As a musician who happens to be an old man and is an arrogant musical prick, I am completely blown away at the level of musicianship here. No fancy overproduction or backing tracks. These guys just nailed it perfectly. It sounds just like the recording. I thought musicianship was dead because you really don't need to be good due to technology, but these guys blow my whole opinion out of the water. Oh, also worth noting, these guys are exactly what people think we look and dress like in Portland and Seattle. It doesn't get more northwest than this band. 😂
I grew up an ultra liberal in upstate NY loving these guys and still love them today as a heavy conservative living in Mississippi. Their music transcends geography & politicking.
@@TimBowSpice Not sure what you mean, but it's fairly decent being it's Seattle. I never said musicianship has declined, my point is, the bands that get promoted by record companies are not necessarily as talented as they used to be because they don't need to be.
I have the Conan show on my harddrive. Used to download the Conan shows from 2010-2012. This was a great track that has aged really well. And the accordian & harmonica gives it a special flavour of folk rock music. Also nice backing by Gillian Welch. Thumbs up 👍
Americans are great in making money and dealing deals, but music is a slightly different thing. If you are a superficial human being with practical mind, your music will be a soundtrack for building works.
While The Decembrists were Russian, they certainly were not Communists. Communism did not even exist in 1825, when the Decembrist revolution began but ultimately failed. The Decembrists were primarily Russian soldiers who staged a revolt against the harsh autocracy of the Russian Czar, exemplified by the existence of serfdom and generally oppresive government. The Decembrists fought for human rights for the Russian people and were influenced by the American and French revolutions. Anyway, it's complicated but they were not Communists. Go to Wikipedia for a thorough treatment of The Decembrist Revolt: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decembrist_revolt Now, feel free to enjoy The Decemberists' great music, knowing they are honoring heroic rebels against 19th Century Russian tyranny...and NOT communists!
@@TouchdownJesus2023 While the term “communist” may not have been the popularized term during that time, the monarchic constitution the Decembrists wanted to implement if they so had the chance was full of liberalism and communism that inevitably would’ve ended up like the commies that fail after them. Probably worse perhaps due to their elitism and power hungry ideology. Furthermore, you had a decent run down except never use Wikipedia as a source, that’s a leftist propaganda rag that is not to be trusted. As stated by the founder of Wikipedia. It’s all grossly skewed and dishonest information. Read the Decembrist constitution from the revolution (which I have) and you’ll see the glaring similarities to what we consider modern day communism. The band is openly communist so it shouldn’t be that surprising that the OG Decemberist leaned stupid left too.
@@TouchdownJesus2023 The band The Decembrists not the revolutionaries. Colin has said this and it’s clearly riddled in their music such as the Severed music video.

@@lizabeththrasher2045 Oh for sure my friend! I was just making a joke because we all look like a bunch of hipsters up here. 😂
The live music scene in your town must be abysmal!

I remember finding out the Decembrists were communists and even though commies suck and their ideas are trash, I still love the band.
