I still belive my theory that the celestial sphere only shows you what you are alive to see. Which is why all hiba sees is a mask of Ravier because she only briefly saw Ravier. And why the Sultana dosen't see her life end because she's takin by surprise, and why Ravier saw a whole road map because she's alive and there to see what the future holds. Just a theory of mine

I wish that maybe chimera would instead seek help from other cultures instead. As raven says, it’s always the villains instigating the new hero’s arrival in some way.
The writing team for this game is really crappy, and is also why I really appreciate Raven’s critiques on the lore: it’s not pointless garbage, but rather something the writing team should REALLY watch and learn from

For Honor's lore took a huge plunge in Y4, made a comeback in Y5, did pretty good in Y6, and now is all over the place with Y7. Like Heresy was pretty good lore wise, and now we have Curse of the McGuffin 3: Aztec Boogaloo.

There were nuances in that story compared to this season coming.

I feel like the story of For Honor really started to take a turn when they suddenly added Pirate, an unironic pistol user in a melee-centric game... But besides that however, I feel like a lot of these hero events with the Outlanders have no real payoff and impact past the point of the Heros' releases, we don't ever get any events after their initial release when they honestly should, because now it just feels like it's all uncomplete.

Probably this lore formula isn't just that the game team isn't interested in making something great and deserved for the good lore of the game, but instead something that they are required to do, not to care that much for the game's sake but the times and money they have to spare or invest in. They saw this formula and went full bananas on massive production of bland and souless lore.
As for the lore-wise theme: This topic were the Aztecs are the subjugated and massacrated by the Spanish is called 'Leyenda Negra'. Indeed, Aztecs (Mexicas) were a oppresive and merciless civ. They were a full on sacrificing for the sake of their gods, which they believed good. Tlaxcaltecas were one of the bunch of other less developed cultures that helped the Spanish in defeating the Mexicas.
As Raven says, all this time of history was filled by gray-ish ideologic ideas and beliefs, some were completely indefensible, others more likely to be for a greater good.
I hope next season will be more cheerful and worthy of the good game they have in hands, but I won't expect it because of the repeative formula they got into and will grasp and get all they juicy money they can get.
PD: This topic is also handed by one game is being developed called Ecumene Aztec which basically touches the same topic here. Fortunately devs have heard the community and will address the matter. :P

As for the Lore, I would like if instead of Horkos being the invaders, Heathmore should be the place getting invaded. The land there is clearly full of life and resources despite the wars. Hell, even Draconite is a valuable resource that I'm sure other cultures would want to have.

Let's face it, Ubisoft forgot how to lore a while ago.
So, after all the signs pointing to a second eclipse, the world suddenly calms down. as a result of this, the warriors start to question why they are even fighting.
Astrea sees this moment of peace as an opportunity for a hostile takeover of heathmoor.
She suceeds, and starts to oppress people. They start to build a resistance.
Now the resistance has escalated to a war with both sides having a decent chance. Additionally, a face from the past has come back to lead this resistance.
Now, at this point, you might be thinking "hmm, yeah. This has potential as a game's lore."
    Now for year 5
Yeah, absolutely nothing has progressed since Gryphon was introduced. That's about it for this season's lore.
    Yeah, it's reallt dry now.
    Yeah, it's raining a lot.
    Yeah, it's really cold now.
    Dragons
    Outlander formula take 1
    Spooky Japanese stuff
    Outlander formula take 2
A solid idea for either a branch of Horkos, or maybe even a third faction in the new war (I haven't really read too much into this season's lore.)

After a game runs for as long as For Honor has, the lore can be kinda hard to keep up and keep fresh. New characters are constantly hyped up, rushed, and they have their short moment of fame, then die out. It's the same with every for honor hero. A hero drops, they get their five minutes, and then fade into obscurity.
Take for example, Gyphon. He's the leader of Chimera, yet he's nearly never mentioned! Astrea gets tons of spotlight, even when the season isn't super focused on Horkos. Take Heresy, a story about the heathmoor inquisition. Yet Astrea is still very clearly heavily referenced in the daily quests.

Also just this last season of heresy was pretty much an exclusively Horkos season after a year of essentially filler (most season didnt directly affect the continuous lore that was occurring at the time and was essentially “why are the pirates here and what are they looking for”).
Then we get back into a season of questionable lore quality: these stories of heroes have brought fanatics out of their homes and made them an evil cult…… but more evil than the current cult.
Then an entire New caste of Horkos appears (inquisitors) and they’re somehow worse than the fanatics. They do basic Horkos/inquisition stuff like excessive murder and mistreating the innocent which leads to the death by metal (which was arguably fun and pretty ok lore) until boom. Halfway through the trials:1. Inquisitor yinchen wins everyone over to fight as a single force rather than fighting each other to push back the inquisition who appears to be the entirety of Horkos (who already wiped out most of the fanatics earlier). 2. She then disappears somehow to god knows where (obviously what remains of the americas) With the rest of the relics, this leads some inquisitors to follow her and do an *average Horkos moment.exe*.
    Which leads to this.
Chimera wasn’t involved despite the fact that they exist to oppose Horkos and didn’t A) try to help the innocent fanatics b) take advantage of the massive Horkos civil war to take the upper hand.
All we know is that both the chimera banquet and the Horkos masquerade have officially ceased (though I’m sure Horkos will do something gaudy next season anyway) and that “daubeny hears bad news”, “vortiger sits in for a masquerade or 2, astrea looks for someone specific and ravier proves she isn’t useless despite already completing her task last season”.
I’m hoping chimera actually get involved in the next season but I might be hoping for too much.
(Sorry for the long post for honor lore has a grip on my soul)

I've been playing For Honor for about 3 months now. The single player, though feeling a bit tedious, was gracefully short so it didn't get stale and has some replayability. I like the multiplayer(though I only play against bots because I suck at the game). The multiplayer meta narrative I feel is a bit convoluted. Instead of it being X group, which almost always is European, invades another region of the world, usually non-white people, and triggers retribution form them. Instead I would've had it where this era of seemingly endless war was caused by the death of Appolyon that created a power vacuum, and now various warlords are vying to fill that vacuum, which inevitably creates even more chaos.

Raven, My idea for the story for the season would be very simple.
In the fight against the servants of the stake, Astria hears old tales from the Vikings about great warriors to the west across the great Sea. Seeing these fabled warriors as potential recruits, she sends one of her disciples general Vela and 30 horkos warriors on two ships to find them. When they arrive, they find a vast jungle unknown to any faction. As they walk through they see people they do not recognize and ask them where they can find these warriors of legend. They don’t have to travel far, as a village they were in is raided, they watch from a distance and Vela smiles wildly “ the tales were true” she thinks “they are already wolves themselves” “primitive they may be, they might not be able to stand up to the warriors of Heathmoor. But I can rectify that.”
Vela and her warriors follow the war party, with their shamans making sure they are not spotted. They tracked them to the warriors Great city, a city that rose from a great lake with pyramid lake structures that jutted from the lake like mountains. Decorated with images of snakes and half human half animal hybrids that dot the structures. And farms that seem to float on the water. The stunning amount of people living in the city of a size most in the party have not seen, and might never see again. All painted in exquisite colors, it was the greatest thing they ever seen for many of them.
The negotiations go poorly. A member of Vela’s men is actually a chimera spy and makes sure the meeting doesn’t succeed by stabbing the Aztec warlord in the chest, starting a battle which horkos loses, driving them from the city losing 15 in the escape back to their camp.
Vela send a messenger on one of the ships back to Astria asking for more supplies and soldiers because they screwed up negotiations. The reply is sent back, Astria simply states that she can fight this new threat with the soldiers and supplies she has, and threatens her if she does not deal with them here, she will have Vela’s head. Dejected, Vela looks to the local tribes for recruitment and finds that they are enthusiastic to fight their shared foe.
Even with their new allies, the war was brutal and long. The Jaguar warriors were the equal of any warrior of horkos, and Vela lost a few good friends to her enemies bloody sacrifices to their gods. Nevertheless, the warriors of horkos pushed through and drove the Aztecs from their city shattering them. Vela and her warriors were celebrated as heroes by the surrounding Tribes, and were gifted gold and other gifts from the defeated Aztecs and themselves as thanks for destroying their oppressor. They took as much as they could carry to their ships, and sailed back home.
As they arrived in ashfeld Astria was waiting for them, “so the threat has been dealt with” she said coldly “yes, master” Vela replied “excellent” Astria said. The warmonger queen was not happy that the Warriors she desired had not come. But the gold Vela and her men came back with would be enough to crush chimera utterly, the oddities her disciple brought back intrigued her. She would later give vela a new title, conquistadora. And Astria threw a grand party to celebrate Vela’s triumph. But unbeknownst to them, new marauders now stalk the western shores of Heathmoor. Leaving burning villages, and heartless corpses in their wake.

But they never forgot, now they have comeback with their champion a character based on Quetzacoatl (basically Aztec jesus, a god prophesied to return in Aztec myth).

I've been wanting to do this for a long time, maybe it's a big comment but... that's it, read who's willing to waste a little time.
Amidst the great universe of For honor and its character skins, I came to realize it and I believe that many of the people who are here also realize this. I started to think for myself an alternative version of the skins lore.
Ramiel: I'm a big fan of his lore, but it combines well with mysticism, making this first warden actually a legend passed down through generations of knights that came over time. I didn't think to change it, but for me to take it as something that really happened, I think it's overkill.
Bolthorn: Now things start to get interesting, at first I thought the raider would more or less serve as an addendum to the past of for honor. I wanted Bolthorn to be a Viking from ancient times, or as Apollyon talks about in the campaign like true Viking warriors. I thought Bolthorn might be one of those warriors, but on one of his forays around the world he came across an empire rich in magical artifacts and huge pyramids. Bolthorn and his crew would hunt for this treasure in search of wealth, but would be trapped in one of the pyramids' traps and die there. Decades later their remains would be found by the Medjay. But while those Vikings stayed dead, they weren't either. Affected by a curse on the bracelets that gave them eternal life. Medjay could not contain the Vikings' bravery and this caused them to escape and seek their past lives in Heathmor. Then Medjay would have to undo his mistake of releasing them. Bolthorn's death impacted heavily on his appearance, he would have been a heavily mailed viking in chainmail but some decaying parts of his body would be on display and being held up by the curse.
Meiko: I like her lore, I won't change anything about it.
Ravier (Bolthorn's lore 2.0): There would be stories across Heathmor that people are being attacked and pillaged in villages and roads fleeing Horkos' conflict with the Chimiera. Curious about what is causing such an act, Astrea asks Ravier to find out who is doing this. At the end of the day Ravier finds a new empire on the rise that would be robbing and plundering from both factions. Along the way Ravier also discovers that Holden has also sent his envoy on the same quest, Daubeny. Instead of fighting each other, they make a temporary truce and try to somehow diplomatically try to convince Sultana to join one of the factions. She refuses and on top of that curses both messengers of being unable to maintain control over their lands, and that the Sultana would do that, becoming the true governess of Heathmor. Seeing that she could become a real threat to both factions, Ravier and Daubeny team up to invade Sultana's palace, revealing a new breach map, in which the commander is Sultana and the new hero is Afeera. In the end, they win and Ravier discovers the reason for the rise of that empire, the sphere of destiny. She steals it for the sake of Horkos and Astrea.
Pirate skin (I don't remember her name sorry): I like and dislike her lore, I just wish the reason for the inquisition was different, that instead of fanatics of relics, they were religious fanatics. In the story mode Apollyon mentions the Roman empire where the centurions came from, I wanted the lore of this skin to expand this empire, hunting all those against the religion that the empire uses. Serving as a control militia for things that deviated from standards, because for the empire, whoever was the winner of the dispute between the two factions would only serve the emperor in the end.
Warmonger skin: Raven did a great job, but perhaps the inquisition against the Aztecs could have been sent by the empire I mentioned earlier, in search of wealth and the will to end these cannibals.
Anyway ... as she said it was going to be long, thank you very much to everyone who reads this comment and takes care, drink water.

I’d rather make the Aztec empire completely unique in the fact that it’s the Only outlander that’s located in Heathmoor in the form of it being an enclave in the Myre specifically.
Where the Aztec empire has fought against invading yet lost and confused members of each faction thus knowing their cultures, language and so forth.
As well as sacrificing unworthy victims that stroll in and completely assimilating the rest that are worthy in combat (explains why they are multiracial) they manage to be hidden like the Kyoshin and Horkos factions until one day a major horkos faction spear headed by the conquistador invades the city of gold.
It’s slightly lopsided to horkos but when chimera steps in the tide of battle turns to their favor and they thwart the attempt.
Thankful for Chimera’s help but being similar to horkos in nature they take a more neutral stance and offer up said assimilated warriors into the ranks of Chimera.
Thus the Aztecs join the fight.

I know the For Honor map is not the same as the world map but I hope Aztecs get their own faction. Currently the outlander faction makes sense geographically according to their region around the Mediterranean sea. The pirate is a little bit off but it could be a Mediterranean sea pirate (maybe Italian), Egypt is south of the sea, and the Middle East being east of it. If the Aztec is grouped in with the outlander faction and solely based on the idea of similar conflict within the For Honor lore then they missed a totally better concept and lore to the game while also maintaining real life geography.

I would like to add that what defeated the Aztecs was not the Conquistadores nor the resentful tribes that didnt want to pay outrageous tribute anymore. It was smallpox and other diseases brough on the conquista which wiped about 80% of them (between 10-15 million). No, the aztecs were not "good" people, but they were only defeated after a huge epidemic and betrayal from rival tribes. And well, we all know that the spanish were even a worse tyrant.

"No one cares about the lore"
    Well, I do.
Or rather I would, but I often find it so dissapointing or bland that I just dont see the worth in following it.
I read all the little pieces of lore we get with the daily orders when theres an event. In fact, on multiple occasions they have peaked my interest. Most recently, they somewhat eluded to how Daunbeney might actually end up doing something soon. I found that intriguing.
Unfortunately, if the past is anything to go by, they are either going to do something boring with this thread, or they just won't follow up on it at all.
FH writers in the past were good imo. But for years now I've been indifferent to the writing, and I sometimes feel the writers just misunderstand or dont get what the previous writers were trying to do. Or worse, they just ignore/forget about what has been done previously, be it by the previous writers or the current ones.

What I personaly think is this. The aztac were the obsidian warriors in the story of ramiel. Think about it the aztac used obsidian blades for there "swords" sow for game lore would make sense to actuely give it that precies twist and also put them in obsidian armor. Then the new skin figuerd out were the obsidian warriors went after the cataclysime and went there sow they can steal the gold that was first stolen from heatmore to begin with making it a revenge story. If that's the way the story is about to go then I would say that's a pretty darn good story.

      Several issues with that theory:
1.) In the lore that's been released, Vela refers to 'atrocities she committed,' implying that she wasn't stealing 'back' anything. Instead she did horrible things to take it.
2.) While the Aztecs used obsidian blades, obsidian armor is impossible to craft, as obsidian is glass and cannot be forged into armor.
3.) It doesn't explain why the aztecs didn't stay after they defeated Ramiel.

Luckily the next hero is a viking and we probably won't get an outlander next year because they'll have 4 heroes. For honor kinda skirts around with realism. It's a very hyper fantastical setting now. For honor up to the cataclysm is identical to ours aside from dragons and detiys who are legends and myths in our world but real in for honor. Once the cataclysm happens history diverges and becomes the for honor world. Technically for honor could be set in the 21st centrey as the cataclysm happens around the 1100s and apolyon says a thousand years of war. Horkos is pretty much for honors way of saying because history spilt after the cataclysm that Horkos did stuff. In real history the spainish found the aztecs and talked to them for a while before eventually stealing stuff. For honor history aztecs get ganged up on by the entire eastern hemisphere 🤣
