    i like that they subtly state that in a normal 3 set game, Karasuno would've basically been blown out.
    also, the women's final in last years olympics that was a 5 set went for over 2 and a half hours. if that gives a hint on how long these kids of games can go.

      A high school game is likely to take longer. At the highest level, points are scored very quickly. I think at hs level, the rallies are usually longer, and there's more back and forth

    Never fails to crack me up how the third set barely exists at all :"D Furudate really said "I need to get to the good stuff let's just scroll a bit"
    A small note: when Reon said that the coach counted on Goshiki the most, he wasn't really lying (much like he said later)! Goshiki does have a lot of potential, ntm he's the only 1st year in the starting line-up.
    Touching the net at any point during a rally is against the rules and gives the point to your opponents.
    On Oikawa's glasses - there's a backstory about that in the light novel, where Oikawa was in a shop mulling over Seijou's loss to Karasuno. He accidentally eavesdropped on some girls talking about presents, realized again that this loss is not the end of his career or anything, and then accidentally thanked the girls out loud. He ended up impulsively getting those glasses while trying to dig himself out of that awkward situation x)
    And I've definitely said this before but!! Still loving the music appreciation :"D Haikyuu OSTs are absolutely insane

    To add a bit and clarify Shirabu's backstory on Middle School since you had doubts, once you finish MS you can choose to go to a different HS (for example Karasuno is only a HS so everyone that studies there transfered from other schools after graduating MS, and Shiratorizawa has both so that's why Ushijima was already studying there and didn't need to change). So after seeing Ushijima play and deciding he wanted to go to Shiratorizawa he worked his butt off studying because he didn't get an offer for a sports scholarship and the Academy's entrance exam is really tough (the one Kageyama failed). Now he has the top scores of his class and is the only one in the starting lineup that didn't get in through sports scholarship.

    One set usually lasts for something like 20 to 30 minutes, because every point can last like 3 seconds (an ace) to 30/40 seconds for a long rally. Add time-outs, little pauses after every point and before service, plus the time between sets. So a 3 sets match is like 1 hour, a 5 sets match can last 2 hours. Big matches with sets exceeding 25 points can last 3 hours nowadays, with the challenge/video check/instant replay

    A set to 25 points might take around 30 minutes or more, depending on how close the scores are. So, to win with 3 straight sets might take under 2 hours, but for a whole game with 5 sets, and close scoring within those sets, might actually approach 4 hours

    I'm of course impressed with Ushijima, since he always fights with his power, but it really doesn't make sense that he doesn't try other attacks. He could switch it up and be even more difficult to deal with, rather than the opposing team always correctly expecting a powerful spike

    • @narendharan7859
      @narendharan7859 2 роки тому +9

      Practically 98% of spikers cannot see the blocks as clear as Hinata does... Even Ukai says it.. people can only see glimpses of the block in real life at that speed! Since the show is heavily trying to be real.. no other spikers can see the blocks so far.. even Nakashima from Wakunan only hits spikes with angles.. even Bokuto cant see blocks as clear as Hinata! Hence, explains why Ushijima relies on his power.. but he is extremely skilled in spiking techniques as well, his straight and cross spikes are insane..!!
      There aren't many attacks a WS can do.. since they don't do quicks with the right side often..! Only Center does quicks.. so Ushijima always gets basic setup to his position (right side WS) which he enhances with his skill & power!
      With the restriction that the setter's position only allows the setter to give basic high tosses to the right side.. Ushijima can only do limited techniques!
      But if he were to play left WS (Asahi or Tanaka position) or center as MB.. that would be interesting since he would have to participate in quicks!

      @@narendharan7859 wow! That’s for the explanation. But I (knowing about volleyball only bc of this anime) thought why he didn’t do feints more often. Specially when they were doing the tunnel technique
      I’m sure there’s a reason why but let me know what you think

    • @narendharan7859
      @narendharan7859 2 роки тому +4

      @@gracesenzano396 It's true he could have used feint more since he uses it only once.. but feint is probably the most easily picked spike technique there is! (It's the same with badminton) That's why spikers (players) prefer to use strong spikes (smashes in case of badminton) more often... Since it has more probability of scoring!
      Also when facing teams with strong receivers such as Daichi or Noya or Yaku.. feints don't usually work..!
      Feint concept is same as setter dumps.. its extremely satisfying when it works but practically it only works if it's used once or maximum twice in a game..! So it's advisable to go for combinations or quicks (in Ushiwaka's case a strong straight or cross) for better chance at scoring

    • @narendharan7859
      @narendharan7859 2 роки тому +3

      @@gracesenzano396 P.S. they don't run the tunnel technique on every play.. and also tunnel technique still gives the setter a C pass or B pass.. which makes their counter/attack more easier to read & block!
      But if he feints.. the ball will be picked up by a B pass close to the net.. opening up options for a quick on the second touch more often!
      So it's more beneficial to go with strong spikes often.. cuz even if opposition soft blocks it and receives it.. the formation would be off and the set will be on third touch most times.. which gives better blocking chances!
      Hope this explanation is more clarifying

    Each set averages about 25 minutes. The fifth set averages about 15. So a full 5 set match is 1 hour and 55 minutes.
    In this match, the second set was probably longer but first and third sets were shorter. Still, they’ve likely been at this over 1 hour by then.
