- These brown butter matcha cookies with white chocolate chip are super simple and easy to bake! I have been baking them in my oven a handful of times over the last few months because the brown butter has been a game-changer. Browning the butter adds a rich depth of flavor with nutty and caramel notes. These brown butter matcha cookies are so easy to make that I am sure you will be baking them more than once.
153g or ~1 ½ cups Flour
¼ Teaspoon Baking Soda
¼ Teaspoon Salt
10g or 1 ½ Tablespoon Culinary Matcha Powder
-If this seems like a lot to you, then reduce it to 1 tbs.
100g or 7 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
70g or ½ cups packed Brown Sugar
50g or ¼ cups White Sugar
1 Egg*
White Chocolate Chips or chunks (as desired)
Optional: Experiment with freeze-dried fruits like raspberry, strawberries, and dip in or drizzle with chocolate.
Bake for 12-14 minutes at 350°F. If you want to add more chocolates on top, then pause the baking at 8 minutes, add more toppings, and continue baking.
*I’ve baked these cookies without eggs as well! Use any egg substitute OR substitute with 3 tablespoons of milk of choice.
Recipe adapted from erictriesit.co... . I switched the ratio of brown sugar and white sugar because I prefer my cookies with more brown sugar. I also noticed that my cookies tend to take longer to bake, so keep an eye on yours.
Store your cookies in an airtight container. Since the cookies are a butter base, they will harden and firm up in cooler temperatures. You can slightly warm the cookies in the microwave (10secs) or oven before eating them. You may also notice that the cookie color will become less vibrant after a few days. This is because the matcha oxidizes over time.
Let me know if you try these brown butter matcha cookies and if you make any modifications. I hope you enjoy them!
Sincerely,
Huong

Hi, i need a quick answer. Can i use this recipe for the choc cip cookies? I just use the same ingredients but substitute the white choc with dark chocolate. Do i need to change any ingredients? I just try your recipe with matcha and it turned out really good. now i want to do it with chocolate chips😂

@@SincerelyHuong Excited!!
I wanna try this recipe
I hope you do, they're such a joy to make!
I wanna know if this amount of sugar is too sweet since I don’t like my cookies to be too sweet so I’ll know if I need to reduce a bit of amount.
My dough mixture was so crumbly what did I do wrong?
Does the liquid butter need to be room temp before mixing with the sugar and egg?
@@paulajaealmonte5206 hi Paula, no the melted butter doesn't have to be at room temperature before mixing with the egg and sugar. I suggest letting the butter cool for a few minutes so that it won't be too hot to "cook" the egg when mixing the ingredients together. Happy baking!
I only have 8g of matcha for 2 cups of flour 😬 will it be alright?
Very good video amazing work and your welcome to my friend
thank you for coming by, my friend!
So fantastic
Thank you!
Can I replace butter with anything else?
Made these for cny for relatives.. initially they taste so good when fresh from the oven, but after a few hours it was hard to bite and uncrackable. Made two batches and they both turned out the same. Aroma wise excellent, but cookie wise a bit poor.
Hope you had a wonderful time celebrating LNY! You can try to microwave the cookies slightly (15secs to start) to soften them. Cookies with a butter base tends to firm up at room temperature and my batches tend to get firm too. Sorry to hear that they didn't turn out well. :(
Is it possible to know your brand of matcha thank you ?
Hi there, for some time I was purchasing matcha from Beautiful Taiwan Tea Company as an "every day matcha". I just happened to use the same matcha in this video, but any culinary-grade matcha would be good.

Will the cookies turn out soft or hard?
Hi Monita, the cookies will turn out firm and crumbly but not hard like a sugar cookie - since it is a butter base they will firm up at room temperature. If you want them to be soft, then you can microwave them for 10-15 seconds before eating. Note to take the cookies out right when they are almost done because the heat from the cookies will continue to "bake" while they cool outside of the oven. (For me, that is usually when they are slightly golden but still soft in the center.) What makes a cookie soft is usually the ratio of brown sugar. Hope this helps and happy baking!
how many servings is thisss
Hi! This will make a dozen (12) cookies. You can shape the cookies to be larger or smaller, so it is up to you :)
It too salted.😢
There seems to be a small amount of salt unless you use salted butter. Did you mean too sweet? I think lowering the sugar amount would be fine and this is what ai plan to do.
clean your oven
