I just did this Memorial Day weekend 2024. Very pleasant, especially on the outside viewing car, but would not do again. $540 for 3 people to ride in the Vista Dome w/ lunch. (Tips are included, so that's the final price.)
Just seemed like a lot of money. The drive down from Divide to Canon City was far more beautiful than anything we saw on the train ride.

It does seem nice and like u said a one time thing but wow almost 600 so much more u could have done and alot more fun like the zip line white water the silverton train pikes peak cog railway etc etc .. I checked today and the cheapest one was like 125 dollars so no thanks lol ..
I was so looking forward to this ride in May of 2021. But the engine on the train we were going to take had problems. Stood outside for around an hour and a half on a cold drizzly day. Ended up just going and getting our money back. Was so disappointed. Going back to try it again this May. Hope it's problem free this time.

Is the food included in the price of the ticket, or is that seperate?
Spent 330$ for a family of three. 3 years ago I spent 100$ for a family of three. The price gauging is terrible
It has me second guessing my trip in October. But, I’m in Florida….its no different than Disney or any of the other tourist based crooks
The Royal Gorge Route Railroad runs on the former Denver & Rio Grande Western rail line that was started back way in 1879. It now runs these old fleet of diesel locomotives.

We’re 90% sure we remember not having cell service or Wi-Fi on the train & the Canon City area . We were busy videoing, but I don’t think there was much service out there. Hope you have a great time! Cheers! 🍻

First off, it's Canon City, not Canyon City. Its a nice ride, but if you ride it don't pay for food, just the ride part.
Agree. The outdoor viewing car was where we spent the whole trip after the lunch service and it was by far the most enjoyable part. Food on the train was good, but nothing special. Cheeseburger, chips and a beer for $30.
If I were to do this again, I'd buy the cheapest seats, eat beforehand and plan to spend most of the trip in the open air car.
Just did the Durango to Silverton train. Do it if you haven't. Way better.

We did this train and then drove Pikes Peak ourselves for little cost.
We preferred being in our own car.

i thought this was vlog about the gorge; its mostly about eating...
It’s about the whole train ride experience, and on the train ride, you can look around at the gorge and …eat 😎 that’s pretty much all there is to do.
