that. Compass could be an issue. Also thinking maybe the direction the wind was coming from, it was mixing with the mavics and just make a strange flying environment.

You had some interesting comparisons. The stability test was flawed in my opinion. Being so low to the ground and proximity to each other - prop wash was definelty a factor. And they aren't going to kill you man. No slashing. I accidentally put my thumb in the blades of a landing Mavic in my hand - typing with it now, and miraculously still alive!
The ultrasonic down sensor of the P4 won't work well on grass and moving air has a slightly lower pressure which tricks the barometric altimeter into thinking the drone is rising when really it is the air pressure reducing. The down-looking camera is good for lateral stability but not vertical stability.
FYI, you don't need to open the props on the mavic. Centrifugal force will open the props on its own. I personally liked the more contrasty and true color from the mavic vs the p4 in the video side by side.
I noticed you don’t use the gimbal bracket with your mavic. My friend is the same. Do you think it really needs that on when transporting. I’m definitely walking with it in the book bag.
Great video, very helpful comparison. I have been trying to decide between the two. Question on video. It seemed that the P4P showed the propellers in the video during the distance test whereas the P3 did not. Was there a reason that the propellers were seen in the P4P video? Thanks!
May have been mentioned already, but.... it's my understanding you should 'hover' at the take-off point for a few seconds, to allow the drone to map and store the home-point. Also, I have been told the RC antennae should be perpendicular to the drone location. Little issues, admittedly. Good review!!

Glad you liked it. Get the Phantom 4 Pro if you want slightly better battery, better image quality, slightly better speed, and more sensors. If none of that matters, or you want a really compact, but good drone, get the Mavic.
I thought the P4 pro had a built in display incorporated with the controller, or is that an upgrade option? Great real world empirical comparison of the two drones.
If you turn on the drone before the rc you risk the drone thinking it has lost signal. It could takeoff on its own and fly to its set return to home hieghth. It will then simply auto land but most people freak out and do something rash and cause a crash. ALWAYS start the controller FIRST!!
I've definitely heard this over and over. Have you actually seen this happening with more recent DJI offerings? I've occasionally turned on the drone first by accident and nothing has ever happened.
There might be a reason your phantom is flying around without you touching the control sticks. It could be the IMU that needs to be recalibrated. Uncalibrated IMU can make it shaky. It can happen without the drone givning you a warning. I recommend you to calibrate it and then try again to see if its moving again.
Hah. Well other than the Inspire 2, but that is more so a prosumer/professional drone. Not really in the same league. That is next on my list...but by the time I'm ready to get it / can afford it, I'm sure the Inspire 3 will be out.
I got a phantom 4 I saved for over a year it was my first flight I took off got to about 50 foot a the drone shot off like a rocket on its own and disappeared I was gutted I nearly cry all that money down the drain . What did I do wrong. Bryan
Go4app could of saved you. There’s a find my drone feature, it shows the gps position of where it is exactly. You can also beep the ESC’s and blink the LED’s once In the general area so you can hear or see it.
not required but i've read that keeping them folded buts unneeded stress on the motors. however if I was trying to do it for speed I should have left them unfolded.

Devention tahli h500 drone seems to be the best drone I’ve sighted since the old beebop from officeworks for $500 approximately where the devention is worth more around the price mark of $5000 dollars to buy one so I’ve been told, how true that is I’m not sure but if it’s true the tahli h500 is expensive for a drone just to fly around and record things!
Return to home was spot on like that with my Phantom. After a few months it quit the pin point returns and would just land where ever it was upon initiation of RTH. I have no idea why other than the poor old girl has done some bush trimming (no hard crashes). Not sure what happened.
I travel 1-2 a year by car I would probably film most the time in my home city should I get the phantom due to its better camera? I can get either used for the same price

Mildly, I dream about such drones for six years since that company "DJI" became, but I will not have the opportunity to do it. I'd like to get one of these drones. :) But it does not matter mostly video is great. :)

Yeah I wish I would have seen the DJI monitor when I ordered mine bc the monthly would have been a few dollars more instead of a sep invoice for 50 or close to it more a month. I hope that made sense. But yes and the iPad if its out of airplane mode since this new DJI apps update it over loads my CPU. Also makes the ipad2 mini get roasting hot now

Nolan Burton the last firmware update seemed to be when the mini2 started having issues but I've discovered putting it in airplane mode solved that lag issue

Phantom 4 is best of them. I own bouth and I sold bouth. Phantom 4 is stronger 4 cell can fly In more Wind. I like It better than Mavic. Today have 2 drone Inspire 1 and Spark Combo.
Nice drones you have there. Fills two niches of professional use and grab and go fun use. A mavic or phantom 4 would fill the gap between them though... but might be a little unnecessary.
Great video of how not to fly drones! Pick a windy day, fly near trees and power lines. Fly out of sight, fly in in the rain, fly it at yourself. Any more bad examples?

For the price of the + you could get a M1P with a crystalsky display.

yeah definitely. doesnt need cell connection. you can connect to wifi do to updates from time to time.

Image quality is paramount for me but the Mavic does seem more stable; much less cross-section to wind.

N'th DEGREE AERIAL PERSPECTIVES it won't do that if you don't engage the props first so don't do it.

Devention tahli h500 drone seems to be the best drone I’ve sighted since the old beebop from officeworks for $500 approximately where the devention is worth more around the price mark of $5000 dollars to buy one so I’ve been told, how true that is I’m not sure but if it’s true the tahli h500 is expensive for a drone just to fly around and record things!

You're suppose to let it hover around 30 feet over the pad for 20 seconds or so if you want to use the vision position landing.

Return to home was spot on like that with my Phantom. After a few months it quit the pin point returns and would just land where ever it was upon initiation of RTH. I have no idea why other than the poor old girl has done some bush trimming (no hard crashes). Not sure what happened.
You domino need to open the props like that. They spin open for you when the Magic starts.. I use to do that too

Mildly, I dream about such drones for six years since that company "DJI" became, but I will not have the opportunity to do it. I'd like to get one of these drones. :) But it does not matter mostly video is great. :)

I love my Galaxy S8 because the brightness is really good. Shame it doesn't work well.
Yeah I wish I would have seen the DJI monitor when I ordered mine bc the monthly would have been a few dollars more instead of a sep invoice for 50 or close to it more a month. I hope that made sense. But yes and the iPad if its out of airplane mode since this new DJI apps update it over loads my CPU. Also makes the ipad2 mini get roasting hot now

Nolan Burton the last firmware update seemed to be when the mini2 started having issues but I've discovered putting it in airplane mode solved that lag issue

Phantom 4 is best of them. I own bouth and I sold bouth. Phantom 4 is stronger 4 cell can fly In more Wind. I like It better than Mavic. Today have 2 drone Inspire 1 and Spark Combo.
Nice drones you have there. Fills two niches of professional use and grab and go fun use. A mavic or phantom 4 would fill the gap between them though... but might be a little unnecessary.
How many decibels louder is the Inspire 1? Did you go with the Inspire because of the better video quality?
