I found this video very educational.Thank you a lot for making it. Would you please make separate videos on the difference between adverb and adverb phrases; adjective and adjective phrase.noun, adverb adjective, infinitive clauses their grammatical names and functions

Excellent, I am glad that you like my lessons. Thanks for the comment. Happy New Year. My next video will be available tomorrow, the 2nd January. :) Best wishes, Andrew
fariba yamani "would" is quite difficult to explain in the comments because it is a word that we use in many different situations. But for the specific situation described in this video: "If I had seen you, I *would* have said hello." This is a conditional in the past. I say hello *IF* I see you. (in the past) We use *would* to describe that it is conditional. Best wishes Andrew
Hi! I'm from Morocco and I'm a follower of your lessons that are very interesting I want to thank you about this in first, than I have some questions : must can have an other meaning if I'm not wrong we use it in obligation (you must do something..) and what is the difference between "may" & "might" "can" & "could" are they in the same tense? And do they have the same meaning in the sentence?
very sorry to say please don't mind but "may" "can" "ought to" and "need to" are missing in your recommended list of model verbs here.i didn't find lessons of these model verbs Mr. Andrew. thank you past lessons on modal verbs are wonderful ❤️✨🥳🌟🙃
Hi Andrew, At 12:00, on the answer about the second example, you have put (or you put ?) "He", talking about the dog. I was always taught that for a thing or an animal, we use "it". I am a little bit confused about that. Can you give me some informations please?
19olivier72 Hi Olivier. You are right - we use "it" for objects and animals. But we make an exception for family pets (example cats or dogs) or animals we feel close to. If it is a dog that we see in the street that we do not know at all, we probably say "it" but if we are describing our family dog, we say he / she. :) Andrew
thank you a lot:) I have a question. At 6:59, you explained the certainty among must, could, and might. why? what is the criteria? I'm learning modal verbs and every content gives different explains about the certainty of 'could' and 'might'. Might and could both can show the possibility but, I can't understand their slight difference of meaning. could you explain it?
Can you explain "couldn't" to me in this situation? For example: "They couldn't have turned off the light, so the bill was high!" Is it used as a modal verb of probability in the above sentence? Thanks!
Sang Đào Hi, in my lesson, the 3 modal verbs of probability (must, could and might) were all in the PRESENT tense. We can also use them in the past tense ("must have", "could have" and "might have". They have the same meaning with the same degree of probability, except the action is in the past. So we can say: "The electricity bill is high so they couldn't have turned off the light." (quite sure) or we can say it a bit differently: "They couldn't have turned off the light because the electricity bill is high." In both cases, we say the bill is high (in the present because we have the bill now) and we put the modal verb of probability in the past (couldn't have) because that happened BEFORE receiving the bill. I hope that helps! Andrew
Sir What all ways to show possibility, please make a video on degree of their usage like may , might, can , could etc Similarly What all the ways to make suggestions Many ways are to make suggestions but distinguish among their usage
Wonderful explanation! 'I don't think he meant to be rude.' 'He ……… said sorry.' i. must have ii. might have iii. would have Which is the correct option?
Hello from a fellow teacher. I'd suggest that Sarah must be in love with a musician or songwriter as opposed to a singer. Else, great work and thanks for the vid !
Hi can you make a video on:comparative adjectives example :as much as, younger, youngest, as older as... etc please Thanks for this great lesson Andrew
Hello, Thanks for your helpful video. May I ask a question?! What did you use "have to" in the sentence"you have to try to forget about this man"?! I knew "have to" used for obligation. Is it possible to say "you should try to forget.." because have to used for law or rules.and should for giving advice.
It is ME "have to" is often used when something is compulsory (like a law) but we can also use it to give some very strong advice to somebody. We are saying something very important to them and we want them to listen and follow our advice. "have to" is stronger than "should"
Mr andrew. Well.I know that would and could used for polite request or permission but I get confused as the model verbs like might, could , would are in the past form but they often used to express present or future example: I would like..., he might be at home, it might rain later, we could do that by this afternoon. Could you help me, please?

This is a conditional in the past. I say hello *IF* I see you. (in the past) We use *would* to describe that it is conditional.

Andrew, i still confuse about might and could. Because both are unsure condition. Few example with could and might be helpful
Hi Andrew,

Hi
Could you please tell me whether we can use will, shall and would for deduction and speculation?
thank you a lot:)
I have a question.
At 6:59, you explained the certainty among must, could, and might. why? what is the criteria?
I'm learning modal verbs and every content gives different explains about the certainty of 'could' and 'might'.
Might and could both can show the possibility but, I can't understand their slight difference of meaning.
could you explain it?
that's my problem too, do you know the answer?
Hi andrew ı have checked your grammer videos but ı couldnt find,is there any video about obligations thank you
thanks a million Mr
thank you you are the best teacher :)
+TIH ZABDI It's a pleasure. Thank you for the comment.

Why is shouldn't not mentioned here? Do you have videos on past modals? Do you have any other videos on modals? Thank you
Can you explain "couldn't" to me in this situation?
For example:
"They couldn't have turned off the light, so the bill was high!"
Is it used as a modal verb of probability in the above sentence?
Thanks!
Sang Đào
Hi, in my lesson, the 3 modal verbs of probability (must, could and might) were all in the PRESENT tense. We can also use them in the past tense ("must have", "could have" and "might have". They have the same meaning with the same degree of probability, except the action is in the past.

In both cases, we say the bill is high (in the present because we have the bill now) and we put the modal verb of probability in the past (couldn't have) because that happened BEFORE receiving the bill.
I hope that helps!
Andrew
Crown Academy of English Great! I now really understand it! I will introduce your website to my friends. Thanks!
When we have the bill in hand, and we know the reason is light, why can't we use "must" here? Are we not completely sure?
could not have turned the light off here is a deduction
You are ,so helpful.
Thank you Andrew
please can you do all the modals and reported speech? love you
it was such a great way learning modals
