PS2 sound hardware cannot do the stream version while loading different data multiple times due to low memory, so this is using native ps2 sound channels, which is still impressive giving the quality it can match to real musical instruments
I love the faster hi-hat rhythm played on the drums in this version. If I ever get myself a midi to usb cable, might even make a drum cover of this tune. Someday. xD

This is like, the rough demo from a local band, right, and the og fans love it but the opening version of this song is the remade version with better production after getting a record deal, and the og fans call the bands sellout for giving up their old harder sound 😂
Reminds me that one time I found footage of one of the first concerts of Rage Against the Machine before they got big with the opening song being an early version of "Killing in the Name."
Bruh that's my favorite part as well "GO. into the sand and the dust in the sky, go now there's no better plan than to do or to die, free me, pray to the faith in the face of the light, feed me fill me with Sin, and get ready to fight."
I've only ever done this fight on the HD Remaster for PS Vita, I would have no way of having heard this song if they removed it in the Remastered version. It's okay to be wrong. Go look for yourself.
Finally! This version is way better, but way harder to find. I don't like the opening version at all. I think it's the extra percussion line that sells it for me.
@@crplingdepresion4202 Hey, some Black Metal artists have been downgrading the quality of their vocals in post/recording with a potato for ages because it's an aesthetic. I'd say it goes well with the heavier take of this version.
I prefer this version as it is pure Nobuo Uematsu, the percussion is classic FF and it is better for the Braska's Aeon battle, more than the studio version imo.
Gonna be honest. This version is great but I don't find it better than the standard version. This sounds a little more muddier, and while its instruments still provide the same fire as the standard, its sound is a little different and it doesn't really pump me up as much as the standard. Aside from pumping, its supposed to be a song that connects Jecht to Tidus, but in a way that sounds metal so it comes off odd (hence the vocals) but it definitely is great, The drums in the beginning of the song when its in the vocals give it a slightly jaunty and jumpy rhythm since its slightly faster which fits just as much as the standard, but the song just feels like its just there, especially since the vocals are a little more harder to male clear of and sometimes it feels a little slower, which I'm not too much a fan of when this song feels more slightly fast-paced, I just don't find it better or much inticing as standard, but I will say its close.
@@Chyde109 OK, because this version sounds like it would be playing in the background of the arena as if the characters themselves could hear it. At least it does to me.
any idea why it sounds like this here? i’d assume if the proper version could play during a pre rendered cutscene it’d be ok to play during a boss fight?
By my guess, DVD limitations. The song used in the cutscene is part of the video file while this is a separate audio file. DVDs was fairly new technology at the time and this was an early PS2 game. They probably didn’t know how to compress the files better until later, which allowed them to make FFX International. This is similar to what happened with Eidos PC ports of FF7 and 8 when they compressed 3-4 PS1 disks into a CD-ROM, they had to use MIDI versions of the soundtrack in order to fit all that into a single disk.
Paul Amodio Is this version really in the PS4 version? Because I heard that they used the original version of this theme in the remastered version of the game
Not necessarily. They could have had the PS2 stream the track from disc directly if they wanted to play the same track as in the intro FMV. One possibility is that they wanted to save that bandwith for the dialogue voices exclusively so as to avoid a bottleneck, of course, but either way it was a conscious choice to have the PS2 sequence it in real time instead, and it was a conscious choice to make the vocals blend in to the background more. They probably wanted to highlight the dialogue that happens when you use the Talk command, and it would suck if the vocals of the BGM overlapped that too much.
In every final fantasy game running on discs, they always stream data. Be that fight scenes, magic, its just constantly loading data, so they can't have that and running streaming music so they have to use the Ps2's internal audio for it, and this is the results. It is a conscious choice. As for the latter, hell their memory is so overboard its not even funny, so they can put a stream track and let it run and repeat.
kejimaeda I do think you're wrong. This version has a much more powerful bassline, the instruments blend together very smoothly and it has a slight echo that suits the battle much better. If there's something wrong, it's the vocals. They're a bit drowned out here. Other than that... the streamed version sounds very, very flat compared to this.
+Ansem Darkseeker I'd say the dark tone of the bass in synergy with the guitar was more or less removed and the voice is pushed too much into focus due to it.
Over 10 years I've been searching for this version, I KNEW there was a different version on the final boss battle!
