Happened all the time at my previous workplace. They encouraged employees to report corruption, unethical conduct, bullying etc but it was not anonymous. They'd tell the accused employee who reported them which would undoubtedly cause issues, especially if the accused is a junior/middle manager. Sometimes upper management just don't think.

I was a supervisor and the warehouse manager on a HUGE salary would bail early EVERY day and do like 25-30 hours a week. Had money to turn his single story house into DOUBLE story, AND buy a new Audi WHILE paying child support ALL in the same year. Meanwhile he dumped me to run the place HALF the opening hours, AND do freight processing on a rubbish laptop AND keep driving the forklift due to CONSTANT staff turnover. @Humblecapricorn86 it's not just about replacing the weaks. The people in the uttermost power aren't trying to reach out to their people. For example, a ruler that only stays in his castle knows nothing about his people, compare to the ruler that sneaks out in casual clothing and joins the normal plebs. So many rulers that only want to enjoy luxuries in their castles, being lazy and fat, but very few would go out of their ways to relearn the hierarchy of the society.
Those in power positions that care not of their people are tyrants as they treat their workers nothing more than slaves. The ones in power that understand the people will gain loyalties, and the ones that don't have any loyalties will be killed by scorpions and snakes.

Cross-training is a joke. It is an attempt to make a single worker do the job of two. Think of every time you've been cross-trained and a fellow employee calls out. You get to do their job 'as best you can' but you still get penalized for making mistakes while doing your job and still get penalized for mistakes. At first, it seems tough. But as people continue to call out, you end up getting good at doing 2 people's jobs. Then they pull you aside and offer you something nominal because it's all they can afford and tell you that you can earn that extra dollar an hour by being willing to take up the responsibilities of that other position. When really, you are doing 2 jobs you should be getting paid twice as much. But eventually, you tire of it all. And despite knowing it is 2 jobs you are doing, management continues to add things to your duties. And they are not longer in that honeymoon previous employee was calling out phase. Nope. It is all your job now. And when it gets busy and you inevitably flounder, they get on your like you are being lazy. And you think to yourself "Well, what the fuck? My GM knows this was 2 jobs 3 months ago." It all turns sour. And you quit. Then the next person they hire starts the position already thinking this is a 1 person job. And duties are added as the business goes on. And then you get these job posts like this one on reddit: www.reddit.com/r/PLC/comments/11aemyi/another_ridiculous_job_posting/
But yeah, go ahead and fucking cross-train away!

I honestly wonder if he should promote the one with the best work ethic, good attitude and the one willing to pitch in when the going gets rough. The two ladies do not seem to be fond of each other, which is fine, however, they've got to get along in order to make the company thrive. If not, the company is going to sink. Think of the company as a fine tuned watch. If one piece doesn't work, the whole thing shuts down and we don't want that. That means NO ONE HAS A JOB AND WHEN NO ONE HAS A JOB, NO ONE HAS AN INCOME. They all have to see past each other differences and see the goal of the company. The company could make incentives for the employees. Employees love get togethers. Or prizes or gifts like a paid day off or monetary gifts for reaching a goal. Sometimes that even brings employees together. The get togethers must include spouses. And if it's a picnic gathering, families should be included as well. Employees want to feel like they belong. They don't want to feel like they just go to work and collect a paycheck and go home. They want to feel valued. Like a valued family member. That's how to retain employees, especially GREAT EMPLOYEES WHO ARE RELIABLE IN THE LONG TERM. AND THAT'S HOW YOUR COMPANY WILL GROW. Employees also have great ideas that can help your company grow. A lot of people that you least expect are super smart. They just didn't have the money to go to school or they ran around with the wrong crowd and got into trouble and a lot had broken families and weren't given a great direction in life and had to figure it out on their own and it wasn't the best. Those people are often extremely intelligent and have a lot of great ideas. So, never judge a book by it's cover. You never know what kind of gem you have working for you and listen to them. Everyone is a person and it's worthwhile to lend an ear. They are your bread and butter. ❤

The supervisor cannot be a good supervisor unless she can humble herself to show the worker on a personal one to one level that she cares and values her and respects her. How can one be a leader if he or she cannot truly serve. Guarantee the supervisor will get great workers for teamwork if supervisors would have a nicer attitude towards "lower" individuals. A lot of fastfood employees come from bad situations and bad choices in lifestyles, but need some care and compassion and encouragement to better themselves. Have a "worker picnic" and family day to get to know each other and have some fun together. Bingo - better business

I've noticed that happens a lot in places like the bank and the post office. The managers/supervisors don't (can't?) do any of the basic work. I was at the post office and the supervisor was asking people in line if they needed anything such as buying stamps or picking up their mail. Of course, most people had packages, etc. they needed to get out. The supervisors should be able to step in and help in any capacity if the line is getting long. Same thing at the bank. The manager was looking at people in the long line and saying, "Does anyone need help using the ATM?" Obviously not. LOL!

We can't leave our station and disconnect from it until we balance all of our stuff when the shift is over. Then someone would be able to get onto that computer. It's weird from the outside. You not only squandered an opportunity to develop higher level behaviors in both of those employees, you violated confidences and turned them against each other. Not only did you lose the respect of the whistleblower, you outted her to the supervisor. You just empowered the supervisor to bully the whistleblower who no doubt will quit asap. And now you’ve given her tacit permission for that supervisor to be a loose cannon, because she knows you have her back. Just stop what you’re doing and call me - I can easily get you to understand what leadership is really about, and how to get there. And if I can’t, then you don’t belong there.
