    Excellent repair technology, even the GY6 motorcycle engine can be repaired.

      GY6 is relative easy to repair because there is not much inside. I did complete rebuild for less than 80€ and no experience. 4500km and still working.

    We should add chinese subtitles to your videos and hopefully they listen and learn a thing or two ;).
    Thanks for sharing. I want to buy an old bike to repair. Tried a car to start on but think smaller engines would be better to learn.

      Thanks for watching. Bikes are much easier to work on than cars, most parts fit on a bench.

    Good Job, I just rebuilt my top end today on a 150cc,,,,It would not start for a while,,,I fully charged the battery, hit it with carb cleaner and it fired right up,,,,,after the rebuild like this should you go slow on your bike for a while to break it in? Your video helped, TY again

      @@richardjweeks TY RIchard, do I have to go slow with this scooter after the rebuild to break t in or can I ride it normally? TY

    • @richardjweeks
      @richardjweeks  2 роки тому +1

      @@thedaydreamer7972 if you changed the piston and rings and or the cylinder, then it would probably be best to take it easy for the first 50 miles or so but if it's just a head lik mine was then you should be ok tho ride as normal as it won't need breaking in.

    Just cleaned the carb on my gy6 and it had the same green sludge... I don't know how

    • @richardjweeks
      @richardjweeks  2 роки тому +3

      I'm thinking it's the methanol in the fuel. It has a habit of corroding the brass, brass contains copper and this could explain the green tint. Just a guess though.

    Does cam chain guide rail go at the bottom of chain ive been looking for videos as ive just done top end rebuild now when you turn variator timing chain doesnt move just chain clicks as ive put cam chain guide rail at the top will this be why it isnt moving just clicking

    • @richardjweeks
      @richardjweeks  6 місяців тому

      hard to diagnose from what you have written. Cam chain guide goes in the bottom as per my video. It can't physically go anywhere else. Don't forget the cam chain tensioner as this is very important.

    • @richardjweeks
      @richardjweeks  6 місяців тому

      Sorry, there is a second guide on the top of the chain too, make sure it is facing in the right orientation

    How can you be sure at top dead, center and is it possible to be 180° out on the timing? Thanks.

    • @richardjweeks
      @richardjweeks  7 місяців тому

      If I remember correctly, it didn't matter. I think the CDI sparks on both the compression and exhaust stroke. Valve timing is set at the cam.

      Thank you. I have a newer scooter that I’ve volunteered to fix. I’ve got it up and running and if I shut it off, it will start right back up. If it sits for a day, it will usually start back up. But if it sits for a few days, it will not unless I pull out the spark plug dry it off and then it will start up Initially. I thought it was a head gasket issue because there was no coolant in the scooter and then I put coolant in the scooter thinking that I was helping it but now I think that it may leak into the cylinder but seeing the head on your scooter, I think that there might not be coolant journals to the head And I might have oil leaking past the rings? Not sure. Thanks for your help!

    • @mattandrade30
      @mattandrade30 7 місяців тому

      Just as a quick diagnostic fix, I was going to try to drain the coolant again run it and then let it sit and see what happened. Unfortunately I used purple coolant because that’s all I had on hand at the time so it’s hard to tell the color I guess I could try smelling it.

      Cmpo, ( Chinese parts on line ) it's a UK based company in Exeter, good website and worth paying a couple of pounds more for the next day delivery.
