Yes indeed, it was opposite the Cairds foundry site which stood where Tesco, Iceland and Halfords now is. I remember seeing it there at the time, and on really dark and spooky nights..... if you were lucky..... you could sometimes catch sight of the chewit monster there having it's gruesome supper. Far better than any Jurassic Park movie I reckon. Thanks for commenting. Kind regards.
The smell of gorse always takes me back to my childhood at primary school, there was a large clump of gorse in one corner of the playing field where we could hide from the teachers prying eyes. Love local history.
Would you agree Sir that it emits the delightfully sweet, appetising and heady aroma of coconut? (The Malibu-Bounty bush). Are we not lucky to live in such a green and temperate coconutty tropical paradise, yet without the terrors of poisonous snakes, flesh eating reptiles, nor killer ants and spiders etc. I shall now spend the rest of my days in quest of a native bramble, thorn, or whatever bush, that gives off a distinct pineapple bouquet (Lima Oscar Lima). Thank you for watching and commenting Sir, and kind regards.
Used to be gorse batches at the top field of Ocean road walney facing biggar bank in the sixties and seventies across from where the open air swimming pool was
Hello Les, thank you for your observation. Could you please give me the time stamp of when I said that, and I will go back and re-evaluate what was said. Kind regards.
I think you may perhaps mean that it is only that the words themselves have certain unfortunate connotations, whilst the area and features themselves stand testament to the industrial heritage of this fine town. Kind regards.
Yes indeed, thanks for the correction. I have been picked up on this before in another of my videos. Clearly my local indoctrination is not yet 100% complete (haha). Thanks for watching Sir.
The Chewits bus station was the original bus depot which was on the site of the old Aldi store next to Craven Park.
