Your Wrong About The Key,It would turn if it was the same, the rfid chip just does the alarm in the door and immobiliser in the ignitionAlso VW would get crucified if they did that !, would mean anyone with a vw key can get in your car and rob whatever they want.
The keys are laser cut which means that they can look exactly the same but will have very slight variations in the cuts to make them unique to your vehicle and more secure. This of course makes them very expensive to replace.
I have an mk5 jetta and with the wipers on highest setting when you come to a stop they will automatically reduce their speed and continue to highest setting once the car is moving again.
I used to have a peugeot and when you turned the key to start the engine, nothing would happen.. Pretty quirky I guess...

Every single thing you said about the VW key is incorrect.
-The key cuts are NOT all the same.
-All NA cars ( not just VW) use 315Mhz radios but each has a unique ID

If you look at where the windshield washer jets are there is a small screw next to each jet which allows you to aim the spray pattern of the washer fluid. If you have a euro spec gti that is equipped with headlight washers every time you wash your windshield with your headlights turned on the headlight washers will come out and spray washer fluid on your headlights. If you have your head lights turned off the headlight washers will come out after every 5 or 6 windshield washes. Some US spec mk5 gti's are equipped with the headlight washers but have the fuse for them removed from the factory, if you replace the fuse the headlight washers will work (if equipped). You can reset the service reminder message by holding the 0.0 trip reset button while you turn the ignition to the on position then press the M button and the service reminder will reset and dissappear. Repeat the process right away and the message will return. The mk5 gti actually has a heat/ac vent in the glove box and in the center console. Not sure why though 😁. You can reprogram the keyless entry on your mk5 gti original keys by being outside the range of the remote and pressing the lock/unlock buttons 5-6 times, then unlock the car with the physical key and insert it into the ignition and turn it to the on position and it will self program the keyless entry. Immobilizer chip must match the vehicle, you can't program a replacement keyless remote this way.

I used to have an E90 3 series, and it was the same with the wipers.
The wiper thing though, never knew about that. I have an 09 in the same spec as yours. Love your wheels by the way.
The cutout in the key is not common to all VW's. You can insert it into another golf but it won't turn, meaning there is a mechanical check besides the transponder communication.
Dhiren Naidoo The mk5 gti remote key is a 2 piece key. I removed the top physical key portion of my friends key and put it together with my remote base and unlocked my car no problem at all. The key cut pattern matched exactly between his key and mine. We put his key back together and tried it in my car and no unlock. You can purchase replacement keyless shells with the physical key included to freshen up a key in bad shape. It does nothing until you put your original keyless internals in it, then it works fine.

the key fob should work to roll the windows up and down
My sun roof would not close and I found this one out. If you put the sunroof knob in the close position and push on the little line on the knob it will bypass the safety pinch feature and force close the sunroof.
I have an MKVII. I'm still saddened that they removed the knob. It was an ingenious design and I'd rather use that method to open/close the sunroof. They switched back to the old sliding switch like all the other boring cars out there! One thing that still irritates me the most is that they removed the hold function that rolls up the windows. I have to get back in the car and switch the ignition on to close all the windows. Car is still under warranty so I'll have to wait before I buy a mod to make it do that. Just ridiculous of VW to delete that. Also, they no longer put headlamp washers. I wanted them badly but the MK VII series doesn't have them at all.
it's only on xenon headlights option, and the mk7 does have it.
I was so confused on how to get my wipers up when I changed them a couple weeks ago, this will definitely come in handy next time they need replacing!
Just saying, you can lift the wipers up.. Literally just did it because its going to snow. You slide them with your hand up, and the lift them.
That wiper thing is in the manual, so obviously not many knew about it, because for some unknown reason, they don't read their owners manual... :P Guys, always read your owners manual! You'll know more about the car you own if you do, and you should know more.
Saw another video about the glove box. He had a switch in his glove box that keeps anything cool as long as the ac is on. Like chocolate bars or soda or anything you don’t want melting when you aren’t ready to eat it or drink it.
Good video but I'd say look at the lens not the LCD screen

Didn’t know how to put up Windscreen wiper till now and earlier today I just changed the wipers and accidentally scratched the paint on the bonnet trying to lift the wipers😂
Thanks! Ha! I don’t know the wiper blade trick. I can raise my wiper blades next time I was the car. Also, I have a similar problem with the cars Bluetooth connectivity. If I’m in and out of the car it takes a couple minutes to reconnect to my music on my phone. I turned the volume and it come right on!

I got so excited when i could hold down a button to open and close windows! Had a good laugh with that one!

When you turn off your with your headlights off and turnsignal on your parking light in which direction is turnsignal points to lights up. With other side turned off. Thats quirky
I have a mk5 r32. And when I select reverse, the mirrors automatically dip so that I don't kerb my wheels when parking. Always thought that was an amazing feature that many current cars don't have
idk if that first one is true they aren’t all the same i have a service key and it starts the car without a chip in it. plus if your key battery dies then you wouldn’t be able to open it and start it.
Maserati does the same thing with the windshield Wipers. So weird.

I have a 2000 vw gti vr6 and whenever I close the hood the horn beeps, horn doesn't work when I hit the steering wheel though ;-;
sailortrash55 , if it’s like the MK5, you actually have two horns, 1 for the alarm, which beeps when your doors and hatch are locked, and your normal horn via your steering wheel🙂. But you say it happens when you close the hood? Curious.
Just bought one yesterday and I didn't know how to open the trunk 🤣🤣
as a mk5 jetta owner I agree with most of these quirks, kinda wish I had the same trunk mechanism for my car though as yours eli 😅

My 2006 golf tdi has a tiny sun visor above the rear view mirror.
they only have one reverse light :o

The 1 thing I had about my GTI is you do t really have control of the air vents. It's just up and down.

not sure if this applies to the mk5: 1, little holder for your gas cap, 2, the sun visors slide out, 3, hooks for grocery bags in trunk
and of course the back up camera that pops out from where you open the trunk, and the subwoofer hidden in the spare tire

Another quirky feature is if you play country music in a GTI the motor tends to get rod knock.

Frequencies aren’t all the same
I have a mk6 gti which come from the factory with bluetooth. But if I don't Have my phones bluetooth on before I turn on the car, it won't connect to the bluetooth system to play music no matter what phone I've tried using hahaha. Not sure if its just mine but its actually pretty annoying.
if you go to bluetooth setting on the display, it should say something like ""could not find device" i think you just press cancel and press connect to ____ its not going to keep looking for bluetooth if it didnt find it the first time.

i have a 2004 Mazda RX-8, if you unplug your battery when you turn on the car your traction control, ABS, and power steering will be off and then you have to put the car on Accessory, turn the steering wheel to the left all the way, then right all the way, then center the steering wheel, take the key out, put the key back in and turn it on, then everything is back to normal

The keys are unique to car lol
VW 3bg/ b5.5 small sunshade on front of dome lights, little slots on the gas cap, pushing in the head light switch to remove, steering wheel light with indicater light, cooler glove box, micro switch puddle lights, turn key in the door for Windows up and down exc.
Quirky things about the RAV4, actually any all wheel drive car, be prepared to replace the tires every 1.5 to 2 years. All wheel drive means all wheels are moving and it eats tires up faster, to the point where tire rotation doesn't really help.
Very nice looking car. Dealer has not been very professional with me. Lock wiring an issue. Clutch has gone on mine. Anti lock brake sensor rusted and blew out in wheel, expensive. Rear hatch wiring breaks and everything stops working in hatch.

The key going into the different car doesn't mean it's the same key. They should be different cuts, all keys of the same type (Honda, Toyota, even house keys like Kwikset) will go into the same hole, but the pins in the locks are what makes it different. If you compare the groves, you'll find them to be different.

Ever wonder how you can clean your front lights? Turn car on put the lights on and pull the windshield wipers and your lights get cleaned with soap.
Is there something special you have to do to get the key to roll the windows up and down because I have a 2007 gti and I cant get it to do that. Dose it have to be hot out?

Something I know that is Mk4 specific: We have three sunvisors. Drivers, passengers, and one in the middle that blocks the gap between the rear view mirror and the ceiling.
I own a MK6 GTI....and not sure if this is true with the MK5s or not. But upon first glance there are no key holes on the exterior of the car. Only until you pry that little cover off that is at the back end of the door handle, using the key (as theres a perfect sized hole that fits your key on the underside), do you see a place to unlock or lock the car using a key only. Perfect for when people ask you how can you unlock your car when your key fob battery dies.
The keys are cut differently. I have 7 VWs and each of their keys are cut differently. You can still turn your key with a bad immobilizer, the car will start and then die.
I still can't get over how clean your wheels look in every video:) it's quite the perfect stance for the gti

If you want to drive with your headlights completely dark (DRLs off) put your ebrake up to the first click. Mkv Jetta
My Scrirocco dosent have that to open the back, have to push the button on the key or a button on the drivers door... most irritating thing ever 😅
So if you change the computer box and use a key that has been chipped or coded for that computer box in another would it start?
I had no idea how to turn off the rear wipers the first time I accidentally turned them on. Lol. Not sure if it's a VW thing or a car thing. I had a truck before the GTI so it was new to me.
WatchThisPlay sometimes I turn my gti on and the rear wiper also starts for no reason lol so I ram into a tree in reverse and that usually fixes it
If you have your front wipers on and car in reverse, it automatically starts the rear wipers too.

Yes. Every golf has that. At least European ones, but it should be the same in the USA.
Start your car, turn on front wipers, put your car in reverse and it automatically wipes the back window too.

Nah if you have friends like mine they force them up in the down position and destroy the paint on the edge of the bonnet near the bottom of the windscreen 😤

I can put my old cobalt key in my Grandmas G6 but it won't unlock or start it.

my father's GTI has a mode that when it is night and you unlock it the lights automaticaly switch on
you should make a trip to the wookies in the woods meet in April next year with all the r32s n golf Rs
so many of these apply to my '08 Passat. No one ever knows how to open the trunk in my car lol.

Lol you're doing it wrong, lifting up the wipers like that. You don't have to turn on the car and turn on the wipers. You can just manually slide them a up a bit then they'll just fold up like any other car. I do it all the time when I wash my GTI. Go ahead, try it.
***** hmmm.. I've done it dozens and dozens of times over the years. Never had a problem, my wipers work 100% fine.

I have an '02 Jetta 1.8t and the only thing I really don't understand is how VW decided to put only two cup holders in the entire car. Five seats, two cup holders...
there should be two more in the back seat arm rest. meaning, you can only hold four people and still use the rear cup holders.

Something quirky about mk3s is that the obd2 port is behind a little plastic panel to the right of the ash tray, and you have pull the ash tray out and slide the panel off. There's a car insurance commercial (progressive?) with a mk3 golf where they reach under the dash on the drivers side to plug an obd2 reader in. It kind makes me laugh but kind of gets on my nerves every time I watch it. I wonder if they could just never find it or if they thought it'd just be easier to pretend it's where every other car has it.
Also, my mk3 Jetta never came with a glove box, which is pretty inconvenient.
Is the window thing a vagcom mod or does it come with the car?
